Not a lot doesn't do damage travelling at mach 2. Actually, I don't think any solid wouldn't. _Maybe_ hay, although you'd have to weight it, and whatever you weighted the hay with would do damage.
christopher dean ????? you dont even make sense dumbass. soldier two is the one asking for the ammo, so why would soldier one say "no reason". its soldier two that would say that, not soldier one. lol you tried to be a smartass, but instead you look like a dumbass. good job thumbing your own comment.
Plz load steak seasoning in a shell, and shoot a steak on both sides with it, then grill it on a grill that will leave grill marks in the shape of the American flag.
+Austin malone I feel like shooting someone with a frozen wiener would be weirder for them.... Just some unidentifiable mush (Who knows what actually goes into those sausages).
So you're saying I could just use frozen vienna sausages or play doh as effective shotgun ammunition substitute? That's going in my survival apocalypse list.
The magnet one got me thinking, what if someone went back to the medieval times and surrounded a castle with super magnets? Like a small ditch that went around the castle that got filled in with molten super magnet. Any Knights that attacked would get stuck. Just thought I should share that out.
except for the fact that actual magnets (not slightly magnetic stones) would not be "invented" until centuries later, how the hell would a knight in full plate armor climb a siege tower or a ladder?
Oh yeah, and on the magnets one, it would be cool if it was possible to get really strong ones that spread and came back together so you could shoot behind something.
I fired magnets out a shot gun but the velocity and resonsnce caused a temporal rift in the space-time continuum opening a wormhole to another planet where I observed blue aliens with white hats making love.
Jeff, I would like to say everything opposite of that Saturn Venus hater. The audio was fine and your commentary was on point. Good choice of music, it reminds me of the classic stuff on your channel and i like that. I would of finished the video regardless, liked and I've been subbed since about 2010.

