From a social cohesion POV the closest examples are places like South Korea or Singapore where it does lead to a shared sense of community among citizens. However, from a military effectiveness POV conscript forces tend to be pointless with poor morale, low quality of training and a high churn rate. I would not rely on a conscript force beyond local defence, otherwise operations are better left to well trained and drilled professionals.
Putting morals aside, conscription is a stupid idea since the UK has always fought offensive wars and we all know how conscripts fare overseas from lessons taught by history
as a 17 year old that is both an american and british citizen i want to join the military but i dont know what country to represent because the way both countries are governed are shit
