"But you know what's also free? A checkmate". That was ice cold. Absolute mic drop moment
You know what's also free? A checkmate! 😵
OOHHHHHH 😱🥶🥶🥶
Costs you some happiness (unless you aren’t the one getting mated)
Brutal 😅
a checkmate ? .... .... oooh ..... OoOoOoh .... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH ! 🤐
OHHHHHHHH 😬😬
He was all in on the "They can't read me if I don't know what I'm doing" strat.
Sounds like my chess strategy!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The trash talk is real but respectful, and definitely part of his mindgame. The fact that she was able to go toe to toe with him both on the board and in wit definitely surprised him
Yeah she cheated with the title too...😂
@@matthewrobey9806 That was an "en passant" capture, which she pointed out. Under the right circumstances, a pawn can capture another pawn by passing it by, hence "en passant." Totally legal play
She didn't cheat. You just don't know the game that well. 😂
"trash...but respectful"
smh
If you need to be good at other games to be alright at chess, your chess game is weak.
He has a genuine smile when she executes such a nice checkmate. Despite his talking, I think he genuinely respects and likes her.
Indeed, also look at his handshake and nod.
He turned his palm up , making her the dominant. And he nods his head like a small bow.
@@RetroDree Please, don't make this look as if everything he did had been intentional. It's a perfectly normal handshake and a perfectly normal acknowledging nod. And I don't think he disliked or disrespected her at any point. It wasn't aggressive trash talk, it was clearly just for fun.
@@jefdarcy Not everyone needs to think so simple minded. It is what it was. Kind.
You just can't accepted that he underestimated her because of her sex.
@@jefdarcy When people do things, why would you not assume it's intentional. You go around in a haze just doing things unintentionally? Please just shut up. As in close your mouth and stop talking.
He should've used his B game.
lol. I think that was his A game, more likely than not. I think Anna beats him every day of the week.
LOL - good one!
Why not Z-game
😂😂😂
He doesn’t even have a E game….
"I'm the strongest 750 player you'll ever meet."

An actual smothered mate, so rare in an actual game. Well played.
Actual actual
Actual actual
First time I've seen that!
I've hit it loads of times might be rare in tourneys not on the net
That was a work of art, she was 3 moves ahead of him, when she said checkmate he had no idea.
Because it was staged that way
I didn't either, lol
Nope wasn't staged she could have gone a different route and she decided to drag it out a bit more. That was nice!
@@brianpage7569 holy fuckenshit i cannot stop laughing at this comment 🤣🤣 is it possible to know LESS than chess than you do? 😂😂
@@tdf123emcee2 she thought ahead on how it would be perceived as staged if she finished too early....so she took the different route...checkmated everybody....
the reaction when she said 'checkmate' was unbelievable
it was LEGENDARY HAHAHA
Couldn't he have used his queen or knight to kill her knight here 3:36 tho?
@@syr3472 no it was a check with the quinn too
@@syr3472 it was forced
Ahhh yess now I notice it
That really was a beautiful checkmate. I did not see all that coming.
I saw the double check coming after the castle. I did not see the follow-up to smother-mate.
@@JohnnyV83 The follow up is so easy to see. If you do a couple puzzles daily, you’ll be able to see checkmate patterns like that. Once every 7-10 checkmates they will include a smothered mate in there
@@masudkhoa3861WRONG
He lost that when he fouled with his rook (once you touch a piece you have ro move it)!
@@DarrenJamiesonJamieson He says with such certainty, completely ignorant.
That was far from trash talking. That was just good-natured banter between two good players
Nah, he was being serious about not thinking she could keep up with him but after the match he looks like he acknowledges that sinstead of making excuses
@@GalenMarekOfficialhe knew she was a grandmaster and she had already beaten him before. He was not serious. Just bantering

