I have not read it yet, but I love the concept and the art. I'm just as excited about Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman. I love that huge badass sword. I have not been this excited about the big two since Hickman was put on X-Men.
Fuckin badass. Love dragotta. You gotta read his ghost cage. I was on the near mint condition channel 2 years ago, and my pick of the year was Ghost Cage by nick dragotta! So glad to see my boy getting a Batman title. I loved Absolute power, the all in special …where my darkseid dominated! N of course snyder abs bats! So thrilled fr wonder woman n supes
Gen Z, middle class Batman going against all odds to take down the evil billionaire super villains that are destroying the city he lives in with his mom and friends? I'm 'All in' lol
I don't agree with a lot of your points here. I mean we have seen Batman without Alfred before and his parents, We have seen him using swords and we've also seen him cutting people up, In fact Batman does not have a no-kill Rule that just has to do with Normal humans, And no Batman did not make that shotgun less than lethal that's not how guns work. To be honest I think the only thing that I thought about this universe that was interesting is that it's Darkseid universe Which means that It's gonna be interesting.
I loved this story and I'm really excited to see where we go with the main conflict with Black Mask's gang and all the other characters who were hinted at or only in a couple panels
I got back into comics about 3 months ago I was looking for a new title to collect and I ended up just buying older comic books from the 80s and 90s I wasnt to excited about newer titles then this Absolute universe popped up in the DC All in Special and I ended up buying it and read it and seeing whats going on and the birth of this new Darkseid universe then hearing about Absolute Batman,Wonder Woman and Superman being flipped around in this new universe got me excited about modern comics again. I ended up buying the original cover and the Jim Lee foil variant cover for Absolute Batman and after I read it I was not disappointed I went out and pre-ordered Wonder Woman and Superman from the Absolute universe this new take on the super trinity in DC is amazing I cannot wait for these other titles to hit the comic shops.

This book blew my mind! I love that Bruce Wayne is just a regular guy. I had to read it digitally as well. Still waiting for my physical copy. But I already ordered the 2nd and 3rd prints!
Leave it to Scott Snyder a 15 yrs later to make another iconic Batman title that flips the dynamic of the character on its head while still maintaining the core of the character. I loved the reviews and artwork of this book and how DC is literally telling you THAT they are acknowledging an Else world adjacent from the earth prime continuity 🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@VampX13 I couldn't agree more, watching reviews on your channel, Sasha at casual, and variant comics on RUclips seeing the community more and more getting the fan base hyped with all of your expert thoughts and reliable journalism in particular with you, sasha, and variant who are my weekly MAIN SOURCES of information about these titles and characters I trust more than anything even when something isn't that good, but when it is like this.... absolute Batman may end up being an all time great title alongside, dark knight returns, year one, Hush, Under The Red Hood, Death of the family, ZERO year, and Court of Owls just to name a few, because this version of Bruce makes all the sense in the world, finally showing people its ALWAYS his will and skill NOT his fortune that make him Batman. I just hope the other titles hold up. I'm definitely interested in seeing the tattooed wonder woman title of her being raised in hell....I just wonder if they are going to link her more to Aries as MAYBE her father or source of power vs being Zeus's daughter juxtaposed to Paradise Island. AND firearms bearded Superman 😂😂🙏🏾🙏🏾, I wonder what his inverted struggle is, hopefully it's not jeans and timberland boots again because I wasn't a fan of it in the New 52 literally seeing him start from THAT level of deprivation to a fancy alien SUIT.....J Michael Strasinkys Earth One did it best JUST SAYING, because without it we don't have the Snyders Man of Steel, so here's to hoping for a successful run of titles and rekindled fan support 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Loved it. There have been so many different takes on Batman I didn't think there could be another one that is original. But this one was so different. The action was great, and the set up between Alfred and Bruce was perfect. My only tiny complaint is that I thought it was a little contrived to have him be friends with so many people that are villains in regular continuity. A couple would have been OK and would have made sense, but they name dropped like 5 or 6 of them.
"He has studied abroad." --- Actually, I don't believe he actually did, at least if you mean "out of the country". While he did study extensively during college, it's never said he went international. He was said to have gone to the best college in the State on scholarship (and then faked an injury to avoid playing), and that's it. So while he did move away from home, he remained even within his own State, which means he can't have gone too far if he's on the east coast. In fact, if Absolute Gotham is in NJ, like usual Gotham, he'd have to be pretty close, in fact, even if it was too far to commute.
