In ZOOM Adventure World in Gelsenkirchen, orangutans live in a special company. The flat share consists of three interesting species and we learn about this husbandry project in the video from animal keeper Markus Kirchberg.
Orangutans are critically endangered and zoos around the world are struggling to help them to survive. The ZOOM Adventure World presents its important ambassadors of this kind with two other species: a grey langur family and two otters.
Markus Kirchberg explains how this special company works and also he explains the family structure of the orangutans in the interview. He knows all animals very well and, of course, the history of every single ape is very special.

Exemplary husbandries just like the one in Gelsenkirchen Zoo, which was formerly called Ruhr Zoo and now ZOOM Adventure World, are extremely important to motivate people to protect the orangutans. There the visitors see the animals in a very special way.
Through its cooperation with other zoological gardens, ZOOM Adventure World supports the conservation breeding program for this species without breeding comprehensive protection of the species would be impossible. This breeding works quite well as you can see in the video.
The keepers treat all animals with great love and respect. You can see that from the fact that zookeeper Markus Kirchberg knows the history and character of the animals very well. Such observations are important so that the orangutans do not become extinct and many are only possible in the zoo.

Im Tierpark Hagenbeck in Hamburg, wurden auch Orang Utans mit Ottern vergesellschaftet, generell ist das meiner Meinung nach für die Tiere eine tolle Beschäftigung