FACTS
It's our life as low level players 😅
I have never won a game of chess, and I’ve played versus no one. I literally can’t beat no one.
@@pilgrimsprogress3237lol I don’t even know where to get started in trying to get better
@@pilgrimsprogress3237 I used to think I was very good, elementary, junior high and high school and then realized I was very average at best. It was just because my opponents weren't very good as I was only thinking 2 or 3 moves ahead while these professional level players think way more moves and will actually manipulate you into where they want you to move. I still play recreationally but not at these levels.
Anyone into chess can greatly appreciate the beauty of that mate sequence in the end. This was pure art.
I've never seen that but it was beautiful
5 moves ahead 🤯
Yes I loved every second of it.
I don't understand chess at all and find it totally boring and complicated in the rules.
Agreed, and the most beautiful part about it is he never saw it coming...
Indeed a beautiful checkmate - what good fun the opponent was
This is the most beautiful mate I've seen for a while. Well done!
Holy shit probably one the best checkmates I've seen on this channel. If your not creating art are you really playing chess. Anna made a work of art!
Pretty awesome!
😂❤
Smothered mate is always pretty.
Good old smother mate, straight out of a chess puzzle.
come on he had just blundered a full knight
Anna cramling is prob the most wholesome even if shes trash talking it sounds like she dont mean it lmao
You could tell that she was upset about him saying he wasn't going to bring his A game by her facial expression, tone, and the fact she mentioned it again mid-way through the game. She clearly really wanted to beat him.
Stop being a simp and grow up!
Yea. 100% wife material. Without a doubt.
@@guywithalltheanswers6942 In all of our dreams. I know what you mean though, she has that personality and light/energy. Even when she ages and her looks fade, will still be great to be around. I've only known one woman like that in my entire life. It is a rare quality to find in people, and it's not just b/c she is super cute.
@@johns7530 Yea, she is just super kind and positive all the time.
Impressive way to outsmart someone who tried to initimidate her. By makung the correct moves while responding wisely in her speech.
When her knight first checked, he should have taken the knight rather than retreating.
What a glorious checkmate. I watched it about five times, it was so gorgeous. The reactions from the crowd, too. Getting double-ponied is such a good way to go.
Stockfish fell in love with those moves
DOUBLE PONIED!
😹😂
It's always nice to see it in a game, but it's worth pointing out that smothered mate is well-enough known to have a name.
Nah, I'm gonna call it double-ponied from now on 🤌😆
I love that you declared the checkmate before he could see it 🙂
Before I could see it as well 😂

She seems so sweet and harmless but she's an absolute shark on the board. I'd be happy with myself if I could even manage a defense against her for as long as he did.
I've watched this a dozen times. It's my fav chess video. I have no idea at all how she saw that developing so far in advance. Just amazing.
I used to play with a grandmaster friend (I suck). He’d say “mate in 7” and point it out, daring all of us to figure a way out. We never did. I even made him play with no queen, it was still a piece of cake for him. Strong chess players are a different breed.
Wow, that is an amazing story. I wonder how their minds work when it comes to chess.
I had a friend that would play this way for years , bet in check in 6 or 7 moves . Won 20 to 1 times . FUN &FAST
Strong chess players are a “different breed” against amateurs. Who would have thought
@@jonbayuga3238 You have to really experience it to see the true magnificence. My GM friend even played blindfolded all the time, he still beat us easily. Or we’d play with a chess clock and give him 2 min for the whole game, still no problem. But still, the biggest laughs were when we made him play with no queen. He’d gobble up our pieces, and promote his pawns 6-7 times, seeing how many queens he could get without a checkmate or stalemate, just to mess with us.
Another fun thing was watching him checkmate with only a knight and bishop. None of us could do it, but he did it with ease.
Wow that checkmate was beautiful
it reminded me that there is "moving one's pieces," even "intelligently moving one's pieces," and then there is being ON TASK, playing intensely for mate and nothing less.
Ahhhhh, the classic smothered mate!!! Even a 600 elo player who gave a little damn about this game would have known
@@thatslegend2975 Doesn't change the fact that it's beautiful. It's a queen sac after all

Regardless of his trash talk, he was being a good sport. I think both Drew and Anna were enjoying each other’s quips.
No she wasnt but he was ????
@@Oliverphippen you're dumb as fu-k lol she was
I disagree, being a psychiatric nurse has given me a great read on body language, and him getting up IMMEDIATELY and walking away with his tail between his legs saying "it is what it is", is NOT a good loser... he walked away in shame, meaning he allows his emotions to get the better of him... I love how it was full banter but as soon as she put down uer set up that man knew it and his brain felt it, he was all in lock on mode giving his opponent their respect
Seeing him go from banter to focus in a split second for an opponent that 1000% deserves it, that was my favourite moment
Also nice checkmate!
Bro was actually really nice. Not that blabbering like some player do.
she had her field poised to attack from every angle... beyond impressive. the banter was perfect lol
That was so G-rated and nonsensical that one could hardly consider that banter. "I'm thinking about a lot of things" Perfect? More like perfect cringe. I did enjoy it tho so there is that. Maybe you got a point.

