I love no gi and been training for a while now but I recently started training in the gi too. Both are helping my game but I would say no gi is better for MMA imho. Not sure about this palm striking thing to be honest. I like that they've allowed slams though I think that's a good shout to make this style of combat JJ more realistic.
I hope to see Ben Eddy work on a mustache choke for next EBI

Woah! Easy there, Ben Eddy is not a weirdo-hipster. There are many different types of people in JuiJitsu and yes, there are weirdos everywhere in society but Ben is not a weirdo. I got a chance to meet and talk with him last year at a showcase in London and I would say he is not weird. He’s very smart and a real humanitarian and a true gentleman.
If you ever get a chance to meet him or attend a training clinic definitely go!
I think you will see him in a different light and besides, being a weirdo isn’t a bad thing, I would rather be weird than an asshole! 😬 peace ✌️

the brazilians trained with palm strikes back in the day. they called it taparia. It only looks out of place to you now because thats how you are used to seeing it.

IamG3X such an interesting concept, it seems like Ben is doing it so the guy will avoid lifting his head up so he doesn't get hit in the face thus making it easier for Ben to finish the triangle choke.
it was a high guard, not a triangle choke if you look closely. and he tapped him with a modified armbar.
