Budget with me for a brand new month! In today's video we go through my monthly budgeting routine and reset for November 2023. I talk about how I've been feeling and dealing with money anxiety lately, income fluctuations and more. We then go over what I spent, did I stick to my budget, and create the cash budget for a new month (I change some things up!). We review my goals, pay off my credit cards, and put money into savings and investments. Of course, we also stuff the cash envelopes. I hope you love it!

It's a situation where you really have to check your Numbers and know where everything is going. I get paid every second week but I know exactly where the Money goes. I go over my Accounts each week. I get paid every second week but the night before payday I get access to my Payroll Deposit Sheet. I see how much I will get, then I take an Excel Sheet and calculate and budget. I live at Home with my mother since my Dad died. I pay her rent but I also help with other incidentals. IE if we get something at Costco or a Hardware Store, she buys the stuff, she pays for it then she gives me the receipt. I calculate and divide what was paid by two and then I reimburse her. Several of my bills are debited like Bank Service Charges, Car Registration, and Car Insurance. Yet I know exactly when My other Bills are due. When I get paid officially on Friday, I have an Excel Sheet preprepared where I have the following columns. Date, Bill, Date Due, Date Paid, Confirmation # (after Doing Online Banking) then a Check Mark. I've seen so may folks in my Family spend money to the point of sheer ridiculousness and stupidity but they don't worry about me so I don't worry about them.

I have a pension and I’m saving for retirement on the side, I’m only in my early 30s, AND STILL I threw up this morning worrying about money and retirement. The worry just honestly never ends. It’s hard not to panic when wages are stagnant and everything is so insanely expensive, I feel ya! I just wanna know who these Boomers think are going to buy their houses from them so that they can afford to move into a retirement home on the wages they pay?! Not me!

I was pretty much on track with my emergency fund goals for the year and then just these past few weeks we had two money emergencies in the family and I had to cash out half of my EF. It hurts, not gonna lie, but instead of worrying about it I try to be grateful that I even had that money and the means to help and pay.

You can reduce stress when it comes to paying off credit cards this way. Instead or leaving the entire statement balance on one day, pay off large expenses after they post to your account.
That way you are not running up credit balances that you aren't able to pay off easily. It's like cash envelopes for credit cards.

Something that helped me with my credit cards was calling the company and ask that they all have the statement closing date. They were all scattered before which made it difficult with budgeting, so now I have them all close on the last day of the month. Super helpful!

I totally relate to the financial anxiety, love that you are normalizing it even when things are going decently! I agree that emotionally beating ourselves up over it is not super helpful, but sitting down and making a better plan for the next month is a lot more empowering- although scary to face the numbers haha. ❤😊 I usually don't stress while making my budget, but I function so much better throughout the month with it, that by the time I get to the end of the month I usually feel content, not stressed, about my spending that month! Hope we both exceed our financial goals this month! 🎉😄

My wife and i always empty our fridge and pantry to the best of our ability before a trip. It shows how much food we were hoarding, some was expired, etc so it made it hard to meal plan. Coming back to an empty fridge and pantry is so helpful for us because i can look into them and know exactly what i have so i know exactly what i have to buy. No more accidentally buying something that i actually already had but i couldn't see because there was so much stuff. This has made grocery shopping so much more manageable and i always come in under my grocery budget so it's a fun game to see how much we can rollover every pay cycle. Cuts down so much on food waste as well.

Last week, I had a mini panic because as I checked in with my finances, I realized that I'm quite behind with my savings goal for my EF due to the fact that I had a lot of expenses that popped out this year and I also travelled last May so I wasn't really focused on my EF this year. And now, I am having a breakdown of how I can reach my savings goal without compromising my other sinking funds. Hopefully, I can reach my goal and if not, then I just have to accept that I'll have to do better next year. :)

Hi Zoe! I've enjoyed watching your videos as a new-er follower. It's so relatable to the season of life I'm in, in terms of becoming more financially independent/saving/investing. I've been reading a lot about personal finance & finding other people on youtube who inspire me. I'm curious have you ever read the book "I will Teach you to be Rich" by Ramit Sethi? He has his own finance platform on youtube too, but his book gave me a lot of peace/less stress/ and made managing my finances more simple and automated. Just curious what your thoughts are if you've looked into his perspective on personal finance? I know every one is different and clearly the cash budget binder works well for you. Great video Zoe!

We didn’t have much saved with a house payment and two kids. But we did our best to save one income. It get so much better in your late 30s…it doesn’t happen overnight but it does happen very quickly once your investments go up. In your 40s is when you finally feel rich. New subscriber here 😃
Quick question though, I don't buy coffee so I don't know how this works 🙈 but is that an every other day spend (per week) or what?? Because coffee is expensive lol and $40 always seems so little especially if someone's a coffee-head 😅😅

Hii!! thanks for subscribing 🩷 I agree $40 is not a lot when you enjoy lattes, oat milk, etc. For me $40 is about one coffee per week with maybe a bonus one or a treat like a croissant added on.

The economy sucks now. The (large) company I work for just gave us warning that they need to look at cuts as below targets. :(

I would recommend you to travel to a foreign third world country like morocco or vietnam. A cheap destination and it will give you a crazy lesson about „lack of money“. This really shifted my thinking.

hi zoe you are one of my favorite channels ever 💗 i really want to buy a planner & mug but i also am trying to be careful with what my money goes to right now. there’s active boycotts against starbucks and mcdonald’s right now due to their support of israel. i’m worried that your stance may not be aligned with mine so scared to make a purchase yet. but i love your channel so much. just wish i knew that you are against the genocide in palestine.

hi amy thank you for the kind words 🩷 everything im reading, seeing… it is terrible and saddening and madening. im not the type to make a statement as i simply dont have the words and i always fear to say the wrong thing. I think anyone with a heart, their heart is hurting right now. i was raised very anti violence and that is a value i still hold on to.

@@ZoePritchard i understand zoe but i hope you continue to educate yourself on these issues & find the right words.
i would also hope you could commit to not supporting companies such as starbucks, mcdonald’s, & disney who have shown material support to israel during these ethnic cleansing events

@ZoePritchard just curious if you don’t mind sharing… after your bills etc are accounted for and once you take out for cash stuffing how much do u leave in the bank? I like using my CC for cash back when buying groceries and pc points for gas.
