    Ok.
I just spent an evening not listening to Band Maid and The Wagakki Band.
I discovered Asterism, Sokoninaru, Garharic Spin and Glim Spanky.
In other comments I've mentioned that I'll be 70 this year.
And I have to say, as a musician and someone who loves great music, it's never been a better time to be alive.
    These Japanese bands are incredible.
    F*****g INCREDIBLE.
    WOW!!!

5:43 Yes, that's the bandleader and boss. It's amazing how she has been able to keep this circus on the road for 12 years now, and still keep growing and evolving despite all the personnel changes and C19. I have a huge respect for this band, even if I don't love every single song they put out. Great reaction, as always!

These bands, be it Band Maid or Gacharic Spin, are simply the technically best and most talented , rock music has to offer at the moment. The top of the rock evolution pyramid . There are almost no other opinions among people with a musical understanding . I love your channel because this is where these talents are recognized.

It's thanks to the internet and RUclips and the like we are able to get access to far more music than ever before from great bands all over the world that we would never have had access to locally otherwise. BabyMetal became a success because of RUclips, no one would have heard of them without it and the same is true of many other bands that music labels and radio have deemed worthless. I stopped listening to the radio well over a decade ago and went to burning my own CD's to using an MP3 player and now my phone to store music and I haven't looked back.

"There's so much talent our there. And we've missed so much of it. ... It's whether you get to hear them or not."
This is exactly the point! And why have we not heard them? Because of the major record labels, and the appalling state of what is still loosely termed "radio"! There was a time when a DJ like John Peel on the BBC would seek out new talent and play them on his show. Because he knew just how much good talent was passed over by the major labels. We're lucky these days to have platforms like RUclips, Bandcamp, and others, where we can discover artists we otherwise would never, ever hear if we relied on "radio".
Great reaction to this number by Gacharic Spin, and also to Mindset. These two songs are absolutely outstanding - best that I've heard so far in 2021!

Angelina has really come into her own since joining Gacharic Spin a couple years ago, which is very good for her and the band. She now brings them a third strong vocalist to fill more prominent roles with Hana and Oreo. Their songwriting and arrangements have evolved for the better, which was already good. More importantly, the sound production is more accurate and refined. When Yuri on drums returns, you'll see her more prominently featured in their videos.

I loved the rough power four at the beginning (Koga, Tomo-Zo, Hana and RIP Army). But I think the actual set up is the best since a while, Angie is a power house. Gacharic Spin was and is together with Maximum the Hormone and Sokoninaru one of the most inspiring bands, close after Band-Maid, which still is and will stay as my top of the tops.

Ryan, you do know the core 4 plus singer Fuki of Unlucky Morpheus make up the band Doll$Boxx? 14 MVs, one for every song, most from 2012 when they were supergroup yet still only only 24-26 yrs old, think you’d love em.
And someone mentioned Sokoninaru, and you mentioned Hong Kong, so I’ll recommend Elephant Gym from Taiwan. Brother/sister plus drummer, together since high school, international jazz awards, simple instrumental songs with incredible musicianship. More complex playing, but subtle, less chaotic hardrock result. I personally like this side of them, the college party side… ruclips.net/video/gPh4knv3U7U/видео.html

They call themselves "live entertainment bands" (especially Koga and Hana, who lead the concept).
They are chasing the "entertainment band" they believe in, regardless of genre.
That intention was passed on to Angie, and at this year's "NAON no YAON Online Live", she shouted between songs, "Never put out the fire of entertainment even in such a situation."

There support Dr, Levin the only male to have played in GS (Metallic spin did have a male singer ) dint sing .Hana has been working on her guitar skills over the last 2 years but will never match Tomo-zo as she is a Alian princess 3 million years old from the planet Nicorin who travel the Galaxy looking for a band worthy of her talents and found GS LOL (Tomo-zo's Stage character who always makes an appearance live and one song on a album with just her singing .

You should check out more of their live performances, they are off the charts. The one you did (Lock On IIRC) primarily sticks out because of Koga's machine gun bass, but doesn't have the depth their newer material has. They moved away from their dance oriented stuff over the years and became more and more progressive, although they occasionally dipped into the realm of prog earlier, but those songs never gained any traction unfortunately.
Tamashii from their latest Blu-ray would be a great one with twin drums from Hana and Yuri:

And since you mentioned Hana's Smells Like Teen Spirit cover, they re-recorded Tamashii on Toy Instruments during the lockdown:

If there is a more official reason for Koga's nickname someone could point me to please do. But what I found by searching was an electronic engineering term. An "F Chopper" is a circuit that uses electrical frequency (the "F") to control the flow of electrical power (by either allowing full flow or "chopping" it to some degree). It in turn is controllable via software.
    And what is music? Frequency.
Frequency that moves emotions and affects behavior. "Soft" power (whether the sound is hard, soft, or something that hasn't been heard before).
I don't know about the rest of you, but well done bass has always grabbed me in my very core.

