@@fabianschultz pokey is for mail only, its quite bad against plate - thats why the hammer is here as you stated =)
To be fair, its been around for a long time. I believe it popped up in all the Dark Souls games, and had a similar weapon (if not the same) with a different name in Demon Souls.
This weapon will always hold a special place in my heart. Way back in the day I won my first ever "duel" with this in Demon Souls on the ps3. I believe it was called the midden hammer or something in that game.
So many polearms in DS 1 to 3 had that horrible spin attack. Always thought it was such a waste having a weapon like a Halberd that in real life is mainly a thrusting weapon with the axe blade for hamstringing people, but instead giving it a dramatic chop attack and a single insane spinning attack that no one in their mind would ever preform.
I'm still mad that Ol Lucy doesn't do purely pierce damage and have guard ignore like it did in the olden days... Hell, the item description even says it does do only piercing and has guard ignore, but it doesn't in action. We have been SCAMMED. Look at what they've done to poor Lucy! Fun fact I just found watching your last duel, at 11:45 you tried to dodge blodd loss by phantom hit, but according to description of Bloodflame Blade (i guess taht was opponent buff) it "After dealing damage (...) continues to build up onset of Hemorrhage" and that works even on phantom hits. So I guess this is good buff for pvp on pro levels, like yours, when you use phantom hits to evade stats effects - this one is counter to this strategy :) And by the way I love your channel, your attitude, skills and calmness
That last invasion was incredible! Invasions like that teach me how to fight gank squads better - divide and conquer, be patient, use your environment to your advantage, and run like the wind! (Edit- and kill the wizards first haha) Fantastic showcase as always Chase, nice to show the lesser used halberds, even if they aren’t the best ones you never fail to crush. I have since fallen in love with dual halberds myself!
I think one of the most overlooked aspect of this fighting style is resisting the urge to go in and Rambo one of the players, just because they have low health. Chase is somehow always aware of where the teammates are, and holds off going in for the finish if it means taking lots of damage for it. He had the Blue on the ropes several times, but knew the team would have punished him as he got the kill.
Bro i fucking love that Owl guy, such a cool cosplay.

Lucerne being ruined with standard damage on R1 and pierce on R2 just makes it inherently worse than halberd and banished knight halberd imo which have pierce and deal more damage. Its moveset is the same as nightrider glaive which does 100 more AR at this str level. It used to be such a special and unique weapon with its pierce damage, but now it doesnt even do that properly and other halberds are much better at it :( It could atleast have its niche in PVE if it had strike damage, but even that isn´t done right lol
May I recommend having a backup weapon with piercing fang? It’s a lung ash of war, BUT, it ignores shields and directly damages your opponent. Great counter to shield poke.

5:30 Good fight against the greatshield fellow. While the Erdtree is weaker than the Golden or Fingerprint in terms of block, all of Chase's punishes and techniques except for the final shield break would have worked even against a better shield, and all with the Lucerne, a weapon that doesn't have passive shield bypass.
