    I'm 19 and from Milwaukee but sad to I've say never seen Laverne and Shirley. I'll marathon it this holiday in her honor. I wish more women were like this today. Beautiful yet tactful. RIP Penny Marshall what a legacy.

    My late mother spent the first forty years of her life living in the Bronx and my late father spent the last 40 years of his life living in the Bronx where he died in 1989. I learned how to walk on the streets of Harding Park in the Bronx in the early 70s. RIP to PENNY MARSHALL, a hilarious hometown girl.

      More so no cuz all the legends are dying off...that's what happens when you got the best run EVER from the 70's to 90's. People have all been dying WAY too early. 2016 took Prince, David Bowie and George Michael ffs...and a shit ton more than year. Fuck 2020, 2016 is the king of a sucktatude. All my heroes died. MY dad in 2014 (which made everyone else not as important lol), roddy piper, ultimate warrior...legends from every facet of entertainment kicking the bucket left right and center...

    I always loved her. Just a normal, nice-looking funny, laid back chill kind of lady. Love the line about her playing an Indian woman with her Bronx accent being the highlight of her career with a sarcastic tone. That's so awesome .

    I loved Laverne and Shirley, as a child, As a young boy, i had a crush on penny. Penny was very, opposite to her character that she played, on Laverne and Shirley, she was very shy, private & introverted. She was a great director. Penny you, will be missed!!!😘

    She was a lovely, cool and incredibly down to earth person. And I miss that natural look so badly. When was the last time you saw a female celebrity on a talk show interviewed in jeans looking so completely casual. Miss that.

    I love that when they shake hands, she acts confused as to why he's holding on to it XD. Some other girls get confused too, but they try to hide it. She doesn't even try to hide it and she even pulls her hand away

But clearly she was in a hurry to get back to rehearsing "The New Show." It's sad, because he seemed to admire her, and her lack of enthusiasm took him by surprise.

    Boy, she did not want to be there. Dave of course was handling it well, he knew he had to fill up the time and tried his best to make it go fast. And Bud Melmans Toast on a Stick commercial is making me hungry for some toast on a stick! God almighty Late Night in the early 80's was some of the best Guerrilla Comedy TV ever.

      I like the awkwardness of some of these old Dave Letterman interviews. I feel sometimes like modern TV is too good.

      iRider1 Oh, I like the awkward ones, too. But usually the awkwardness is a result of Dave needling the guest a little bit. I haven’t seen many like this where Dave was actually quite solicitous, but the guest just wasn’t having it.

    Penny Marshall has lefted me confused here. She says she played an Indian in The Savage Seven but she actually didn't play the Indian girl (Marcia) role that was actress Joanna Frank. Penny actually portrayed (Tina) in the film. Unless she didn't remember? 🤔🤨🙄🤷

    This is so different from modern female guest appearances, in which women show up dressed trashily and the host talks only about sex and the biggest feature is whether there is a slight wardrobe malfunction.

    I think she's very pretty/Sexy! And very well built here! She left us too soon. Her brother Gary was a genius! He created a lot of great shows
    like "Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, He developed Neil Simon's 1965 play The Odd Couple for television in 1970.
    but it didn't stop[p there.... He is also known for directing _Overboard (1987), Beaches (1988), Pretty Woman (1990), Runaway Bride (1999), and_ the family films _The Princess Diaries (2001) and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004). He also directed WonderBand singer_
