Rachel is the definition of resilience and emotional insight.
Thank you, Rachel, for your inspiration, as I go through my own journey of self discovery, of saying goodbyes to parts that don't function anymore, of choices, understanding what matters, fear and reconciliation.
I wish to be half the woman you are. 💗

i don't understand why she's removing it? she can still move it etc? i'm surprised they let her amputate it all things considered. is it because with her rock climbing its kind of like dead weight?

lemon ste did you watch the first part of this released a few days ago? It talks more about her pain etc to get to this point. I think it was brave choice.

She's in constant pain! She has been for the past 20 something years. She chose to amputate her leg to live a pain free life. This will open up so many opportunities for her, you should be happy for her and not questioning her rightful choices on her own body

There’s nothing wrong with the question that person asked. Calm down.

She has chronic pain. I did not watch the start of the video, but in (almost) every country there are laws that dictate quality of life. She is unable to move her leg due to pain (probably as a result of nerve damage) so, in her country, in this case, she is able to remove her leg to get better quality of life. The pain she experienced before her leg was removed probably felt like having her leg surrounded by fire being burned constantly everytime she moved it. Painkillers sometimes do not work for this kind of pain as it is a physical pain (nerve = the ability to feel hot and cold, control movement and feel touch is broken) that cannot be fixed with surgery as the injury is too small to operate on and/or to small to detect where it is in the limb or it may have been a tear in the nerve that did not heal all of the way up the leg and therefore the whole leg needs to come off to end her pain.
      Hope this helps!

It's not the pain that made her choose amputation. Her bones are deteriorating in the leg bc of all the surgeries, it was always going to be amputated, she just chose not to fuse the joints first. Waiting til she is older to amputate was risky in her opinion.

I'm sorry but this is NOT a leg amputation. It is a FOOT amputation. She still has her knee which means she still has a leg. My husband had his leg amputated....above the knee. He watched this and thinks that the girl is a baby for not handling the pain necessary to keep her foot. I know he would have done anything to be in her position.
