Great question! The short answer is, it sounds better lol. The long answer is that I like to pay close attention to the note to note transitions that happen on each string as you play through a progression (i.e. voice leading) and base my chord choices on how they sound. If we swapped in a regular Eb Major at the end, the note to note transition on the G string that happens as we move from the Dm7#5 to the Eb major, sounds out of place with what’s happening to the notes on the other strings. Like one member of the choir that can’t harmonize. 😂 Hope that helps!
