    So did Rustin not pay the fees, then not tell the rest of the team that they would forfeit due to nonpayment? And also that he was suspended? On top of crosschecking a guy that was pushed into your goalie (the xchecks were 3-1...it should NOT have been 5v5 after that).

    More management of the league. He should have came into the dressing room after the previous game and said "you won't be able to play again unless the balancs owed is paid. Your dressing room will be locked and you won't be allowed to sign the key out if anyone shows up". Then he also should have been on your bench before the game to prevent anyone from going on the ice if they decided to get dressed in the hallway ... or other teams room if you guys are that close of friends

      You must be in a small town because 10 skaters x $15 x 15 games is only $2250 and double that for winter ($4500) with twice as many games. Here is Edmonton Alberta Canada the cheapest league fees are like $5200 for summer and $11000 for winter. If league fees work out to being more than $15 a game then how do you get guys to pay and not say "I only want to sub?". When I ran a team six years ago it worked out to like $23 a game and I only charged subs $20 which lead to everyone only wanting to sub

    • @bradr539

      @@chrismac5560 ok, my 40+ league has five teams and $20 a game sub fee payed in the locker room. My 50+ league also has five teams but $15 dollars per game payed in locker room. Subs are lucky to play a few games a year and on short notice hence lower price, we got a sub and some extra money because you don't get money back if you can't make the game. Being a sub to save money is viable because your going to sitting at home watching it on tv 😁
      Like Bender , getting more players to save some money works only if everybody pays the full amount before the first game because a few will start whining about ice time then 4 droop out going from 12 to 8 players costing the remaining played paying the team fees. Seen it happen often .

      I play in a Moday 50+ league, a Wednesday 30+ league and a Friday 60+ league all in the same rink here in North Central Massachusetts plus a pickup league on Saturday nights.
      The 30+ league has 10 skaters plus a goalie. Skaters pay $675, the goalie pays $300 and subs pay $20 per game. The season is 28 weeks (Sept. - April), so that is a total of $7,050 per team. They have a banquet at the end of the year, so part of the fee goes towards that.
      The 40+ league has 10 skaters plus a goalie. Skaters pay $580, the goalie pays $0 and subs pay $20 per game. The season is 24 weeks (Oct. - April), so that is a total of $5,800 per team.
      The 50+ league has 10 skaters plus a goalie. Skaters pay $585, the goalie pays $0 and subs pay $15 per game. The season is 24 weeks (Oct. - April), so that is a total of $7,050 per team.
      In the 10 years that I have been playing in these leagues I never heard of any team having issues paying. I guess the team captains do a good job collecting the player fees throughout the season. I try to make it easy on the captains and, if possible, pay the whole season the first game of the season.

    I can’t stand when our GM does this. He worries and calls too many subs when guys don’t check in, I feel like I am able to get more in to a game with 2 lines than a full squad because not everybody plays honest minutes and sometimes you’re sitting for a long time in between shifts

    • @chrismac5560
      @chrismac5560 2 года назад

      I agree however good luck finding 10 guys (11 if goalie pays) who are willing to pay $550ish+ for 15 summer games or $1100+ for 30 winter games. Enough people complain about cost when it's spread across 15-16 guys and you can't tell someone who's paid they can't come. Dman will especially complain as regardless of if there is 10 12 or 13 there is only going to be 4 d so they gain nothing from paying more.
      The next problem with 10 man rosters is it works out to like $40 a game. No sub is going to come and pay $40 even if it means two lines, so you're left either not charging subs because league fees are paid or only charging $20 which subs will pay; both of those lead to nobody wanting to play full time and only wanting to sub and then you're in even farther behind on paying league fees.
      Everyone either needs to shut up, pay up and get more ice or shut up, sit down and get less ice, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
      Personally I don't mind paying to run a 10 man roster however I'm not paying for 6 spots while everyone else pays for 1, we all need to pay for 1.5. In my experience however, over 6 full winters and 2 half winters as well as 5 full summers and 1 half summer of playing mens league (many of those on multiple teams) I can say I've maybe bet three other guys who are willing to pay up for less players/more ice and I've played on 9 different teams (also subbed a game or two for 5 or so teams) so I've played with a lot of guys. Only other option is find a sponsor willing to donate half the fees however I've also yet to hear anyone speak up that they know company willing to sponsor a beer league team's league fee (I have for half jersey cost with the company getting their logo on the jersey)

    • @MrMitchywoo
      @MrMitchywoo 2 года назад

      @@chrismac5560 I dunno what league you’re talking about but those prices are crazy. Summer was $250 a guy and winter with all those games is $550. We don’t charge the subs a penny to come fill in if we need a man, I’m fine with the prices we pay and would pay a little more for 2 lines if need be. At the prices you said though obviously no one’s going to do that

    • @chrismac5560
      @chrismac5560 2 года назад

      @@MrMitchywoo well yeah for your prices if that was based on 15 guys then you're looking around $375 for summer and $825 for winter to play with 10 guys.
      In Edmonton Alberta Canada I play in CCRHL (Capital City Rec Hockey League) and this summer league fees for a team were $6250 for 16 games, $6775 for 18 games or $7300 for 20 games. The winter fees for this winter are $11760 for 28 games, $12390 for 30 games, $13020 for 32 games or $13650 for 34 games.
      I also play in the RCHL (River Cree Hockey League) which ran through ASHL (Adult Safe Hockey League), this coming winter for 30 games is $11970 ($1050 cheaper than the CCRHL 30 game price). I don't remember exactly how much it was for this summer but I believe it was around $5750.
      Anyways I usually end up paying around $400 a team for summer and $775-825 a team for winter and that's with 15 + a goalie

  • @LeanMrfuzzles
    @LeanMrfuzzles Год назад

    The rinks I play at in Florida charge a set team fee, it's the same for every team regardless of how many players you have. I usually pay with a credit card at the start of the season and everybody pays me back by at least the second game if not immediately. Any subs pay me 20 bucks because that's about how much it costs per game with the number of players I have and I add it to a beer/drink fund. I can add as many players as I want as long as I'm under the roster limit at no charge. Sounds like you guys need a new captain/rep and it also looks like the rink needs to be more transparent with you guys in terms of player eligibility and how much you owe.

