  • A bit different today - I couldn't find a straight forward, Not 10+ minute blurry or dark video to see how this is done... so here's my take on it.
    I failed to mention 2 things in the video:
    1: To get more play to get your fingers under the panel, Undo the 3 bolts (10mm socket) inside the center armrest (under the carpet) I don't think its required but it makes it easier.
    2: Impromptu video = Not thought out. Forgive me calling a Ratchet a "drive" and a Nut a Bolt... ...Or don't forgive me. I don't care. I hope the video helped you anyway.
    P.S. I know my car is filthy. Was doing spring cleaning on it. its nice and clean now! This was the most brutal winter ever and I don't have a garage to vacuum it.

    You can do this by opening the panel under the shifter, theres info on it. I suggest that method if you have a coupe. If you have a sedan (like I do), this is way easier

    Thanks soo much for this video! My dad and I both have 2017 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition's and his e-brake is much firmer than mine. Mine was very loose. This video helped me get my e-brake nice and tight again super quick.

    Excellent vid, if there were air vents for rear passengers in the center console, would the procedure be any different?

    • @epaynelb
      @epaynelb 2 года назад +4

      I just did this on a 2013 accord with the vents on the rear of the console. It's basically the same procedure, with two minor differences:
      - there is a wire connecting the panel on the back of the console, so don't blindly rip it off
      - after you pull off the panel, there is an additional step, you need to remove the black plastic air duct that blocks access to the parking brake adjustment. You can pop off the clip on the top front that holds it in place (the clip has two parts, pull the center piece out (down) and that will release it). Then the air duct is free and you can remove it

    If you have a 2012 civic: The adjustment nut on mine was a 10mm not a 12mm. Also, on my 2012 it was much further into the console than in this video (located underneath the front cupholder basically). You can very easily pry off the trim around the gear selector and then the cupholder to have visibility. Those 2 pieces just snap on/off.

    • @Sudz3

      Generally this is because of a rusted/stuck/seized calipers/brake piston. Dealership will charge 8-900 a good shop will charge 5-600 for both back brakes.

    E brake doesnt hold after adjusment. I found out today that these cars e brakes use the calipers normal pads and not a shoe style. After i adjusted it i noticed that the brake doesnt hold but the calipers are lightly wearing. Makes me think that the calipers are my problem since i felt and saw the cable pulling the lever on the caliper.

    • @SudzReviews
      @SudzReviews  Год назад +1

      They actuate the main pad/piston but they have their own cable to it, not hydraulic like the brake pedal. the "arm" at the back of the brake assembly ceases frequently. Basically, time for a new caliper. Rock Auto has remanufactured ones for cheap but they rust quickly. I'd spend the extra $150 and go for new parts that are painted. And you mind as well do the other side as well as if one ceases, the other usually isn't far behind.

    • @ToddWheeler-f4r
      @ToddWheeler-f4r 8 месяцев назад +1

      Replacing the caliper may not be necessary. I had the same scenario, but using some PT blaster and working the e-brake lever (mounted to the back of the caliper) with a wrench, I was able to unfreeeze the lever. The e-brake works fine now. There was no issue with the caliper piston, only the ebrake lever that is exposed to the elements.@@SudzReviews

    how many turns to tighten when at two clicks?

    • @Sudz3
      @Sudz3 2 года назад

      it'll be different depending on how lose it was. just feel the cables for slack. It should be loose when the ebrake is down, but after 2 clicks there should be some tension.