Couple of things: I think Martha Wayne will be killed off and Alfred will connect with Bruce. I think the guy in the gym that was punching the bag before Bruce showed up is Dick Grayson. Lastly, I think Scott Snyder, with the scene young Bruce and his father by the lion's cage, was a commentary of Batman 's original origin.
I surprisingly Loved it! This is a very fresh direction and I'm wondering what's gonna happen WHEN Prime Batman meets Absolute Batman...who's obviously BIGGER. Great review. All of Your reviews are dope. I've been watching for a few weeks and finally subscribed! Keep Being awesome.
🎉great commentary. Better take on the new book than I’ve been hearing from more famous RUclipsrs. I appreciate that. I share the same feelings about the story.
Also the rogues being his friends may end up causing him emotional hurt, Waylan seems like a good guy here ,sure he likes exotic animals, but how he talked about the community meeting gave the impression he really cares about the people of his community. KILLER CROC for batfamily :D
I don't think liking his origin here more than main continuity batman is a hot take. His origin was always pretty goofy with the whole perfectly timed bat fling in the window and the pure cheese dialogue. The original origin has its charm, but it's a different tone than modern bats.
It must be a question of taste because it really didn't do it for me. I thought tough guy Alfred came out pretty generic. I thought the new setting has interesting ideas but, oddly, nothing hit me as new or groundbreaking. Batman is a character that we already saw pretty much every possible elseworlds version so a different setting doesn't impress me necessarily but overall I took the party animals as another version of the Mutants from DKR, boxer Killer Croc reminded me the Killer Croc from the Lee Bermejo Joker graphic novel, tough Alfred from Batman Earth Zero, and I got this feeling everything reminded me of something else I read before without necessarily saying anything new about the characters. I am glad you enjoyed, I give that I do like a poor middle class Batman better but, for the note, that was the idea of Darren Aronofsky Batman film with script by Frank Miller that never got made. Nothing felt new "I never heard before" to me. It is weird. Maybe I just read way too many Batman comics. It is not a bad comic but a lot of it feels recycled.
Okay, this may be shades of "you kids get off my lawn..." But: I've been a comic reader (and Batman fan) since the 60s (be warned... you can infect your grandkids) and I'm getting a wee bit tired of alternative, and re-booted, Batmen (and comic characters in general). In the 70s I started expressing my frustration with non-aging comic characters, and their stories without end, (except in "future-stories"). Personally I'd like to see characters grow, develop, and pass on the mantle. As always, thank you so very much for the videos. (And speaking as a native Californian, who went to school in Toronto as they were teaching us the Centennial song (so 1967, 2nd grade for me,) (my mum was Canadian, eh), Winter's coming, take care.)
He's a bit over to top buff for me haha. And too much of a Ryu from Street Fighter look-a-like. Great channel btw, I just found this and subscribed right away :)

But I am curious about Absolute Superman I want to see what they come up with
12:33 is she referring to the strangers from dark city or some other strangers I don't know about? The strangers from dark city were pretty terrifying.
Always the same problem with Batman. They want him to be scary but also have him refuse to kill when he's dealing with killers which makes him seem much less frightening.
Dude. Batman not killing IS what makes him scary, because you don't know what he'll be capable of doing to you if he catches you. Him not killing makes him unpredictable, therefore making him more terrifying.
Personally I found him to be pretty intimidating in this. I feel like him cutting a mans hand off, point blank, and choosing to not even point him in the right direction to a hospital was pretty brutal.
"Game changer"? Breath a little. It's *just* a comic. It's not changing ANYTHING. It's just another comic. It's not mind blowing, it's even that good, and it's not that difficult to make these "what if" comics.
If this story is so "epic", why does it need Batman's intellectual property to tell it? Batman is so diluted anymore that I just go back to the old issues I haven't read. However, my opinion should not stop someone else from enjoying this story.
It needs the intellectual property because... it is a Batman story and that is the whole intention behind All-In and Absolute, to rework characters and give us fresh takes on them. Just as Batman has been rebooted and reworked multiple times as a character. :)
@@VampX13 I would say it's too far away from the core character and is just using established character names. It's a revenge motivation tale and it can be anyone. What if he was bitten by a radioactive bat and didn't stop his Uncles... I mean, father's killer? The Batman name will help with sales. I do agree with removing the clutter that is the Bat-Family, so there's that.
