Icom takes years from announcement to availability (7610, ID52, etc....) so why not take it to the next level and just spread the announcement over months? 🤦♂
Josh - my compliments on your video. You featured a number of Zero Retries Interesting vendors and products, and I noted two or three in Zero Retries 0152 today.
Hamvention!!!!! Love the content. LOL @ "bread-crumbing". What a stupid marketing idea. Just release a prototype. It dont have to work as an early mock up. Hell most of the younger HAMs probably care more about what the shell looks like anyway.
The RSGB President and the RSGB General Manager enjoyed talking to you Josh - thanks for stopping to chat and to find out more about the RSGB and what it can offer overseas members! Enjoy the rest of the event.
@TheRSGB I was helping work the HamStudy booth behind you, and had lots of opportunities to chat with you all. RSGB's president and General Manager, and board member there are super knowledgeable and incredibly fun to chat with.
Hey Josh, I missed the live stream but enjoyed this recording. Could you please stop by the Flex booth tomorrow and ask a Flex Employee two questions: 1) why no 8-slice 8XXX radio ? and 2) is Diversity Reception in the new 8XXX series phase coherent or just the same simple implementation as the 6xxx series ? Thanks !!
Caught a glimpse of myself on this video. I received my call sign early Friday, so I was about as new as you can get. I live in a condo so antenna options are what I am interested in.
I am disappointed with Icom. I just got my license and am in the market for my first radio. I wish they would have told us more about the X60. Do I wait for details or buy another product? This is poor marketing. They should be informing the customer , not playing games.
I contacted the RSGB recently with an issue and John (GI4BWM) the President of the Society replied to me personally. Great to see a fellow Northern Irish man at the top table.
Josh, you must have been there early cause now the numbers are looking good. Just for fun when someone says: "hey are you on the internet?" you should say; "What is the internet? I am brand new to radios."
Excellent Josh because we couldn't travel to Dayton this year, but we hope that next year we can with some KP4FRA partners. Thanks for your videos, they are a success!!!
I almost passed on watching this but it was far more interesting then I thought. I was a little surprised at what I would have said was the low number of people.
I saw you in one of the buildings filming content. What a muddy sloppy mess! The flea market wasn’t all that great this year. Anything I was interested in, was exposed to the rain.
Those guys at 1:31 with the tie down straps also make a ratchet strap like carabiner that works with paracord, they’re pretty neat, rollercam is their ratchet strap
I will miss Bob Heil, he was always at the Hamvention in days past. Nice to see Gordo there. I hope you enjoyed the Hamvention, I don’t miss the Ohio weather, imagine when it was held in April yeas ago. I remember several of the Dayton Snowventions in the late 80’s
I finally had my 15 seconds of fame at Hamvention at the beginning of your video. Well I was on it yesterday told all my friends to watch and today I am trimmed out of it. Guess I should have recorded it. Good to se you anyway.
Next year on your walk around, start a scooter drinking game. Every time you see someone go by on a scooter, take a drink. The test is to see if you can get to the end of the stream before passing out. Great stream and I appreciate the time and effort and thanks for hitting some of the booths and getting interviews with people. While I'm anti-QRP, I found the 50w and 100w amps extremely interesting, especially the power packs for them. Hopefully I can go next year. Xenia and Huntsville are bucket list items for me and this is the closest I've ever lived to both of them. 73
I was at the Shelby, NC hamfest a few years ago when I noticed a man with a clipboard counting. I asked if he was counting attendance. He said he was counting people with white hair.
Young people have no extra money. They all live in apartments. It is a work day. I could go on and on. Most middle aged people can't get up and go halfway across the country to a rainy hamfest.
Ham radio is not something that people "age-out" of. There are young people here, but they are outnumbered by us old guys. There most certainly is a future for amateur radio.

I'm PY2EJ - JJ in Brazil, great to have you live from Dayton, Best 73
where are you day two plus interviews ?????

KV9G here and RSGB had a fantastic booth! I enjoyed stopping by and getting your hand book of radio communication! Great book so far!
@@cpuchip thanks for coming by - happy reading!

