    Hello Sir - Does plate removal surgery have any serious complications like nerve damage, permanent numbness etc?

    • @EUSurgeryEN
      @EUSurgeryEN  3 года назад +1

      Unlike double jaw surgery, pin removal surgery is more simple and less complicated. Of course, with any surgery, there are risks. But the chances of nerve damage and permanent numbness just by pin removal surgery are low.

      After examining your CT Scans and Xrays, if the bones are healed well and stuck together than plate removal surgery after 6 months~2 years should not be a problem :) It should not effect the results ^__^

    Dr., I'm almost a year post op yet my entire mouth feels very tight, my nose is constantly flaring and I feel a lot of pressure on my upper teeth/gums. I really think it's the plates near my nasal area that's causing all these issues, yet my doctor refuses to remove the plates saying it will widen my nose and there's a lot of risks! I really hate my constant flaring nose and have seek several doctor's they said rhino will make it worst. Will plate removal truly widen my nose even after alar cinch? My surgeon said plate removal may damage my tissues and msucles too. Please advise. Thanks!

    After lower jaw surgery, when is the earliest to remove plates and screws?

    • @EUSurgeryEN
      @EUSurgeryEN  3 года назад +1

      Hello!~ Usually the earliest possible is 6 months after surgery. But the surgeons will have to check through X-rays and CT scans to see if the bones are healed and will proceed if it is okay. :)

      After screw and plate removal, it is recommended to avoid foods that can irritate the incision area. Spicy, sticky, and foods that are salty should be avoided after surgery :)

    Dr. I just got my plates and pins removed, my cheeks are swollen extremely like when I had the jaw surgery TT I'm worried it might take a long time again until it goes down. Do you know how long it takes in most cases for the swelling to go away?

      Hi Arjun, for plates related to trauma, we recommend you reach out to the hospital that did your surgery. Because trauma-related jaw surgery and orthognathic jaw surgery are different. If your bones are healed and stick together, it may be possible that you are eligible to get the plates removed. But doctor who did the surgery for you needs to examine it ^_^

    Is it possible to remove plates after 4 years from surgery?

    • @EUSurgeryEN

      The recommended period of plate removal is 6 months~2 years after surgery. There are cases where plate removal is possible after 2 years but it requires an examination :)
