This was EXACTLY during the time that people hated on Elvis. They wouldn't show this on TV unless it was the waist up. This was the beginning of his career.
Tragic story behind the movie for this song. Elvis became really close friends with his Leading Lady in this movie and before the premiere she was killed alongside her husband in a car crash. Elvis was so devastated by her death, he refused to go to the premiere or even see the movie. He eventually did have a private viewing with his parents, but he was deeply affected by the death 😔
This is a scene from his 1957 movie Jailhouse Rock. This scene was after he was released from jail, and was a popular singer. He was 22, and it was his 3rd movie.
You are great, you get Elvis and his fans appreciate you. He made up this dance himself. The movie is one of his best. I saw Elvis 2 times in concerts, I will never get over him even now at 77 years old.
Elvis and his bodyguards always had fun on the sets when he was making movies.. Elvis actually had a pet monkey and used to bring to to the movie studio when he was making movies. Sometimes it would get out and drive the director and producer crazy. He took that monkey everywhere till it passed away.
Whilst filming the dance scene Elvis swallowed the cap on one of his teeth and it lodged in his lung and he had to go to the hospital to have it removed. They had to go through his vocal chords to remove it and he was hoarse for a couple of days but was ok thereafter.
I'm a 70s/80s kid but I've always heard this song growing up. In the early 90's this song was on the Forrest Gump soundtrack and was introduced again to many people. This song is timeless and still sounds great. P.S. I think he was 21 when this was filmed and I heard he choreographed the production.
I first heard this song when I went to see the movie in 1957. It was also fun to play on the juke box at a teenage hangout. Kids today don't realize what they're missing. The '50s-'60s era was the best time to be a kid.
#47 said to #3, you're the cutest jailbird I ever did see, I sure would be delighted with your company, come on and do the Jailhouse Rock with me. I'm thinking the Jailhouse Rock had some other meaning in that prison? lol
The first time the whole country saw the "moving" Elvis was "the milton bearle show" where Elvis did "Hound dog", people went crazy and preists talked about how Elvis was the devil. Look that one op, but get the original Milton Bearle performance, as there are other versions where they cut the performance up.
Growing up, I heard it everyday! Mom watched this movie everyday!! Then she played tapes.🤦♀️ Believe it or not, growing up I was not a fan of Elvis at all! Mom loved him soooo much! Everywhere u looked in my childhood home Elvis!! Rugs on the walls, pictures of him with family photos, plates hung around kitchen, doll in glass case on mantel. After my mom passed, listening to Elvis gave me sense of peace & the crying became a happy cry. I became obsessed and watched documentaries. I love him now- mom would be happy, but dig in and say she was right. Lol 😜😪😊❤ Good to see your smiling faces!! Hope ur doing ok with post partum and keep chin up beautiful!!
Beautiful memories. Thanks for sharing with us, Carrie! This is a great way to remember your mom. I have good days and days I have to pick myself up to keep going. Thanks for asking!
Skateland definitely played this one in Virginia! Great Reaction! Edit- Elvis was also the Choreographer for this whole scene in the movie too! You called that one.
My Mom saw him live on a riverboat before he was famous. He was playing things like that riverboat and state fairs. Even though he wasn’t “anybody” yet, he still had women screaming and swooning. Had just cut his first record at Sun. Mom stood about 20 feet from the stage. She said she had never felt magnetism like that from another human being before or since. You all are so fun to watch reacting, and such a good looking couple. I have never been to New Orleans, but it’s on my bucket list (just not at Mardi Gras, me and crowds that size? So not happening. I want to see Cajun country too. My Mom raised us listening to jazz, and I came to live Cajun music and Zydeco from watch the movie The Big Easy back in the ‘87. Love Beausoleil!
Thanks for sharing your mom's experience with us! She's lucky! There is always a festival going on, so there is no best time to visit. Just avoid Hurricane season (June - November). There is only a 2 hour distance between Lafayette and New Orleans. Fly in/out New Orleans and rent a rental car to drive to Lafayette. Make sure you try all our Louisiana eats!
@@TheDemouchetsREACT Thank you for the tips! BTW Mom’s Elvis experience was in 1954, on a small riverboat that ran down the Potomac from DC to Mount Vernon on the Virginia side, the. further down river to an amusement park on the Maryland side. The boat had entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.
This Elvis song in the movie 🎬 was OK but his original release was Elvis's sound more Elvis than movie orchestral, they always wanted to do this, again I like it but Elvis's release was far better than this.
This clip was from Elvis' 3rd movie Jailhouse Rock
It started as nervousness when he was on stage.
My man Elvis beautiful inside and out
Indeed.
Elvis Presley invented the 'Moonwalk' dance, 15 years before Michael Jackson ever used it.
Then Michael married Elvis' little daughter.
Wow! We didn't know this!
Michael also did the tippy toe thing, but Elvis did it decades before. Michael was a huge Elvis fan.
This was EXACTLY during the time that people hated on Elvis. They wouldn't show this on TV unless it was the waist up. This was the beginning of his career.
They didn't know greatness yet!
i love his sideway moonwalk. which makes sense because he's michael jackson's father-in-law
React to Mean Woman Blues and see Elvis's dancing skills and do the original moonwalk

The monkey's name was Scatter .

It's hilarious that the same actor who played Forrest Gump ends up playing Elvis's manager.
This film segment was from the 1957 musical film, "Jailhouse Rock", which starred Elvis Presley.

Parents had greatest hits 8-track. Played it over and over in boat and van 8-track tape players.

Wow! What can he not do????
Now you see why one of Elvis Nicknames was Elvis the Pelvis.
Yes😂

Could you react to: Elvis Presley - Polk Salad Annie (FULL version) (5:35) and Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender, Kissing a lot of Girls (7:41).
We'll check it out.
This is no adlib. This is a movie clip from the movie Jailhouse Rock.
