In 2013 I paddled the Allagash solo at the young age of 55. Got to Telos thoroughfare at 4:00 pm( Chamberlain Bridge) paddled through Round pond , Webber to Telos stayed at Pine cone site. Got there at 9:00 pm. Made dinner and slept under the stars. Got up paddled over to the Telos dam and fly fished for two hours. Paddled from there to Gravel beach campsite on Chamberlain. Gravel beach sites were about a half mile short of Shady. Two campsites before it. Got up the next morning and paddled to lock dam , into Eagle, visited the ghost trains and then on to pump handle. Met a group of surveyors from Bangor , there ages went from 13 to 72. The oldest man told me that it was his 35 th year at pump handle for the first week in June. Over the next six days I went to all of the historic sites, seeing the logging museum at Churchill, Cunliff station, the Lombards, Jalbert camps, Michaud farms . Then onto Allagash falls portage ,and eventually into Allagash village. It was a trip for the ages, still etched into my favorite memories. 64 now and hoping to take my grandson in the next couple of years. Met some great people along the way. Even managed to catch some decent brook trout along the way!
I'm not being mean. Don't be offended. ❤.... You don't need to speak the whole time bud. Just show us the beauty. I could barely hear you over the wind anyways. They got nice microphones with fuzzy things on em for the wind. And different camera angles would be sweet. Instead of watching John Boys backside the whole time lol.... Jim and Ted Baird set their's (camera's) up good on the canoes. They have RUclips channels so you can see how they do it. I wanna see you do well on the RUclips's. First place ribbons ayy.... I'll check back in on you. ❤....
End of July and into the beginning of August. Temps and humidity were comfortable. Paddled mostly in the early mornings. Was usually off the water early afternoon.
@@Alleghenypaddler thank you for your reply, I’m thinking about going beginning of July, issue is I have a black English lab I want to take, he gets hot in 70-80 weather, what’s your opinion on how a dog would do? Thank you
Always a pleasure to watch. Great video, Justin ! 👍
