- In this video tutorial we´re modeling a piece of the verymost northern part of Scandinavia, Lappland, far above the polar circle. The home of the thundering iron ore trains, where the sun never sets in the summer and never rises in the winter.
We´re building the remote station of Abisko Turiststation from a modified laser cut cardboard kit. I´m showning a technique to model mountain birches in a realistic and efficient way.

Absolutely loooove this video!! I've spent many summer holidays along malmbanan, Björkliden, Nuolja and the view of the Lapporten is phenomenal! I still have to this day, NEVER had a better tap water than they have in the huts in Björkliden! Still remember the DM3's El-12's, the El-15' and the smell of iron ore along the track!

Well, it seems that Belgium is going into lockdown, so I’m going to see a lot of these videos, most of them again. This is an amazing channel that will get me trough difficult times once more. I wish I had the same talent as this guy!!

Great detail in your video. Enjoy your presentation. Here in the states I use landscape cloth for contouring. It comes in 50 foot rolls for cheap money. It's good for lots of projects.

Abisko is one of my favorite areas in sweden :) and nice work as always. The model fits fine there only a bit less birches behind it ;) . and the new (or maybe the old) beginning of the kungsleden would be great, even if the new one is on the other side of the road. Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

Fabulous video Martin. I see you are going more and more towards realism, have you thought about mechanical cloud simulation for your lighting to make the vista seem like clouds are passing by or full sun comes out or dark clouds pass by. This should be an easy make. Clouds could be mounted on wires attached to wheels that move back and forth across your lighting. Alternatively disco supply shops have revolving lighting usually in bright colours but you could change those colours to whites and greys etc. It shouldn't cost that much and I'm guessing would help to create realism you are looking for. After all the sun is always changing its brightness and direction. Toby.
Hi! Thank you for interesting feedback! For the clouds I think I would go for projector and show video of the sky on a curved structure. It’s really hard to get the mechanics to behave realistickly I think..

That looks fantastic, Martin! Instead of spray glue, which I'm sure is not cheap, you might try using cheap unscented hairspray, the cheaper the better. The cheaper ones are often just diluted clear varnish, they work well for an adhesive for leaves and foliage.
Hi! I’m not sure if I agree there. A decent hairspray with ”strong hold” is about €5/ea. They don’t last long and the adhesive strength very poor. The spray glue is €12, but it lasts looong since the anout is about twice compared to the hairspray. It’s also a proper adhesive. I’ve been using hairspray for years, but moved away from that. Try the spray glue! You’ll like it.
Can you make a video about Märklin signals light.
You can put a hand watch instead of that static clock so it can show the actual time.
I just realized that a hand watch might be too big. So just take out the mechanism and hide it in the build, and have the rod sticking out and attach the hands onto it.