    • @timgove5337

Chopper refers to her bass slap style & power. I know that F is for Feramone, and it’d stuck before they realized the spelling. I don’t hear Japanese well enough to catch WHy pheromone, it’s in some radio interviews online. I think the name is from her Pink Panda days (approx age 18-23 ?) Rather than from high school (having licked up bass around 16, with drummer Hideki Aoyama and then guitarist/bandmate Hana; she also took lessons from onetime BabyMetal bassist Ikuo, who wrote my fav GS tune Broken Lover, see 2015’s live vid for the chaotic control that hooked me!). And hey, once you realize your signature bass and merchandise will be the FCK series, go with it!

Oh, one thing I forget to mention - it's not Yuri in this video, it's their tour support drummer LEVIN. Yuri has had a leave of absence for pregnancy for most of this year since February. Hana recorded the drums on the new album as well as her guitar and vocal parts and LEVIN has been touring with them. Yuri was still away when they recorded this MV so LEVIN was asked to step in. Yuri just returned to playing with the band a few days ago for their 12th Anniversary concert, she didn't play the whole 2 1/2 hour set, she played for about 40 minutes overall in two different parts of the show and LEVIN did the rest.

I heard somewhere else that it is Koga who model for the nude girl, and she at least resembles.

Not sure if you saw the small clip of Hana playing Smells Like Teen Spirit or the full 10+ minute clip, but the longer clip goes into details of how she made all her different instruments and sound effects. It shows her tuning the sound of a balloon and a small metal ruler. G is so many mm, F# is this many, a D is this many. She is crazy, and the world is a better place for it. For anyone interested, jump to 3 minutes 30 seconds. ruclips.net/video/oi2K1PmKJiM/видео.html

Well, damnit, don’t use the 3:30 link above. That only takes you to that time in Ryan’s video. I forgot that would creat its own link it and it won’t let me edit it. LOL. Just use the second link. I need to stop before I make things worse. Hey, was finally able to edit out first link.

Their self titled album, which this is from, isn't my favorite overall work from them, but I do really like this song, "Mindset", and a couple others. I feel like GS is, for my taste, more inconsistent. They're insanely talented, but each album, they are more songs I don't listen to that much, compared to the ones I really get into, and play often. One song from the new album that I was really surprised I liked was "Magic Umbrella Girl". I feel this album may be more of experimental thing, due to it being, iirc, self produced, and they're trying to figure out what their sound will be from here on in, with this lineup. And yeah, the screams are something you'd know about if you'd had ever checked out Doll$Boxx before this. Hana, the former drummer, now up front doing guitar, has some good screams.

I really wanted to like this song.. and maybe its just the mix... but it all sounds so muddled and.... muffled? What I mean is I can't really distinguish any individual instruments other than the piano and drums really. Maybe its just me.... I really want to like this song as I like most of what GachaPin has put out.. but this one... [sad face emoji]... but F Choppa Koga is still my 2nd favorite bassist... her style is like the other side of the coin from MISA and that's awesome. :)
    Cheers Ryan. Good video.

I apologize in advance for my English ( I learned the language from games and music , I might be weird to say + I'm tired too ) I haven't really found the music for me in 4 - 5 years, the new music just doesn't work for me. What I lost on an old continent or in America, I found in and around Japan . I didn’t have and don’t have a favorite genre of music. The point is to like it and find what I am looking for in it... ( I hope you understand what I wanted to write down ... 🤔)
      ... I wandered ...
Japanese performers regularly use this technique to make multiple changes to styles or musical genres within a song , similar to this song . Interesting thing ... In theory, it seems like a bad idea, but the end result is brilliant. This trick has mastered the present: Gacharic Spin, Mary's Blood, Broken By The Scream, Passcode, Yousei Teikoku, Babymetal, Maximum The Hormone ... In the past: 「Story of Hope」, X Japan, Seikima, Show-Ya, Ningen Isu ... So it’s pretty common in the east and it works a lot and these are just so suddenly what came to mind . I find it interesting how many good performers and musicians, songs are hiding in the east, which are now popping up due to the covid downtime and conquering everything in the west.
(They finally don't look at me weird because I listen to Japanese music)
I would like to suggest another band and a song for you
DESTROSE - MAZE (Music Video Sample)
fun fact : "Destrose was a Japanese all-female heavy metal band formed in 2007. The group remained an independent band their entire career and experienced frequent line-up changes until going on indefinite hiatus in 2015. Although considered pioneers of the Girls Metal Band Boom, Destrose never achieved commercial success and is best known for the subsequent bands later formed by its many members .( Wiki , about the first time this is enough)"
This band had 20 members . After it members formed new bands . Mardelas , LOVEBITES , Aldious , Mary's Blood / NEMOPHILA , FATE GEAR ... many others ... upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/timeline/sy5h0czqdygnd59gs5jrfeg18n38orr.png

I have the impression, since they have this new singer, even she doing too well the crazy eyes that scaring me a tlittle, the music goes less in all directions and seems more digest, even if it's always crazy. XD (at least with this song and mindset) but it's almost too much for me on this one. I still prefer DOLL$BOXX stuff (I don't think you have react to this project yet?)
