The Starbucks logo is so much more than just a mermaid. In fact... it's not even a mermaid. If you liked this video and want to see more, you know what to do. :)
What was the disturbing part? I thought everyone knew what a siren was, and that the logo is obviously a portrayal of one. Many people may not have considered that they chose that symbol to draw a parallel between the way people are attracted to sirens and coffee addiction. But it's not like they were trying to imply that drinking coffee will lead you to your death or something.
Bro I love how you tell us interesting stories and what's funny is like when I'm watching your vids I have a question but can't ask but then like magic you somehow answer it like two seconds later
@@trashyaccount7519 I've never been to Starbucks, let alone entered it or eat anything from there. I live in a county area, whereas Starbucks only available in big city in my country
I've tried Starbucks but to me it's just another cup of coffee. Nothing special about it or maybe I'm just bad at telling the difference. I'm not really fond of consuming "outside" food because 1. I don't exactly know what goes into 2. I don't know who makes it. Altho they are required to have health certificates, well, I don't know what disease or illness they have the day they make the food 3. I don't know how clean the place and the equipment/appliance/utensil are, especially the storage room 4. I don't know how they clean everything I also don't like swimming but that's another topic 👻
Makes sense to me. Any time I've had Starbucks, I never really tasted much of the flavor I'd supposedly gotten, it just tasted burnt. Yet it seems to be popular simply because it's a big name (and nowadays they're vocal about their political leanings, which can be a loss or win depending on ther consumer's own politics). Overrated and overpriced, IMHO, which totally fits with a logo of a creature that's literally impossible to resist and drives people out of their minds and to their deaths. There's a video on Thoughty2's channel that talks about the literal relationship between marketing and Freud, so this siren thing doesn't surprise me at all.
Personally I think the origin of the logo is pretty great when you think about it. And plus I love mythology. so to see them reference a siren from mythology and using that to make a logo is pretty cool. Usually companies don't go the route Starbucks did. They usually come up with bland logos for their brand. The only exceptions are like Monster Energy, Coke, Pepsi and Wendy's.
Your voice is majestic. I could listen to you talk all day. This was an interesting story. 💚 🧜♀️ you did combine my two favorite things mermaid with a creepy back story.

Rather than the brand logo, I think people in general just prefer consistency, rather than paying for something you aren't sure is either going to be something you like, or be to the standard you expect. Consistency is pretty good with Starbucks, I personally have only been to Starbucks the odd few times, any time i did go it was consistent. Unfortunately most other places can't promise the same consistency or quality of product. There's less milk one time, more milk the next time, too much ice, not enough ice and different everytime i order drinks anywhere else. Local or branches similar to starbucks. So i just make milk tea at home and drink it for £0.10, because i know it's consistent and i know it doesn't cost me much. Also, the issue is, that people travel a lot further and a lot more regularly so your local reliable cafe isn't exactly reliable anymore 50 miles away
I agree. I think it’s also an image of wealth though, started in the 2000s when every celebrity had Starbucks. I wonder if they were paid to support it…

I mean I tried they're coffee once in the past, but was like meh, plus it was expensive at the time. I gave it another go. Their coffee is pretty good. I'm still looking for a better alternative though. I just love coffee. I go where good coffee is.
