Fun Fact: Star Wars Rebels’ art style is based entirely on Ralph McQuarie’s concept art. He did the concept art for the original trilogy. A lot of unused concept designs and brought back into Star Wars and reintroduced and repurposed for new characters and ship models. For example: At 12:08 when the Ghost crew used Zeb as a Wookie imposter, it’s a reference to how Zeb’s alien race (The Lasat) was the original concept design for Chewbacca
Great series it only gets better of course there's one or two episodes that are iffy but it's still entertaining... Rebels is one of my favorite shows .. By the time your at the end of this series you feel like part of the family
A criminally underappreciated SW series. This show, Clone Wars and Bad Batch are better than most of the live action. SW series and should be watched by all.
The book A New Dawn was released about 6 months before the show. It's the story of how Kanan and Hera first met. You will not get a whole lot of background on those two without it. The comic 12 part comic series Kanan: The Last Padawan where you will learn the most about him. Set during the first season, Kanan will relive memories from his life as a Jedi and the years spent running for his life from the new Empire.
In Tales of the Jedi Canan makes an appearance in the episode where Ahsoka is training at the Jedi Temple. It's easy to miss as he's in the background with no dialogue.
Ohhhh.. thanks guys!! I was one of those overly “mature” people who would not be downgraded by watching “cartoons” even if it was Star Wars… well here I am watching people, watch cartoons..over and over😂😮 Rebels is by far my favorite Star Wars content.😊
But I hate that they didn’t watch all of clone wars first… to all the reactions channels, you don’t have to do reactions, just binge them individually in your own time. Also, the inquisitor guy/the guy taking to Vader at the beginning is the Grand Inquisitor, he was the main inquisitor n the kenobi show, if you forgot.
@@ncard00 the thing is that it doesnt matter what they watch, they allways forget lore and know nothing about it. Its still fun to watch with them though
@@Tarik_sldt well at least they will know more and will know the characters that will be in Ahsoka, I know that it's kinda bummer that they didn't watched clone wars but they don't have enough time before Ahsoka show will premiere and rebels will defenitly be more important for Ahsoka than clone wars
While Rebels is essential and ties directly to the Ahsoka show, it's still an absolutely peak series on its own, with a fantastic story and dynamic, outstanding characters. Definitely worth watching!
Rebels really is a chronically underrated series, it has some absolutely fantastic moments, some among the best in the entire saga. And that hologram of Obi-Wan's message always gets me, just so powerful yet hopeful.
I think we have another couple of Rebels converts on the way. Star Wars Rebels is my absolute favourite Star Wars content and you are definitely right to be watching it before the Ahsoka series - you won’t regret it!! Looking forward to watching it all with you! 😎💜
I'm glad you're finally watching this. It makes things from Mando and book of boba Fett make more sense too. Plus you notice now that Zeb shows up in Mando season 3
I once read an interview where Dave Filoni said that the inspiration for the design of the personality of the Ghost's droid was that if R2D2 is the Skywalkers' loyal family dog, Chopper is this crew's asshole cat. Also, both his and Zeb's appearance are based on the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art for R2D2 and Chewbacca back when they hadn't yet filmed Episode IV.
I’m excited for this, while it would have been better to have started with Clone Wars, I know Ahsoka show is right around the corner so there’s harder timeframe, but this is absolutely a necessary watch.
Agreed about this being the necessary watch. From all appearances, Ahsoka's storyline in Ahsoka will be more closely tied to Rebels than anything in Clone Wars.
Thanks for starting this review! You won't be disappointed. Plus, it will connect to some of the future movies/series with some characters flowing from and to here.
Also you know Kanan survived order 66 in the beginning of the first episode of bad batch and Hera's back story in first season of bad batch * I had to edit this cause sometimes I'm shit at typing
To get a bit more background about Ahsoka herself without needing to watch hundreds of hours of Clone Wars, you guys should check out the Clone Wars movie, it was the first appearance of Ahsoka and gives you a baseline of her character in her younger years and the relationships that formed who she grew into. Love you guys and so glad you’re watching Rebels!
Rebels is always a joy best to get clued up in time for any Ashoka references . Dam. This makes me glad I’m a a geek . Such a good geek community to be a part of
The show goes on to be even better and the dialogues, the arcs, the scenes are better than any animated show you'll watch. Keep looking out for the dialogues because they are deep and iconic, and the Easter eggs cause they are gonna be repeated in ahsoka for sure for sure
Very happy both of you are finally watching this. It's my favorite series of the Star Wars animation. Side note: Zeb is based on the original concept art for Chewbacca and Wookiees.
oh my god I'm so excited to see more ! Love star wars Rebels so much, it has a LOT of strong qualities and I think characters is the best of all of them
I’m so excited for you guys to watch rebels! It’s an amazing show and only gets better with every passing season. Chopper is the best foul-mouthed war criminal droid and his personality is what got me to watch Rebels.
Rebels is awesome, and the show gets better and better throughout the series, every season better than the last. There is some "Saturday Morning Cartoon" unevenness that gradually works its way out of the system but the characters carry it through those episodes. Thanks for uploading!
