Definitely a nice, easy solution. I'm about to record a bunch of reviews today and maybe tomorrow so I'll play with the freebie. Very likely I'll stick with my current workflow in Izotope since I've got the pretty much dialed in for my voice by now using the batch processor. Might come in handy when I go on location to wineries or other venues and do interviews though.
I had an application to record multiple one hour videos including driver dialogue in a truck operating on a high speed highway in both day and night time. The video and audio were recorded with a DJI Osmo Action 3 camera (dash camera) with a small Deity V-Mic D-4 usb mic directly input to the camera. It took some experimenting to get the gain staging right between the camera and the mic controls, especially when the background rumble and road noise changed with the vehicle speed changes from 55 to 75 mph and the voice volume stayed constant. On my first pass, with all four modules in auto using Dialogue Enhance 2, the noise reduction was way too strong and cut in to the voice too much. But, with noise reduction turned way down in manual, and all the other modules in auto, I got good results very quickly. This add-on will be a big help in cutting post work time for non-critical projects that would eat up a lot of time if done manually. When using the Action 3 with the latest firmware and shooting in h.265 10 bit 4k D-Cinelike, I can load the camera clips in to Resolve and assemble on a time line, apply a conversion LUT to all clips, assign the DE2 plugin to the audio track, and start the render of a near final version in just a few minutes, then, only if necessary, import the exported first pass video file back in to Resolve and make any final edits to the video and audio tracks and I'm done. I've paid for the plugin in time savings in just one project covering several hours of recorded video clips.
I've been using Nectar 3 Elements's Dialogue option for this very purpose and I'm now curious to find out which one works better, so I might have to pick this up to see for myself, haha!
I would like to see recommendations for a lightweight, fast setup but professional looking mobile version of podcast lighting equipment for two participants, that is usable in various locations, without needing to rent from a near shop each time
Would you use this with location sound as well for actual film productions on low budget films? Or would you really only use this for something like RUclips and “talking head” type video work?

If you’re targeting -16 LUFS, why is the video reading at -9db below target? Which should be -14 LUFS for RUclips but only if you can get it there without clipping. This is something I’ve been struggling with on my own videos.
We had to normalize it to -23 so that you could hear all of the samples from the start. Normally, you'll want to apply the loudness on the master bus rather than on an individual track.
thanks for showing this, what about the Izotope 10 elements, they even have de-reverb, but I am not sure if they have the EQ and compressor features, how would you compare them since Izoptope 10 elements is almost like 1/3 of the price of the DialogueEnhancer2

I’m very interested in this as a quick and easy way to get my dialogue sounding well in NLE. I noticed the audio waveform track on the Davinci timeline never changed the way it looks as you were making changes in the DialogueEnhance plug-in window. Does the waveform ever change the way it looks after it’s been compressed or had it’s loudness increased? I like to see the visual change in the audio to make sense of what I’m actually doing to the track.
Hi! Not sure if you can help me. I have the Mix pre 3 ii with a microphone that needs phantom power. I have the pocket 6k which has a mini xlr input. Do you know how I can connect the camera and the mix pre 3 so I can record audio directly into the camera using the mixPre 3 ? The microphone is sending the signal to the mixPre 3 but I’m not getting audio on the camera. I’m sure I’m missing something or not turning on something
Can you send audio to the 3.5mm input on the camera instead? You're trying to send an unbalanced stereo signal from the MixPre to a mono balanced input on the 6K and that's not going to work without some powered adapters or at least a passive DI box. If possible, I'd just use a 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS cable between the two.
HeyCurtis - thanks for the pointer and video on this tool. It def helps many of us. Are there equivalent plugins from other companies ( big or small ) which you can compare or recommend ? As someone who is into video production and also a bit of podcast would you recommend this as a good one stop solution.
This is not the best solution, in my mind, but it is easy and so I recommend it for video people who refuse to spend more time and learn how to achieve the best sound possible. I use Izotope RX, Fabfilter compressors and EQ, and a handful of others. They much more expensive and the learning curve is steeper but the results are better.
@@curtisjudd Thanks that response helps. I went and checked their website and they do have few standalone options for reverb, noise etc. so wondering it could be a good investment with reg to speech processing addon for resolve ( which I primarily use ).
The loudness normalization module is easier than playing back through your entire video to get to your target loudness like you have to do in Fairlight. It is also dynamic so it adapts if one part of the video is quieter than others. The compressor and EQ also dynamically adapt which the Fairlight effects do not do. The noise reduction does not seem better - it is about the same as the isolate effect in Fairlight.

As much as I do like your videos Curtis, but the voice sounds like a bad mobile connection after you changed all the values, especially with this high noise reduction you've chosen. The real benefit of this video is your explanation of the 4 stages but not the plugin itself. More so I'm confused that the plugin sets the EQ at the end of the line after compressing. I'm really not that convinced that this should be the go-to plugin for a newbie without any audio experience. These are wasted $70 as every stage comes in for free in every video editor.
Fair point that the processed dialogue is not pristine or anywhere close to perfect. The lower noise reduction isn’t perfect either. It pains me that people insist on “fixing it in post” rather than finding ways, like with this sample, to manage the fan noise while recording. So the reality is that those people will have to live with degraded audio. And most of those same people insist that round-tripping the audio to another app is not an option. My test of Resolves isolate dialogue didn’t do any better. As for EQ after compression, yes, would be better if it could be before AND after. This is not the plugin for you. It is the compromise for those video people who can’t or don’t care to do a better job.

Hello Curtis - thanks for your outstanding capabilities - question: Tascam D 60: is there a setting for automatic level control or does the limiter the job?
I don't believe there is an auto gain feature or if there is, I'd steer clear of it. I'd just set gain and use the limiter. Leave a good bit of headroom if there's risk of clipping. Gain up so that peaks hit around -12 max or lower than that if there's risk of unexpected yelling or laughing.

This is processing in real-time. So nothing is committed until you bounce the mix or export the mix.

Zoom F3, F6, F8n Pro or Sound Devices MixPre-3 II or higher.

Final Cut should automatically find any AU plugins that are installed. I'd contact Accentize support if it isn't working.

This is a real-time plugin so to see the changes, you have to bounce the track to a new teach or to a new layer on the same track.
How is it going to perform for a live podcast in automatic mode as it cannot read ahead the audio and make adjustments before the final output?