Turns out I don't like bread crumbing.

Be sure to drop by the HRO booth in building 3 Josh to see the new SDRplay RSPdx-R2 in action with SDRconnect software.
I learned cw from cassette tapes and W1aw

On the flex radio, the deal with AI, just don't put that shit in the radios... #SayNoTo_AI
Should I talk to DX engineering out there umbrella
Josh - can you make a video on the rig that you used to make this live video?
Sure.
I am disappointed with Icom. I just got my license and am in the market for my first radio. I wish they would have told us more about the X60. Do I wait for details or buy another product? This is poor marketing. They should be informing the customer , not playing games.
It’s likely not going to be beginner radio.
Buy another product. Icom dissapoints me too
Did you ask the ARRL why LOTW has been down all weekend?
Nope. I figured we'd all know about it once they were ready to talk about it.
Never Believe a Weatherman.
I contacted the RSGB recently with an issue and John (GI4BWM) the President of the Society replied to me personally. Great to see a fellow Northern Irish man at the top table.
Sorry we keep confusing your name with Jason!
Lmao. It happens a lot. No worries.
Icom may be bringing out a challenger to the Yaesu FT991A. It doesn't look too busy, how is the attendance compared with last year?
Josh, you must have been there early cause now the numbers are looking good. Just for fun when someone says: "hey are you on the internet?" you should say; "What is the internet? I am brand new to radios."
What is the chest bag you are using ?? I'm in a wheelchair so backpacks are not an option ...
Hill People Gear.
Thank you
Is Icom adding an IC-7810??? Time will tell. Thanks for sharing Dayton with those who can't make it like myself.
Excellent Josh because we couldn't travel to Dayton this year, but we hope that next year we can with some KP4FRA partners.

I like how he gives the “I’m live” disclaimer to people he knows may say something dubious 😂
I saw you in one of the buildings filming content. What a muddy sloppy mess! The flea market wasn’t all that great this year. Anything I was interested in, was exposed to the rain.
Sound good
what's up
Wow! Fantastic! Thanks so much for this! I’m going to try to go to Hamvention, but I don’t have any friends in ham radio. I’m an inactive ham.
So what do you use more Icom ID-50,52 or yeasu FT-5d? Curious is all…😊
Those guys at 1:31 with the tie down straps also make a ratchet strap like carabiner that works with paracord, they’re pretty neat, rollercam is their ratchet strap
Saw you in line to get some of that wonderful bourbon chicken but man's got to eat, didn't want to hold you up.
Having an outdoor event at the end of rainy spring in Ohio is a bad idea. I used to live in Ohio. October is when to have it.
I think I might prefer the snow :D
I missed the hamvention this year but I’ll be there next year.
Diamond Antenna is there? They're not on the vendor list on the Hamvention website
dont forget to tell them to put mic near their mouths , the rsgb man couldnt hear well
I finally had my 15 seconds of fame at Hamvention at the beginning of your video. Well I was on it yesterday told all my friends to watch and today I am trimmed out of it. Guess I should have recorded it. Good to se you anyway.
I didn’t trim anything. I might not have been live.
To me the most interesting part of the whole video tour was the view inside the Collins Radio Van showing the older Ham Radios. Thanks Josh.
Hah, I loved it too!
Hello Josh Nice to run into you at Dayton Hamvention. Will see you again on Ham Nation de WB5KWK Mike.
Sounds good!
Nice to have met you in person today in Dayton.

I'd be dead.
I was at the Shelby, NC hamfest a few years ago when I noticed a man with a clipboard counting. I asked if he was counting attendance. He said he was counting people with white hair.
Wish they had one of these in Tenn.
I Oder the Kenwood D75 from Ham Radio Outlet!
Awesome!!
Yes 59
Dayton Hamfest tradition is rain...

Lack of young Hams at this, a bit disheartening...
It is a school day isn't it?
But I agree. Early this morning the screen shots of the crowd resembled an AARP convention. For real

Most Young Ham Radio Operaters live in the Large Cities!
My guess is an SDR based IC-9700 replacement
