Knowing that the "closed minded" slur is a part of all ministries training. When interacting with a christian, I charge them early on with being closed minded and taking scripture out of historical context. This pretty much breaks their brain and leaves them devoid of any attack of my positions.

“No rational atheist (or “New Atheist”) holds religion accountable for every idiotic or unethical thing religious people do. We blame a religion only for what its adherents do as a direct result of its doctrines, such as opposing gay marriage or killing apostates.
Atheism has no doctrines. It does not demand that a person do anything, or refrain from doing anything, on the basis of his or her unbelief. Consequently, to know that someone is an atheist is to know almost nothing about them - apart from the fact that he or she does not accept the unwarranted claims of any religion.
Atheism is simply the condition of not believing in Poseidon, Thor, or any of the thousands of dead gods that lie in the graveyard we call mythology. To that extent, everyone knows exactly what it is to be an atheist, he or she has simply added the god of Auubraham to the list of the dead.
If a belief in astrology were causing people to go berserk-to deny medical care to their children or to murder unbelievers-many of us would speak and write about the dangerous stupidity of astrology. This would not be bigotry or intolerance on our part. It would be a plea for basic human sanity. And that is all that an atheist’s criticism of religious tribalism and superstition ever is.
If you understand this, you will recognize any attempt to blame atheism for specific crimes, great or small, for what it is: A fresh act of religious demagoguery.”
    - Sam Harris

I was hoping that I would find at least one atheist, that would not be a one trick pony, and say I don't believe because you have not shown me evidence. This group is supposed to be the clear thinking enlightened one.

@@james-cq3mi Do you know what one trick pony means? His comment is perfectly relevant to the title of the video. If you go on a video about a specific atheist talking point, why would you be surprised to find that the comments are all about that talking point? One trick pony means that you have to rely on one taking point or argument. Maybe if this was a video talking about atheism in general and all the comments were the same thing then maybe I’d agree with you but your comment is just complete crap.

@@tylerelissa6377 Great, another enlightened one. The one trick pony that I was talking about, was those on this message board who say "you can't prove God to me because you have not shown evidence." Likewise, there are many like you with really nothing to offer but "your comment is just complete crap." It would seem that one would maybe, step back and wonder about the precision of the universe. Maybe you would be willing to show evidence of how that happened?

    • @tylerelissa6377
      @tylerelissa6377 2 месяца назад

@@james-cq3mi Your comment was complete crap because you have misunderstood his comment, you’re missing an important nuance here. He isn’t saying that god doesn’t exist because there is evidence, he is saying that theists cannot be open-minded
The origins of contemporary atheism goes back to the enlightenment period. The so-called “atheists” believed that it was important to consider other ideas that may contradict gods word, this was what they called “freethinking”: thinking about something based on your own intuitions and ideas. That is what atheism is, it’s about freethinking and being open-minded to new ideas. Theists believe that gods word is absolute. The point I’m making here is that this conversation isn’t about belief in god vs belief in no god. This is about absolute belief in god vs freethinking and open-mindedness. These terms were coined by atheists in opposition to religion, in opposition to theist philosophy, so it doesn’t make sense for theists to call themselves freethinking or open-minded

@@james-cq3mi also, if you say that the world was created by a magical wizard, THE BURDEN OF EVIDENCE FALLS ON YOU, NOT ME. If I tell you that H*tler escaped to Argentina, I’m going to have to give you reasons to believe that. I can’t just say: “tell me why not?” I have to give actual reasons as to why that happened. Saying that they never found his body (they did find it) is not evidence that he escaped to Argentina. Saying that sea unicorns exists just because 95% of our oceans have not been discovered is ridiculous

Don't blame God for what the Devil did and is responsible for. And don't forget that God gave man free will as to who he would follow - the god of everything evil, the god of lies, the god of chaos and confusion, also referred to as "the god of this world", Satan: or the God who created and designed everything, and inspired and provided a book of instruction that tells people to "love your neighbor as you love yourself, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...

I can say with a fairly high amount of certainty that Unicorns don't exist but for some reason it is always accepted that we don't say "God doesn't exist." God doesn't exist is as much of a valid statement as Unicorns don't exist. We kinda need to stop watering down this whole thing and call a spade a spade.

0:32 I don't believe that it's possible, I just think that it might be possible.
I speculate that the universe and the life on this planet might be able to exist without requiring a creator in the same way that it might be possible that a creator or creators might be able to exist without requiring a creator. And I also speculate that life might have either been put here or created by aliens or by a god or gods. But I don't have the ability to be able to believe that any of my speculations are true unless one of my speculations was proven to be true, to me, because I am only able to believe in the things that I become convinced of being true and real.
But if a creator exists then I do not respect or condone what it or they have created because it is evil for a god or for anyone else to force another life form into the type of existence where they will suffer against their will because they might not want to exist in the type of existence where they will suffer against their will and that's why I'm an antinatalist.
But if a creator or creators exists then I don't blame them for anything at all because if a creator exists and if it has always existed then it didn't get to choose to be the way it is. It is just forced to be whatever way that it happens to be no matter if it wants to be that way or not.
And if a creator exists and if it was created by another creator, then it's just forced to be whatever way that it was created no matter if it wants to be that way or not.
If a creator exists then the only way the way it is would be its fault is if it willingly chose to come into existence and if it created itself and made itself be exactly the way that it wants to be, but that's not possible.
And so if a creator exists then it doesn't deserve anything good or bad to happen to it because the only way it would deserve something is if the way it is would be its fault.

I'm an gnostic anti-theist when it comes to christianity. I KNOW that Yahweh doesn't exist. otherwise i'm agnostic about other gods, especially possible ones not detected by the human imagination. the christian god is deeply absurd and offensive to any person who is intelligent and possesses emotional intelligence and who actually knows what love is. i'm convinced many christians don't know about love. they've debased it with conditionality and a commodified conception of love, which seems like a hostage situation, in regards to Yahweh.
