Après des années de disette le ping français vit une renaissance providentielle avec ces deux surdoués, quel bonheur, quelle joie, quel plaisir de les suivre de compétition en compétition. Et désormais la perspective de médaille pour les JO (au moins en double) devient une réalité très plausible !
I don't know how realistic is a Lebrun winning single's gold at the Olympics, but beating the brothers in doubles seems like an increasingly tall mountain to climb.

@@leolrg2783 He is the favorit yes, but the second Chinese contender they send, whoever that ends up being can certainly take him down. He has lost to a Lebrun as well & the kids are improving every day. In a hypothetical scenario that they send Ma Long again, do you really think he wouldn't hustle himself to near death during the game just to get a 3rd Olypmic gold? Would you really say that Ma (or Wang) wouldn't have a chance?

@@conjurermast There's a difference between olympics and other games. FZD has been performing poorly in small tournaments last year. But he is unbeatable in world champ and singapore smash (which is the largest non-world champ event last year)

The Lebrune brothers are so good. I think that the fact that they are brothers means that they have very high chemistry between them. They both are going to be great.

I don't play anymore due to injuries but these 2 are the best 2 prospects I've seen in a long time, Felix is gonna be on a level all of his own very soon, good win patchy in places but very much to be expected they would have been a wee bit nervous overall dominant tbf 👏👏👏

It has to be special being brothers and be playing at the same level and guess they are quite advantaged for doubles they have been playing there whole life together

XU was just a little out of his depth here. Had it been WCQ or ML, Shidong would have been fine, but China is building a younger doubles team up. That is to say, the Lebrun brothers continue to play extremely well and look like stars in the making. It's honestly even more refreshing than watching Truls' rise because there's two of them. Great day for European tennis.

Great synergy and compatibility, of course they know each other well.
They really could have obliterated them 3:0, but had some mentality issues.
Xu Xin is no more so it's time to overthrow Chinese doubles :)
If by mentality issues you mean a bullshit let call literally taking their win away then sure. They would've won 11-9 had that dumbass biased ref didn't call let on a point they won because the return hit the net.

@@Almak464 к чему подготовится, к хождению возле стола? Спорт, это не только мастерство, но и скорость, и сила, и выносливость. И если кто то устает за столом то пора на пенсию, думаю эти поднятия рук скоро прекратят и назначат четкое время для подхода к столу. Смотрел одну партию, не вспомню кто играл точно, но судья уже красную дал за эти поднятия руки

@@yyddod The service was indeed on the wrong side of the line, but it's not the player to make the call and the judge never saw it. Maybe they need some replays.

14:09, the score of 7-2 was correct, but umpire made it 6-3, hence giving 2 point disadvantage to Lebrun brothers. Poor umpiring throughout the match.
yes I was wondering that... I watched the whole sequence again, maybe there was something I missed... But no. Very strange !
The brothers said 6-3 for some reason. Also the referee said "let" early game when it was the service return that took the top of the net, so i guess after he gives a point to alexis when he's serving fault in order to compensate... No, all this was pretty approximative tbh.
At 2-2 in the 3rd set, the French served wrong side but the umpire gave the French the point by mistake. The French won the next 4 points to go 7-2 up before the Chinese complained & asked for the score to be changed to 6-3. The French didn't argue. The players keep their own score.
The umpire calling a net on the service return in the 2nd set was an unrelated mistake.@@trainhs5200

Compulsive viewing ... doubles is a completely different game and Alex brought his A game .... they did the sensible thing by playing safe in may of the crunch points and the other pair ddid not have the temperament to cope ... Paris 2024 will be interesting!

so like I know nothing about table tennis, but I've started watching recently (thanks, algo!). anyone care to explain what's up with the constant "eh!" "oh!" "ah!" between points? like I get when they're striking the ball, like tennis, they may grunt or shout as kind of a release of energy, but why the little noises between points?
good question, I have the impression that these are not shouts but Chinese for my part, that he apologizes or encourages himself between each point…

@@jeanlouis731 I think so yeah. Felix has never beaten his brother in an official competition so we will see where they stand in the next French championship.
Alexis still has beaten Fan Zhen Dong and even if Fzd is not at his best atm it s still an amazing feat. Every player has difficult times. Doesn t mean they are done.
Alexis suffer from diverse injuries + he won against the current number 1 in the world and he is the champion of france back to back thing that felix didn't do atm.

China cannot send Lin and Xu to represent the men double for the Olympics, at least not for now. First time seeing these 2 paired at a WTT event.
No men double event at the olympics since 2008, so it's not even a question.
12:44 The referees should absolutely not speak any language other than English. Here the referee gave the point to the brothers but I'm guessing the brothers didn't understand and thought their serve was faulty which is the reason for the score mismatch at 14:06. The 7 2 score was actually correct.
I still dont get why they corrected to 6 3. Is it all the way down to the 3 2 decision?

that whole sequence was really weird. There was no reason to change the score, especially so late. I'm not an expert in TT but that seems quite shocking at this level.
