It's interesting to think that Apple ditched intel for the very same reason Apple ditched powerpc.🤔
You did a really great job explaining the PowerPC history of Apple
A pretty great history. It was interesting to see Apple go back to that classic tower design after the cylindrical iMac Pro was met with so much criticism regarding expandability.
While almost all of these devices look beautiful, even today, some do look a little dated and had at least one memorable flaw. Let’s not forget the iMac 3, the computer with a 100% failure rate.
Easy.. power and production cost.. and MONEY....

Sorry, to be so late to the party but, you did an excellent job with this video. In 1996, I got my first Apple desktop computer an All-in-One 5400. So, I have lived through all of Apple Computer's PowerPC desktop and laptop models and ... what a ride it was too. Have several of these systems in my collection, including a glossy white 20-inch G5 iMac, G3 Powerbook with Fire-wire 400 ports and an internal Airport card, and like yourself a 12-inch G4 Powerbook (smile...smile).
This would be more useful if you actually included the PPC chip names for each: 603, 603e, 603eV, 604, 740, 750, etc.
Great video, the Power Mac G5 wasn't the first 64-bit computer tho.
He probably meant to say the first 64 bit apple computer, but yeah it wasn’t the first in the world
@@antonbarbone1704 it was marketed by Apple as the first 64 bit computer. So I can understand why the average person who doesn't do too much research on the validity of that claim would be lead to believe that to be true. And in all honesty, it's not much of a stretch to say it was the first 64 bit mainstream personal computer that was marketed to consumers.

11:25 And one of the other reason for Apple switching to it’s in-house ARM cpus were also Intel’s Skylake lines of CPU were so bad in term of quality that Apple had no choice than to develop a Plan B. In which, Apple realized they could do better than Intel on many aspects because of their experience on their custom iPhone CPUs.

Powermac G4 i got used from my father was my first computer ever, barely knew what i was doing
The first computer I bought was the 12 inch PowerBook G4. I still use it from time to time for the nostalgia. It's amazing how reliable and long lasting the PowerPC Macs were/still are.
The first computer I got was an iMac G4. but sadly it broke back in late 2014 :(

9:06: « World’s first 64-bits computer » ? Really ? Because I had 64-bits computers before that. If you had say: « World’s first PERSONAL 64-bits computer » That I could have agreed.
DEC did cut down Alpha workstations to make personal AXP computers that were 64bit more than ten years before apple. Sorry. Not first. Disengage your RDF. Interestingly, some of their offerings were much cheaper than Apple's for the day. :) I can remember we bought a 64bit 166mhz EV5 (4/166) Mustang for 2700$ back in the mid 90's.

All of Apple's transitions show us one thing, that there is no long-term stability in the platform.
Add to that the transition to ARM processors, if at all successful and despite all the transitions the PC is still faster.
People don’t do work on Apple products lol they are just for consumers. Linux and Windows is where work is done

Yeah, that's a bit of a flub. I think if he'd said "first 64-bit personal computer", it could've been correct.

Mac mini only had one generation with a powerpc cpu so I decided to skip it. There are other machines I left out too but in my opinion I think the video gets the history out even without some machines.

The 68K series from Motorola were much better CPUs than anything Intel produced. Unfortunately, thanks to IBM, Intel won and killed the 68K.

After the g5 shortly apple switched to intel. So much for fastest pc.Steve said powerpc was not his idea that they did that when he wasn’t at apple. But yeah all the while he kept lying about powerpc chips, you can get pentium 3 and 4s of the time that can clearly show how advanced i ntel was and still continues to be. No way am I ever believing in this shr company again. No way.
