You don't understand what defund the police means. It doesn't mean take all the police department's funds away. It means stop allocating money for police departments to get military gear, reallocating a portion of the funds to go toward hiring mental health professionals who can help deescalate some situations and providing new training (and sometimes re-training) to police officers so they don't go into every situation with a "kill command" just because they have a badge and a gun. Nobody is saying to take all the police's money away. Do I think it will work? Nope. The whole policing system needs to be scrapped and started from scratch and there needs to be higher standards for even being able to apply to be a police officer.