I promise you by the end this show will leave you wanting more which is perfect for ahsokas new series i guarantee u will laugh jump out your seat gasp and even cry and when a show can do that what can you say except amazing and thank you
The Gonzanti Cruiser is a very important type of ship. The civilian model was first shown in Episode 1 in the background while Qui-Gon and company first entered Mos Eisley. The Imperial version is just for this show but has been adapted to live action. Din helped Bo steal one in season 2 of The Mandalorian. Basically they are an auxiliary transport used for both cargo and personnel. They carry TIEs and walkers. The main reason they exist is the heroes can't go up against Star Destroyers every week. So they invented a new type of mid level ship for the Empire. These ships are how the Empire got the AT-AT's from orbit to Hoth.
So couple of quick things. 1 is this series debuted not long after season 5 of CW aired. And the announcement that there'd be no more CW beyond the lost tapes. As such many fans of CW were shall we say livid when Disney announced that they would be making a series set before A New Hope two are exclusively on the Disney XD Channel. When the initial character designs were released they flipped out yet again because even though it had been announced that Dave would be a creative director on the show his budget was significantly less then season 5 and the last production of Clone Wars. Combine that with the perception that DisneyXD meant that a lot of the maturity that was present in CW wasn't going to be there so they felt that they were abandoning the more adult style of Storytelling to go back to being a kid show. And despite many fans there were from the initial run or how many people have come to Rebels since its initial airing 9 years ago, that perception of rebels being a kids show persists even to this day. 2nd is this series starts during the same year as Andor season 1. Because of my living Arrangement at the time I wasn't able to watch Clone Wars as it had been airing I'd enjoyed the movie well enough after I had seen it in theatres but beyond that I wasn't a fan of Clone Wars as I had not seen the series at the point that this series launched. I'd be interested in the premise of the series so I gave this pilot episode a watch when it premiered. From the moment we heard James Earl Jones reprise his voice as Vader up to the 22 pick up I was hooked on the story. And after the end of the first season while we were waiting for the second season to start I took it upon myself to track down and watch the six seasons of Clone Wars that had been released on Blu-ray and DVD. I cannot say enough good things about this series and the only thing that I am going to say is as you go on make sure that you have tissues handy because this series doesn't pull its punches when it comes to emotion and you are going to get hit and hit hard
I'm sure you'll love this amazing show, even if you only started it to be prepared for Ahsoka. The problem is, it goes another step backward, and unless I'm mistaken, I don't see any reactions to The Clone Wars series, and without watching it, a lot of things in this series will go over your head. If time weren't linear, I'd recommend seeing Clone Wars first, but such is life since Ahsoka is coming in August. Better late than never to get to this series - my only worry is that it will end up being better than Ahsoka and make it pale by comparison. That's how much I love Rebels.
Eyy, I’m really happy you’re watching this before ‘Ahsoka’ comes out, though I’m a bit sad that you will get some major Clone Wars spoilers at the same time. But you would have probably gotten a lot of Clone Wars spoiled while watching 'Ahsoka' anyways if you wouldn’t have watched this show by then. Though hopefully you’ll also decide to watch Clone Wars (and other animated shows) afterwards, to get the full picture about everyone. I definitely like this show but the Clone Wars has some amazing (story) arcs that I definitely don’t want you to miss out on, some of which are even referenced in this show as well, so when you get there in this show you might be somewhat confused to what exactly is happening. Btw, for this show there are 4 very short cinematics online which introduce the main characters. One of them is even referenced in a later episode of the show.
What about clone wars people? Still glad for rebels. Ashoka is introduced first in clone wars and much of her character arc happens there. Please do watch it. She is flioni's dearest character ig, and clone wars also shows Anakin in a very good light. It also has a lot of side stories about various characters, it's just a series worth watching.
This is a great show, and I'm excited to see your reactions to it. Of course it's a little disappointing that you'll not watch the clone wars, since there are a lot of connections to it.

Yes rebels it’s actually really good, s1 is definitely the weakest but still really strong and obviously has the big job of world and character building, this show does a very good job of developing the characters
You guys should have started with The Clone Wars first, and we've been telling you guys this for years since Rebels is pretty much a direct sequel to The Clone Wars along with The Bad Batch. Characters from The Clone Wars show up in Rebels and the other newer Star Wars projects in recent years like Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, etc. You don't have to react to it if you don't want to, but it is pretty much essential to watch at least on your own time to get the whole picture and to be able to catch big references and story lines that come into play later
The line about Zeb being a hairless Wookie is so funny. The design of Zeb’s species, Lasat, was from the original concept art for Chewbacca.
I've seen the analogy that if R2-D2 is a friendly dog who loves humans, Chopper is a surly cat who tolerates humans when it suits him.
Star Wars Rebels is an amazing series! I hope you guys enjoy it.
Fun Fact: Star Wars Rebels’ art style is based entirely on Ralph McQuarie’s concept art. He did the concept art for the original trilogy. A lot of unused concept designs and brought back into Star Wars and reintroduced and repurposed for new characters and ship models.
