  • A Texas Republican, Courtney Gore, who campaigned to win a school board seat as a GOP hard liner turns against the extremist school board to expose their fear-mongering culture war lies. John Iadarola breaks it down on The Damage Report.
    Read more here:
She Campaigned for a Texas School Board Seat as a GOP Hard-Liner. Now She’s Rejecting Her Party’s Extremism. - www.propublica.org/article/te...
"Weeks after winning a school board seat in her deeply red Texas county, Courtney Gore immersed herself in the district’s curriculum, spending her nights and weekends poring over hundreds of pages of lesson plans that she had fanned out on the coffee table in her living room and even across her bed. She was searching for evidence of the sweeping national movement she had warned on the campaign trail was indoctrinating schoolchildren.
Gore, the co-host of a far-right online talk show, had promised that she would be a strong Republican voice on the nonpartisan school board. Citing “small town, conservative Christian values,” she pledged to inspect educational materials for inappropriate messages about sexuality and race and remove them from every campus in the 7,700-student Granbury Independent School District, an hour southwest of Fort Worth. “Over the years our American Education System has been hijacked by Leftists looking to indoctrinate our kids into the ‘progressive’ way of thinking, and yes, they’ve tried to do this in Granbury ISD,” she wrote in a September 2021 Facebook post, two months before the election. “I cannot sit by and watch their twisted worldview infiltrate Granbury ISD.”"

It’s in an effort ability all of them will turn on Trump because they don’t understand power versus force and what those words mean. They continually try to force their way and force always runs out of momentum;it will slow down and crash and burn eventually. I don’t give a shit if it seems like it’s taking forever but …’them of the facts, mam’. Now true power is infinitely powerful and that’s why the constitution has so much going for it. It’s kind of arcane in its wording and it should probably be updated so that people can read it and really understand… It’s like the king James version compared to American standard Bible‘s… Oh, I used to be one of them:raised Catholic became born-again, blah blah blah & saw the hypocrisy and said “I’m out of here …” I had to leave my family too, so it takes guts and it takes courage to be alone but eventually it’ll all get better!

Many Americans have accepted the idea that we must constantly compete. We hear it all the time, "competition is good" even when it shouldn't apply. Americans placate a dated perspective of tribalism at a time when it only serves to hurt everyone. In 2016, I watched an interview with an elderly man in Kentucky who said he was voting for trump because trump promised to repeal "obamacare." When asked where he gets his health coverage he said through Kynect, the statewide market set up under the ADA, "obamacare." He was informed of this and then said he didn't think trump really wants to do it so he's still voting for him. It's all about vilifying something even if it benefits the people who accept the vilification. And it works because people believe their is someone or something to fight against no matter who actually gets hurt.

People who naively (but truly) believe the rhetoric of the 'goodness' of the far right and who are honest enough to do the research are the ones most likely to defect. I was playing a puzzle game when something in my brain clicked that the whole system I was raised in was just based on fear instead of love like they claimed. I was out. It wasn't even a conscious decision. I too went through a whole 'won't everyone be happy to learn?' phase that turned others against me. It's practically a stereotype.
On the right they make a big deal whenever someone 'red pills' their way over to that side of the aisle. Not so much vice versa. Why? Because getting outraged and sowing dissent is way more interesting to people than someone realizing the way the world actually works. Glad for and proud of this woman. Every voice counts.

Christian values? The Founders were concerned with Human values. What was it that Thomas Jefferson said? "I don't care if my neighbour believes in twenty gods or no gods as long as he doesn't pick my pocket or break my bones." That may not be an exact quote. I'm tired of hearing about so-called Christians who think their religion is the only religion. It isn't.

From the conservative point of view, it’s not that schools teach “progressive” thinking, it’s that they strive to teach thinking. It’s ironic that conservatives want to replace what they perceive as indoctrination with their own brand of indoctrination.

When people who are not straight, white Christain men have a voice those men feel opressed because to them others having the same rights as them is opression because they have lost their strangle hold on power.
Someone else havign the same rights as you is not opression it makes things an even playing field which they hate. So to stop this from happening they fear monger that the opressed has more power then them simply because they have a voice and they are using it.
An educated person someone who has met different people is a dangerous person especially for a conservitive because they can't be controlled and manipulated after all how can you make someone scared of another person if they are friends?

They could also realize the GOP is a lost cause and just leave them, even the Lincoln Project needs to learn this. The GOP died when Ford pardoned Nixon, if you don't realize that by now you still aren't completely with reality. When they got away with that act without significant blowback they took the gloves off and threw morals and policy to the curb for power. With each election since there have been nothing but scandal ridden GOP administrations after administrations. If you compare criminal convictions from each side, it's like 10 to 1 former members of a GOP POTUS administration vs democrats POTUS administrations, and that was before Trump had his run. I bet it's more like 15 to 1 now.

If indeed Republicans DID act like this lady did, then... just maybe... I'd VOTE for her. But as long as the ROTpublican playbook remains the same: Chaos, chaos, and more and more fraudulent chaos... then it is definitely not the game to be playing. The world is too important. Heck, this STATE is too important. Heck Indeedy, our local School Board is too important to risk its functioning and role on such tricks.
So I guess this means it really is more important to the ROTpublicans to make noise, make chaos, make clicks and ticks and complaints, than it is to get anything done (I don't think it's too strong to say it like that).
It follows the DJT book: stifle cooperation, so that (they think) they will win. But now all the ducks are doing it too... I wonder how they plan on winning the election, even their incumbents, if this is how they act now?