***** I've been messing with it since Friday. I still haven't figured it out. Disabled the old onboard sound in Device Manager, uploaded new drivers for the sound card. I tried removing the video card and System Restoring. Nothing. At least I have audio.
***** Okay, so your new sound card is set as default device, thats good. Make sure you have the old video driver uninstalled. Your onboard sound driver can be kept installed. What it sounds like to me is a driver conflict. I would suggest getting a free program called "Driver Booster". Then uninstalling all of your video card and sound drivers, restarting your PC using that software to install everything for you and restarting again. About the mic issue, make sure the settings in the program you are using are good and that its set to your default device. Remember before you do anything always create a system restore point just in case. Hope you get the problems solved, get back to me after you tried these things.
what you should also try: marbles nails dry ice moth balls thumbdrive keys wires/cords/cheap earpiece toothpicks blu-tack shortened pencils/crayons batteries crushed and compacted aluminium foil feathers/leaves/twigs hard, well frozen ice cream erasers i don't know much about the safety of firing those items though
Hey i noticed all of these were done from a distance and i was wondering how they would work for breaching doors? Also i was wondering if you've ever made a concrete round?
+korey roszell I think he was asking how well the various liquid rounds or silly putty would deal with things like richochet while breaching while still getting the job done. I'm sorta interested in the concept of a liquid round which I don't imagine people have considered because who thinks of a liquid bullet?
Would it be possible to make a .30cal sabot or even .24 cal and get some insane muzzle velocity out of a 12ga? Could be a workaround for shotgun only hunting zones as it would hit rifle velocities.
I just got around to watching this video. Is that barrel clean? with the lines in it? Between you and Matt at Demo ranch, Mossberg 590s have really proven to be great shotguns.
First, I've seen the ball bearing, it still impressive to see, this was an amazing video, think you could drill a ball bearing half way out and load with like a smoke/sand mixture to give a tracer effect?
These shotgun videos are amazingly entertaining, you guys are awesome! Have you tried glass marbles? I would imagine they'd be very similar to the ball bearings.
Hello Team Taofledermaus, why do you always use Factory Shotshells? You could reload the Shotshells with faster Powder or with more Powder to shoot lighter Ammunition as well as the Factory load. Kind Regards
I'm sure I could research the reason, but in short why do elongated objects end up flying sideways? I can guess that the speed and air resistance would cause it to go unbalanced one side more than the other, but wouldn't that very same air resistance keep it straight? or is it more down to the shot and uneven pressure in the barrel?
how about a list 20 ? hahahaha. sweet vid man. I was thinking list 20 worst glock torture tests. lol. list 20 is like a huge channel. gets millions of views.
Have you tried wax slugs with larger shot? Maybe something a step down from buckshot. I also wonder what a wax slug would do to a car window? I am imagining the slug breaking up and filling the drivers compartment with pellets.
When silly putty becomes scary putty LOL that was awesome! I also loved the washers, dimes, and the bubblegum rounds. You should try cigarettes from a shotgun next and see what happens.
Hey Jeff. Would love to see you try shooting a non lethal load like pepperballs (paintballs filled with pepperspray) like in the semi-bogus Salt Gun www.saltsupply.com/ . The key would be a low enough charge so they would burst on impact, not immediately out of the gun. You could test with the talcum rounds so you don't dose yourself. It would also be cool to try a DIY version based on your wax slug where you make a hollow in the matrix and load it with pepper. The idea is in a home defense situation the first round out of the gun is something non lethal that would incapacitate and if that doesn't work the next rounds up the ante. Thanks!
have you tried that "starch-ish" thing with a weird consistency that becomes a liquid when you just let it stay still but becomes really hard when you try to punch it.
A non-newtonian liquid, sometimes called oobleck. It would be liquid in the shell but when fired it would stiffen up and reach maximum hardness at impact. Interesting idea.
I doubt you'll read this, and that you may not have a .410 rifle/shotgun. But I found out that flint wheels for lighters are a good fit for the shell and was curious if you'd do a video on it.
***** that's a shame. I kinda feel like they would fly well and since its metal on metal it has a good sturdy build while having a decent density. I'd try it. But I love my Rossi too much to do that to her.
It's silly to ask but would silly putty actually be a good non lethal round. Been mulling over what would be effective for that purpose. Not sure about long range but close good old rocksalt would be a good option.
+PrivateAckbar No. The gun doesn't know the difference between some lead shot and whatever we shoot. We make sure to weigh each round and measure them so there aren't any surprises.
I wonder if you've ever tried some heavy duty sewing needles, say size 16 - 18 Sharps? I might have missed it if you have, I just (happily) stumbled upon the channel.
Hands down my favorite was the Silly Putty slug. Think about it - zero damage to your gun barrel but look at the damage to the clay! Amazing. I love my Remington 870 but i need to get a solid single shot to screw around with.
I realize this video is somewhat old, however i was curious to see if you guys ever tried an expandable broadhead, one that would fit in the shell (might need slight modification) and fit the barrel of the shotgun.
There's this stuff called 'Tungsten Putty' sold in the UK for fishing, a kind of pliable heavy material which you pinch a small piece of on your fishing line near the hook to keep the line sunk against the bottom. I guess it's a plumbers putty type binder material mixed with tungsten dust to add a good amount of weight. I reckon it would probably make a good shotgun slug, maybe similar to the silly putty slug but with added weight.
I dont know if you have done this yet, but it would be awesome to see if small cut up chunks of solder wire (lead w/rosin core) would actually be a good round. maybe long vs. short chunks. Or long chunks with wax added?
Ever thought about 3d printing a sabot round. Something like the tip of a dart but with wings that would make it spin. And probably a hole in the top so that you could fit in half an inch of a steel nail for getting the wight.
Have you guys ever considered getting some spark plugs and breaking up the porcelain and shoving the porcelain pieces in a shell? I've heard that you could shatter bullet resistant glass with those.
I'm far from being a gun nut...I mean, "firearms aficionado"...but this was fascinating. .22 shells in a shotgun shell is something my brother would've concocted in his wilder teen years. He was always messing with all kinds of rifle/shotgun shells, like taking out the slug/pellets and firing the wadding into a stack of wood, or letting rip with a. 22 at a pile of phone books...all in our basement, where the concrete walls would be Ricochet City...how we're both not dead is a genuine miracle.
Will you please make some more Silly Putty rounds, then test them against both drywall (multiple sheets spaced by an inch) and ballistics gel? I have some theories, but would love to see quantifiable evidence. Thanks!
+TAOFLEDERMAUS I'm thinking more along the lines of using putty for home defense. I'll look forward to your videos with putty as the target, but my interest is more in that of that media.
That's what I wanted to know, since I couldn't quantify the damage that was demonstrated to the block of clay. I have both lethal and non-lethal defenses for home. See, I'd rather phone the police than clean-up a mess. ;)
A 16-ga hull without its head is the right diameter to slide thorugh a 12-ga bore. I've wondered if cutting a 16-ga shell off just ahead of the "brass" so that the wad stays with it, would make a useful pre-fragmented "slug"? The lightweight wads--paper wads? would have to "shuttlecock" it, if it were to fly straight and point on; and I wonder if you'd have to glue the wads in to make it tough enough to accelerate down the bore? Depending upon what shot it was loaded with it would be defvastating on impact. Ever tried such?
This is why i love shotguns because the damage is big,can fire multiple bullet in one shot, easy to reload, fire power is high and it can fire rounds that fits the shotguns bullet thing
After firing those Shredder rounds I am surprised the barrel isn't pitted more. Does the gun still fire as accurately as when you first got it? That's some serious reliability in that Moss.
not surprised that the silly putty worked because it is a non-nutonian fluid, meaning the more force it hits something with or is hit with, the harder it becomes
if you have trouble ejecting clean the chamber using a wire brush on a drill with steel wool and some fine lapping compound. it smooths it up quite nicely
with the magnets, it has a high enough velocity to go into flesh, even if it doesn't kill you the magnets will slowly clamp together inside you and tearing and ripping its way slowly clamping tissue together
i'm a super noob at guns like it's embarasing but i wonder why your barrel wasn't like the normal guns where the lines in the barrel was turned like i spiral ? please no hate
The spirals in barrels is called rifling, it channels gasses to give rounds extra velocity and makes it more accurate. Since this is not necessary in a shotgun, its a smooth barrel
Silly putty is a really cool thing to use as a bullet. It's made of silicon, the same silicon molecule that glass is made of, so at high enough energy levels, it acts like glass. Pretty cool ammo type.
I really love 12 gauge shotguns. You can make the shell, you can make the projectile, and if your good enough you can make your own gun powder, mixing the right proportion of elements. I my opinion is the ultimate must have gun at the apocalipse.
how about shooting 5-10 cm long Chromim coated Tungsten rods? since there is no rifeling they wont spin so they will tumble or go sideways but think they would still make rather scary short-range ammo.
There was a battle back in the old days where the Indians loaded their muskets with boot tacks. It is said it really did massive damage to the settlers. I would love to see you try that.
Can you shoot a kazoo or other noisemaker, something that mimics the sound of a falling bomb for us. Bad ass on the dimes too reminds me of the movie "young guns" when billy the kid shoots that guy and says best $1.80 he ever spent. Killer video well done.
Why does it surprise ANYONE that legos would cause serious damage?? HAVE YOU EVER STEPPED ON ONE OF THOSE SON'S O' BITCHES???
Not a lot doesn't do damage travelling at mach 2. Actually, I don't think any solid wouldn't. _Maybe_ hay, although you'd have to weight it, and whatever you weighted the hay with would do damage.
I kinda want to know if the lego bricks survived the explosion of the shell and the impact. :3
LOL, I got my foot tore up on Lincoln log once. Those things might do damage at 800 fps

