I actually think it's one of the best value gibsons you can buy honestly. Its got all the right sounds, Got Gibson on the headstock if thats important to someone and these ones that are getting abit older can be got for a decent price. ideal. Just shame about my fussy fret preferences haha
I checked out this video because I have one of these as a well as a real 1961. The 2010 goes to gigs, the 1961 stays safely at home. I liked your take on the guitar but have never really minded the frets. Oddly my 1961 has jumbo frets, but they're in great shape so probably not original. And a nod to your playing, thought it was very good, just the right approach to demo and accurately hear both guitars, not a ton of disto or shredding. Then you say you've got only 5 years at it. Fine stuff, good on ya mate.
I have this one in white. Yes. I've been toying with having it painted like Clapton's "The Fool". That would be very cool. SG is a Les Paul with a slightly different character from the thick one. They're much lighter and much better for playing at the highest frets. SG is my guitar of choice for long sets/gigs and for touring. They don't drag you down when carrying them and you can take them on board with you when you fly. In a soft case they easily fit into a airliner's coat closet and/or overhead compartment. If you find a good one, my advice: do not hesitate, snatch it up.
@@Paul-D Well, I did that on many occasions. I suppose that there may be some overheads that are two small or already full of others' stuff, but the ones on the airplanes I flew on were fine. There is always the coat closet.
I've got a 2008 61 reissue. Great neck and overall an excellent guitar. FYI, the inlay on the headstock is HIGHER than on the standard. It's a tell tale way to distinguish between the two.
The secret will be out the bag before too long and that era will start getting more expensive haha I couldnt remember which way round it was in the heat of the moment haha - downside to never having a script i suppose 😅
@@Paul-D at least when i bought it in 2010 for 1365€ it was. I was looking for an sg and tried an standard too for a little less money but there was no argument. The standard sounded generic an the 61 had that bite and classic crunchy tone. No contest
Yeh the new prices are a different chat in all brands now. Theyve gone abit nutty. But you can still find a similar era used ‘61 for about £1100 and i think it would be reallly tough today to spend 1100 on a Gibson and beat this.
Not sure which ones other then the Custom have ebony. But for a few years around 2013 they made the SG standard basically a ‘61 with modern frets and regular headstock and neck join
I bought one of these rigs this Christmas past and I can not believe how much I love this guitar.

Learning to Fly. Getting one!
Really hope i get to see Foo Fighters next year. If the tickets arent 400 quid 🤣
I bought a used 2007 61 reissue a few years back. Been playing 45 years and for the first time I now have everything I've wanted in a guitar.

Thanks man I appreciate that. And having a real 61 and this sounds like a joy! Especially if the 61 has jumbos for my taste haha.

Had no idea they would fit in an airliners overhead haha.

Opening song got me hooked. Man I miss Tom Petty. Well done!
So many great songs and even better life stories from Tom Petty
Nice sounding SG, some fine playing as well!
Thank you kindly!
I have the standard, love it.
I’ve always wanted the king of Gibson and the color
My SG 61 ...1996 rock vintage cherry ...great soand!!! Poland
Yup the early/mid 90s gibsons have really come up in price too making it more expensive then this one to purchase atm.
Like your playing 👍
Thank you i do keep trying to improve steadily haha. All part of the fun!
Ain't gonna believe this, dude . But I've gone on the t468 idea for now, and I've been looking at the 61 sg . Then look who's vid pops up. 😂 👍
no way haha. I still believe the SG is the best value offering from Gibson you can get. And especially the SG 61

I also have a 2007 SG 61 reissue. I think head is bigger than 61 reissues these days.
Yeh i think so too
Good video!
appreciate it :)
I'm partial to the 2004 61 reissues. That's tge one I had, with the 57 classics.
the 57 classics just work so well especially on an SG I think
I like those Eastmans, but the SG sound is thicker and full.
Just has more gibson sound that your familiar with i think
A used 61 reissue is the only Gibson people should consider if not buying custom shop. By far the best bang for your Buck Gibson
Thats my conclusion too, glad im not the only one haha
Between the SG 61 reissue and the SG 61 Nashville reissue, the only difference is the ABR-1 style bridge ?
Ill be honest I’ve not heard of a 61 nashville reissue. But the bame suggests it would be down to how the bridge is mounted to me
Tom Petty-Learning to fly wonderful song,i have a Gibson sg 61 reissue too from 2009
It is, RIP Tom Petty!
Do you agree that particular model is probably the best bang for buck real Gibson you can get?

@@Paul-D now i would like to have a les paul but i'll have to save up a lot still 😂 but if i buy one i want it to be a good one
What is the name of the model (and what years were they produced) that has the ebony board w/ wider frets?
Not sure which ones other then the Custom have ebony. But for a few years around 2013 they made the SG standard basically a ‘61 with modern frets and regular headstock and neck join
@@Paul-D thanks!
Я влюбился в эту гитару когда первый раз увидел Ангуса 🤘
2013's came like that with the standard price.
good info. the SG T in 2018 is a similar story I think. Not exactly the same, but close.
I love the SG, but I tell you the Eastman kills it!
What is the type of pickup?
Classic 57 on these
I have the standard, love it.
A 2013 standard by chance?