@@elastivjust looked it up - The rule of en passant says that when a pawn moves two squares on one turn, the very next move an adjacent pawn may capture that pawn as if it had only moved one square. The move was invented to prevent players from locking up the chessboard with pawns.
@@elastiven passe isn't cheating..
I love these street games. The banter and camaraderie is second to none. Chess really does bring people together ❤
I think it's cool she's hanging with the hustlers. It's such a great scene. Every big city in the world has their hustlers. Hopefully she thinks about going on tour and doing similar vids in El Lay, Frisco, Miami, Chicago, Dallas.
Go for it!!!!!
He definitely respected her a lot more at the end with that handshake and lowering of the head
I am 50 years old now and I am just starting to learn chess. One of the reasons to pick it up now is that I really like the attitude and respect between opponents. I've hardly ever seen something similar in other sports.

She has Boston Mike as a cheerleader, you bet she’s learning!
When in Rome.... :)
As a lover of the game of Chess, this is one of the best games I've ever watched. I really admire his humility in the end. That smile of defeat on his face was priceless.😀
That wasn't the beautiful quality of humility, which more people should cultivate.
It was HUMILIATION.
Exactly
@@ssettev9361 nah it wasn't a humiliation for a 750er vs a FM. It was a predictable MASSACRE... real talk🤷🏿
@@williamd3051 You have point but when he said he had 750 it was over imo. Also he was too confident, if you say you're 750 better behave like one to increase you chance to win. Or act like a confidence lacking loser to trick Anna lol..
She mated him with 2 knights. That's just plain ruthless.
One of the most beautiful checkmates I’ve seen in a while.
Love the atmosphere during that game. Trash talk, but then nothing but respect and the crowd goes wild :D
Her joy on checkmate made me happy..she's a happy soul
That was slick. To see the way a grandmaster puts together a game against a novice really brings into focus the difference in ability.
“And a beautiful one”
The crowd audibly realizes the smothermate
Setting him up so smoothly that he didn’t even see checkmate in 3 is what separates good from great 😂
I mean missing the discovery check is serious 750 elo behaviour. Basic tactic.
craziest part is that she got him set up to get trapped in the corner 😂
He didn't even see it in 2, after 1st rook move.
isn't it "zugzwang" when the checkmate is inevitable in multiple moves?
She defeated some mouthy hobo. She will never win against a real player.
That was an amazing check mate I did not see coming! Very nice Anna
I not only didn't see it coming, I had to replay it in slow motion to even understand it! A double discovered check and a queen sacrifice to mate with a pair of nights against two rooks and a queen.... Fantastic!
That’s not trash talking. That’s just banter.
After seeing this I want "trash talk" instituted as a category at tournaments. You can just call it "banter" or whatever but seeing you two exchange taunts over what the other was doing was immensely entertaining.
This was fun to watch, and to see him eat his words as you get him with a classic smothered mate as well.
The engine spotted that lovely finish three moves ahead of me. I'm thinking whoa, why did the black bar just go off the scale.
That was a very classy checkmate : Anna warned him that she had so many things that she wanted to do and then boom!
That was one of slickest checkmates I’ve ever seen 👏 👏
She saw the checkmate well before he had a clue…way before I saw it also 😂 Wow sacrifice the Queen and kill with double knights. 👏👏👏
That was the BEST CHECKMATE Ive seen on Coffee Chess !!! Anna is my absolute favorite chess streamer !!

I always hated trash talking. Playing board games or on the field. But I do find it gratifying when you can make it stop
It's nice to see we've entered an era where excellent chess players are stable people. :)
That happened when Bobby Fisher died. A God-like player with an unstable, twisted mind.
They are not stable. They just pretend to be it. LOL
There was only one excellent chess player present here.
The other not at all.
Visit Anna in 40 years and she'll probably be a recluse living in a plywood shack in the forest, mailing pipe bombs to professors, remain unbathed for months on end, with untrimmed fingernails 6 inches long, sleeping in a bed stained with feces and urine, and starving to death... So it's a little too soon to call her stable.