Yes... "Hypothetically speaking"

Shotguns, the universal remote
Hence why the Mossberg 590 won the military contract over the Remington and Winchester years ago. It was the only on to pass the torture test.
Lol imagine shooting a robber with bubble gum in the mouth and saying 'Not Good For Your Teeth' and walking away xD

Then don't use knights to attack.......
except for the fact that actual magnets (not slightly magnetic stones) would not be "invented" until centuries later, how the hell would a knight in full plate armor climb a siege tower or a ladder?
Cole Miller you cant melt magnets, if you do it will lose the magnetic charge.
cmon guys rly? just ignore all the facts and picture knight running at a castle then they find they're feet stuck
Awesome video!! :D That coiled copper wire looks like it could do some damage!! Liked! :)
Thank Jesse and Mike
Did you guys get my last message?

God, that Mossberg is a real trooper and the true MVP.

foxys2100 Now that's a real money shot
The conclusion: anything solid does shitload of damage when shot out of shotgun.
Speaking of magnets, have you tried the "rattler" ones? They are the oval shaped ones that rattle when you throw them up into the air together.
that would be interesting
Have You shot concrete bullets? If You havent please do a video on it
yes, we have.

Dennis Hicks Peanut butter would be really cool! Not sure how the gun would like it.. So do it!
dimes was the money shot
i think the homemade slugs took the lead..
I would wein after that frozen weiner shot
Very COMICAL
You gotta admit, the putty was just silly
That was almost as much a stretch as the bubblegum
The shotgun shells loaded with dimes reminded of the resident evil movie where Alice shoots quarters out of 2 sawned off shotguns.
This is the first recommended video in the past week that is actually worth watching. Very cool and obscure projectiles! Nice one Jeff!

