Sorry I'm late to the party but what a great reaction you guys. I just love your observations of it I mean this came out before I was born I think yeah by about a few years and but he was on my radar when I was a little kid in grade school and I love this early stuff and once it was in the seventies I didn't really like his older stuff because that's more of the stuff my parents would have liked. But now that I'm approaching 60 and I played in bands my whole life. And I've learned a lot more about him as a person? Wow. There's just so much amazing stuff out there. But this is awesome to see in the 1968 Comeback Special where he gets together with his original band - one member and they're just cutting it up like they used to but they haven't really practiced in a long time and they're doing old songs. You get to see the friendship in the camaraderie and they were always really good in terms of performance. And of course the audience is just eating it up, who wouldn't? You're right there within several feet of this. Thank you for the reaction.
I love the 68 comeback special the most because it shows how human he was. With the mess ups and the jokes and everything he still managed to make it a spectacular show.
Again, just like the earlier video, great points from both of you. When you talkin about that southern hospitality vibe you're picking up, RnB guitar-player Greg Gaskins is friend of mine.. He worked with a whole lot of Legends back in that era but he said Elvis was the only one that treated all the people around him like they were family and at home with him. He was adamant Elvis was the only one of all the artists he worked with that was like that. Always acted like he was ready to give the shirt off his back. Said he grew to love Elvis like a brother because of that. Many other folks that worked with Elvis said the same thing. It's stories like that make me dig the man even more. Great reaction
I was 6 and my first concert was Elvis! People lost their minds! We’re still ya Al king about him today! Can you take your eyes off him him?! God he is a strapping man!!❤️
This is at the 1968 Special and he sings his old and new songs. He “reinvented ’ himself in the “Comeback Special” which meant that he was not going to sing music that was not important to him. He loved entertaining and his fans and off he went out on the road and at the end of this show he sang, “If I Can Dream” as a tribute to MLK. His voice is scratchy in this one.
There is an album called “The Million Dollar Quartet” that is a jam session featuring Johnny Cash, Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis. It’s an incredible, spontaneous gathering of friends who just happened to be in the studio together. It really shows the personality of each guy and especially of Elvis (of course). Plus it’s full of some of the early songs that led in the creation of rock and roll. ❤
I think Elvis was a perfectionist but above all it was giving a good performance. Also for this show he was recording multiple versions of each song and I think he wanted to prevent it being boring for the audience. There’s a video called ‘1968 comeback special bloopers’ and you’ll see him having a lot of fun with the audience
Guys don't stop doing Elvis. This was his 68 comeback special so when he said it had been a long time he was referring to performing. This was the first time in 8 years that he performed live because he took that whole time off from playing any music to do nothing but movies. Elvis also was a perfectionists. He wasn't really out of breath when he stopped for a second. That was him just joking.
I know it's easy to make fun of him. He was literally the first world wide star. Nobody had a blue print. Could make fun of himself, look like a stud. Not sure if anyone ever wore a leather suit before
I would like Heartbreak Hotel if Elvis was there. He was made fun of all the way through high school because his hair was long and hdared to wear pink jeans or shirt.
I think you’re right. He is not really rock, he is more blues and gospel. And he was popular? I’m not sure that todays popular music is related to this.
I have a video for you to do next….I’m not sure what your religious beliefs are….but if you do believe in god….PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I’m begging you to react to Morgan Wallens new song “Don’t Think Jesus” the first time I heard a snippet a couple days ago….I literally got chills down my spine and now that I heard the whole song yesterday….I got chills all over my body!!!! That song has soooo soooo much truth to it!!!!
Elvis was really enjoying himself at this show, the best.
Dude was so good looking, and he could sing!!
Elvis had the whole package. This was a hit in the fiftys.
That is MUSIC!! And... AWESOME
KING
This was his first concert after not performing live for nearly 10 yrs because he was tied into film contracts
His studio videos are EPIC!!

I love your honest authentic poignant points you made! You guys got it! From everyone that I've seen interviewed he was a warm human being.
Nice 👍😊 job!!!
Sounds like your getting who Elvis was. He had Charisma in spades.
❤❤
Elvis was a Capricorn. Capricorns has big sense of humour and loved making people laugh.
In this same special check out the Gospel Medley and also Elvis singing Memories
Will do!
He originally did this song in the 50s