With 15 skaters that's $390 with goalie paying and $420 with goalie playing for free. Most guys complain about $390 but then complain there's too many guys. You can't tell a guy who paid that he can't come so either shut up and pay around $600 or shut up and sit down while you wait longer between shifts and get fewer shifts. @@chrismac5560 That's insane! I'm in Montreal, where we have the highest concentration of rinks and leagues, so I guess it skews my view, but our 2-line team pays $3500 for a 12 game summer season. That's $320 each (including me, the goalie).
      EDIT - And we play at the Canadiens practice facility, so NHL ice and facilities.

    • @chrismac5560
      @chrismac5560 2 года назад

      @@JoeyVilleneuve that's actually insanely cheap. $320 / 12 = $26.66 a game so if you played 16 like us you'd pay $425 each. As mentioned if we ran two lines with a goalie paying for 16 games it would be $570 per person or $35.62 per game
      Is Montreal really the highest concentration of arenas?
      Farthest east I've gone in Canada is Toronto so genuinely curious to your arena situation.
      Edmonton is just over a million people and we have 26 single rinks, 9 twin rinks and a single quad rink facility. That's a total of 48 sheets of ice. That does not include Rogers Place where the Oilers play but does include the community arena attached to Rogers place where the Oilers practice. Trust me when I say ice in the winter is near impossible to get and we desperately need more arenas.
      In the near by communities St. Albert (basically part of Edmonton) there is a twin arena and a triple arena facility. Sherwood Park (basically part of Edmonton) there is two twin arenas. Fort Saskatchewan 20 minutes away has two single rinks. Ardrossan 15 minutes away has a single rink. Beaumont 15 minutes away has a twin arena. Leduc 20 minutes away (where our airport is) has a single rink and a triple rink facility. Devon 20 minutes away has a single rink. Spruce Grove 15 minutes away has a two twin rinks. Stony Plain 20 minutes away has a single rink. And there is a single arena literally in the middle of nowhere just over 10 minutes from Edmonton. That's another 25 sheets of ice, I believe I got every rink within a 20 minute drive of the city.
      The River Cree league, the cheaper of the two leagues I play in plays exclusively out of the River Cree twin arena and is the only men's league which plays there. Ice times are usually pretty good unless you don't like early to mid afternoon weekend games because you have kids. In winter you can expect around 10 of you 30 games to be after 10pm however they also have the latest start times with a few games not starting until 11:15pm or 11:30pm. The other league I play in, CCRHL, the more expensive league plays in nearly all the Edmonton arenas as well as the ones in St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Leduc and Beaumont which I mentioned above and also plays some games in Rogers Place (Oilers arena) which is an additional cost to the team. In a 30 game winter season you'll play around 22 games after 10pm so only about 8 games before 10pm. This is mainly because they have a deal with a privately owned single rink and a privately owned twin rink which is a good chunk of their earlier ice slots.
      There is another league which I have never played in before but last winter they had 76 teams. I'm not postive on cost but I know it is more than River Cree but less than CCRHL, they almost never play before 10:45pm, if you get a 10:30pm game in that league you are cheering and if you're team is really lucky you might get a single 8:45pm game however that likely won't happen until playoffs when minor hockey starts to end or right around Christmas like Dec. 23rd or Dec. 27th as most minor hockey doesn't play that close to Christmas.
      We desperately need more arenas in Edmonton however the only plans I've heard is one of the single rinks is supposed to be getting twinned (I first heard that over four years ago and it's still not) and I just heard a rumor of a separate single arena with 8000-9000 seating could be getting built in the field beside the parking lot of the River Cree twin arena, which if built I'm hoping will eliminate all games after 10:30pm in the River Cree league

    • @JoeyVilleneuve
      @JoeyVilleneuve 2 года назад

      @@chrismac5560 Oh yeah, just off of that I can say we have a LOT more in Montreal. I've personally played on 41 different sheets (42 if we count the Bell Center where the Habs play). Now to be fair, I'm using the Greater Montreal Area, but I'd say we have close to (if not more than) 400 sheets of ice in the GMA when factoring in city rinks. We're not even counting full size outdoor refrigerated rinks here. We do have 4 times the population of Edmonton in the GMA though.
      On cost, we actually play in one of the most expensive leagues in our area since we play at the Habs practice facility (comes at a premium)

    • @chrismac5560
      @chrismac5560 2 года назад +1

      @@JoeyVilleneuve oh wow, yeah you've got a beat a bit.
      We've only had three sheets of ice open since the quad arena opened in 2011 however we unfortunately lost a twin arena since then so we've only gained one sheet of ice in ten years.
      Talking just for Edmonton as I know a few rinks were built in neighboring communities since 2011 and I'm not sure on their population grown but Edmonton has grown 200,000 (20%) since 2011. In 2011 we had 47 sheets for 810,000 or a sheet for every 17,234 people. Today we have 48 sheets for 1,010,000 or a sheet for every 21,041 people. If the rinks would have been built at the same pace the city has grown we should have gained 12 sheets of ice, not one