Thanks!
+Michael Hall We will be shooting a 5lb block of Silly Putty pretty soon.
+TAOFLEDERMAUS I'm thinking more along the lines of using putty for home defense. I'll look forward to your videos with putty as the target, but my interest is more in that of that media.
+Michael Hall I wouldn't recommend it for home defense. You'd probably just piss off the thief who'd shoot back with real bullets.
That's what I wanted to know, since I couldn't quantify the damage that was demonstrated to the block of clay. I have both lethal and non-lethal defenses for home. See, I'd rather phone the police than clean-up a mess. ;)
+Michael Hall The problem is by the time police arrives, IF they arrive, they'll be cleaning you up.
Wonder what the cops would think of a home invasion where the burglar has gum, sausage, gummy bears, dimes, silly putty, and magnets lodged in them
have you guys ever shot Crayons? melted down or whole? i think that would be fun to see.
I think most of us can agree that the Mossberg 590 is probably the most practical weapon for a zombie apocalypse. You can use so much things as ammo
After firing those Shredder rounds I am surprised the barrel isn't pitted more. Does the gun still fire as accurately as when you first got it? That's some serious reliability in that Moss.
evin674 It isn't pitted at all.
Imagin if u could get the magnets to enter the target apart then attract together inside the target cutting evrey thing in its way
not surprised that the silly putty worked because it is a non-nutonian fluid, meaning the more force it hits something with or is hit with, the harder it becomes
if you have trouble ejecting clean the chamber using a wire brush on a drill with steel wool and some fine lapping compound. it smooths it up quite nicely
I especially appreciate:
- Music not overpowering
- slow motion camera
- showing the barrel at the end
nice
thank you! Yeah, music is a sticky issue, most people hate it.
*****
Hopefully they don't hate the kind of music it is, because its pretty appropriate.
Have you guys tried a Blu-Tak slug?
I don't even know what blu tak is! Someone else suggested that before though. I'll look into it.
Its basically like silly putty but i don't think youd need to freeze it.
I think it could wreck
Did that XBOX 360 give you the RROD Red ring of death is that why you shot it?
with the magnets, it has a high enough velocity to go into flesh, even if it doesn't kill you the magnets will slowly clamp together inside you and tearing and ripping its way slowly clamping tissue together
i'm a super noob at guns like it's embarasing but i wonder why your barrel wasn't like the normal guns where the lines in the barrel was turned like i spiral ?
please no hate
The spirals in barrels is called rifling, it channels gasses to give rounds extra velocity and makes it more accurate. Since this is not necessary in a shotgun, its a smooth barrel
thx really helpful info :)
***** ohh thanks mate it makes sense becouse they shot a various things from their barrels
Silly putty is a really cool thing to use as a bullet. It's made of silicon, the same silicon molecule that glass is made of, so at high enough energy levels, it acts like glass. Pretty cool ammo type.
You combined the 2 most dangerous things in the world? Legos and guns should never go together...
What's the difference between the mossberg 500 and the?mossberg 590?
Shotguns are the most versatile guns man has ever made. I have one as my trunk gun. 3 25ct boxes of #5, 00 and Slugs
I really love 12 gauge shotguns. You can make the shell, you can make the projectile, and if your good enough you can make your own gun powder, mixing the right proportion of elements.
I my opinion is the ultimate must have gun at the apocalipse.
i own a aa-12 i say there the best semi/full auto so little recould you can shoot one using one hand and a magazine
Have you tried loading a 12 gauge shell with a Co2 cartridge?
how about shooting 5-10 cm long Chromim coated Tungsten rods? since there is no rifeling they wont spin so they will tumble or go sideways but think they would still make rather scary short-range ammo.
There was a battle back in the old days where the Indians loaded their muskets with boot tacks. It is said it really did massive damage to the settlers. I would love to see you try that.
Can rounds like these be shot out of a Shotgun like the Kel-Tech Ksg? Or a Utas?
wavyheat305 Sure.
Can you shoot a kazoo or other noisemaker, something that mimics the sound of a falling bomb for us. Bad ass on the dimes too reminds me of the movie "young guns" when billy the kid shoots that guy and says best $1.80 he ever spent. Killer video well done.
Hahaha the best was 0:59!! Looks like the Teddy bear eat up the bullet!!!!! 😂😂😂
This just goes to show; no matter what you shoot out of a shotgun... it will f***k you up!
I wonder if they Fired needles already. gotta check the videos.
so...you accitentaly rifled the barrel of a shotgun?
