  • In celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month, we had the privilege of interviewing Henry Hwang, DC, MAOM, L.Ac., the Director of Clinical Education for the Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (DACcHM) program. During our conversation, we explored the DACcHM program and Dr. Hwang's personal journey at SCU. Dr. Hwang's family immigrated to the US when he was just six years old, and his father, San Hwang, L.Ac., played a pivotal role as one of the founders of the DACcHM program at SCU.
After completing his Doctor of Chiropractic program at SCU, Dr. Hwang spent a few years practicing before deciding to get his Master's in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. With over 13 years of experience in private practice and part-time teaching at the campus, Dr. Hwang eventually transitioned to a full-time faculty position at SCU, where he continues to contribute his expertise and passion to the field.
For Dr. Hwang, one of the most fulfilling aspects of his role is witnessing his students triumphantly walk across the graduation stage, a testament to their unwavering commitment throughout the program. Additionally, observing the transformative impact of his work on patients' lives brings him immense satisfaction. One of the most rewarding feelings he has ever experienced is witnessing a patient, who had lived with constant pain, achieve a state of comfort and enhanced quality of life.
We appreciate all that Dr. Hwang does for our University!
