fact is this team took its big leap last year and this year because Mike Hart made the running game formidable again. Look at 2020 and before. Runners are impatient, not looking for openings, etc. The last 2 years they wait for blocks, the hit the holes, heck I've seen them grab a blocker by the back of the jersey and use him as a ramming rod to get open. Never saw that before Hart got here. He's been the biggest difference in the offense
@@jserv9421 Yeah, that too. That offensive line has really taken hold. I thought firing Warner was going to be horrible since he's one of the best offensive line coaches in the country. But the new guy is really really really really really really really good
Agreed. Also the o line looks great. Good strong blocks, fast fluent routes to their target, getting blocks downfield, I don’t see a lot of whiffs or missed blocks Ike I remember seeing in years past. And that goes hand in hand with the RB training and coaching.
@@jserv9421 Yep. Now just have to keep them for a while. The assistants are going to be targets for poaching very soon. Mike Hart will be an OC and then a head coach somewhere. Hopefully at Michigan 🙂
@@rockig5529 True. But you gotta love his attitude. He was jawing with homeboy after he layed that hit on him, letting him know that he just got planted by the Kicker 🤣

It was soooooo annoying at half time. Over double the yards. 18-1 on first downs. Almost 3-1 on time of possession and only up 2 points.. That's what settling for 3 twice inside the 5 yard line and giving up two fluke plays does.. But all was well in that second half.. We were in section 20 and it was a blast
Michigan does player development better than any other school. They can now play with anyone, OSU, Bama, anyone. J.J. McCarthy is the real deal, and you have to have a great QB. Watch.
didn't notice it first watch. but the play at about the 18:25 mark in the 3rd quarter when Johnson drilled Clifford going out of bounds. Johnson tried to stand over clifford, but a U of M coach pulled him out immediately. causeing a 4th down. if that coach didnt do that and we took a 15 yard penalty, setting up PS down by 7 with a first down. that was a game changer. great coaching
@@derekjones5728I think we’ll see plenty of mullings, hall, and cabana the first month of the season. I think (especially after last season) it’s important to keep Corum and Edwards rested for the big matchups. Having no Corum and a banged up edwards against TCU hurt this team. Keeping JJ healthy with them is a must.
I just hope my nightmare doesn’t come true where Tennessee jumps us in rankings and Bama stays top 5 so in theory it would be Georgia, OSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Bama, and we would fall to 6 due to SEC bias.
@@enderrebel5525 Well, the good news is, some of those SEC teams still have to play each other at least once this season, maybe more if you include the SEC Championship Game, and so they'll be knocking each other out of the top 5, doing the work for us. Blue just needs to worry about what they control, their own games coming up. They win those, and it won't matter what's happening in the SEC, cause Michigan will be right where they were last year, in the CFP
Rewatching this and it just reminds me of how unbelievably annoying it was that Michigan was trailing in this game midway through the 3rd quarter. Michigan was DOMINATING everywhere but the scoreboard. To that point they had 5 possessions, drove the ball down the field for scores on 4 of them, but 3 of the drives were stopped inside the 10 for FG and only 1 went for a TD. On the 5th possession they drove to the fringe of FG range but had a pass deflect off a helmet for a wacky improbable pick 6. The Penn State scoring was basically from 3 plays: 1) Clifford with a flukey QB keeper for 50+ yards, the very flukey pick 6, and a 50 yard reception that admittedly was a dime from Clifford. But outside of those 3 plays (2 offensive), Penn State couldn't do almost anything all game. Michigan was shutting them down on defense and moving the ball at will on offense but was somehow trailing. Luckily Michigan just kept dominating both sides of the ball and eventually the score reflected it. 😊
17:34 that play call for the 2pt is flawless. Its pretty much indefensible. Would love to see them use it at the perfect time this season for a goaline TD
Unless it's the end of the game, and he's taking a knee, McCarthy seriously needs to stop getting directly behind the Center for the snap. Almost every time that he did this in the last 2 games, it ended badly. Last week at Indiana, after taking the direct snap he turned and got stepped on and almost injured by his own Lineman, and yesterday, after almost tripping over his own feet, he forces a bad pass that results in a nightmarish interception for a TD. It's actually too bad that he didn't trip himself on that play, he would have been down right there, instead of what happened. Shotgun is the Only Formation he should be in, All The Time. He wastes far too much time getting away from the Center to create space for himself so he can make a play, whereas when he is in the Shotgun, he is already in that space that he needs before the ball is even snapped. Please JJ, Stick With What Works !!
Oh good grief. So two times in two years it ends badly and we're calling for shotgun formations only?? Come on. We are a more knowledgeable fan base than that. In addition, begging JJ to "Stick With What Works!!" isn't going to matter. Its the coaches who design and call the plays. And brush up on your interpretation of how the interception went. It was the TE's fault that that play happened the way it did. Look at how he was blocking. Tells you all you need to know. It was more of an unfortunate/unlucky play rather than a bad throw that ended up producing the interception. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with the QB being under center on the snap. C'mon man.
@@willowbrook2717 Well, that's exactly one of the biggest reasons why I served this great country of ours, and took some hits for it, I did it because I firmly believe in everybody having the right to their own opinions, their own interpretation of things. Have a great day

@Kevin Williams true. Penn State never would’ve even had the lead in this game at any point if even one of those first half field goals was turned into a touchdown
@Kevin Williams the only time they were almost perfect in the red zone in recent memory was when the beat Ohio State and even then it was by 14 points. I think it was 6 TDs that would have been 7 except for a very unlucky interception. Other than that Michigan has thrown away too many points in the red zone.
