Massive genesis and Phil fan..always knew his son had a band but don't know why I never looked into them before now..impressed..defo bit a genesis and Phil in him..great voice aswell ..
I have just ordered this album, the songs I have heard sound great. I was into Genesis, Yes, Tull, Camel, Zeppelin, Sabbath etc., in the 1970's and had nearly given up hearing anything that good again until I bought Steven Wilsons 'The Raven That Refused to Sing' and went to the Manchester gig and was totally blown away for the 1st time in ages. Maybe there is hope for rock with bands like these. Many thanks to Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree and Sound of Contact.
@blackfieldpain I couldn’t agree more !! I was so bored and disillusioned about new music until I discovered Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree 13 years ago .. I’m never ever bored now This album was highly recommended by SW/PT fans I just got turned into John Mitchell- Lonely Robot through SWs floral Green cover .. if you love this album , I guarantee you’ll love LR - Please Come Home and The Big Dream ..it’s a must listen
Arrangement is really good. This is not yet pop, but almost progressive. Easy listening, but with deep harmonical and lyrical impact on. 5+ for really good video and great music.
Long, long time fan of Collins and Genesis, this is the first song I've heard from his son. I agree there are clearly a lot of influences at play here. I'm going to keep an eye on these guys. It seems they are close to finding a voice that could be quite good.
As a huge genesis/collins fan I've been lurking around watching and waiting for Simon to have a sound that would grab my attention (as his Phil did)...and I'm delighted to say this is what I've been waiting for. Yes...you can't deny he looks and sounds like his dad...even on the drums.....But that's the best part. He has all the qualities that kept me a loyal follower for 30 years. I love that he has his own style in between all the similarities. Success is sure to follow :)
Cannot wait to see these guys in concert. So far have tickets to the show in Sellersville, PA and New York City (meet and greet!) And then one other show that I don't think has been officially announced. Love the sounds from this album. Every single song is beautiful.
Did you write this nine years ago... 2013? If so, wow! I cannot believe they have been around so long and I had not heard of them (not that I hear of all music).
love it.. and it really shows that women do not like drunk men. or women for that matter. it gets old really fast.. and no one wants to be around someone who OD's any time. that aside.. love it.. love the sound.. and Simon's voice singing is great.. words mean a lot.. you are not coming down.
This song is awesome! It took me about 3 listens to really appreciate. I can't wait to see them on The Cruise To The Edge in April. These guys could blow the veterans right off the boat. The whole album is very good. I don't think there is anyone who can't relate to this song. Haven't we all been there?
Excellent job Simon !! Saw them live on CTTE..for a young prog band they were pretty tight. But i wasn't sold on Simon's vocals live, all that much...room for improvement. The sound on this vid is mush better than live. his voice I mean. I did'nt intend to look down on his vocal ability, certainly he learned from the best ! But I like his look, This contact thing is a great place for writing prog music. You could go on forever.....GOOD LUCK SIMON. and much success to you and your band !!
I really like the music and video too! Slick! It definitely has that nice experimental feel to it..reminds me of a mix of early GENESIS and YES and a bit of Pink Floyd too! Plus the song is current sounding!
Awesome video...Simon's voice has developed in something unique... the song is fantastic... So sad I couldn't see them live duirng their first european tour...:(
Just got this album and I don't often love an album after just one play but these guys really do it for me. Another thing... now I know quite often sons look like their father but I've never heard of a son sounding like his father. Phil is reincarnated thru Simon. If you haven't got this album you Proggers out there.I suggest you put the bong down..get off your arse and get this album post haste...I promise you , you won't regret it.
they did blow some of the veterans right out of the water on the Cruise to the Edge, Buffalo...they blew my mind...was already loving the cd but seeing them live just sealed it...this video is so scary and real, truly affected me emotionally- great song...my favorite on the cd
This song is great! I enjoy the fact that Simon Collins is a singing drummer, just like his pops. I am looking forward to getting the CD (Although I wish it would be on vinyl with a download. :-( ) I hope SoC plans on touring in the United States....
Very interesting song...another Powerful message from Simon Collins...I know the story of the train approaching on the tracks...My friend was telling me about the time she had to drag her passed out boyfriend off the tracks as a train was approaching...I viewed this video for the first time today and was amazed by the visual metaphors...
This album is seriously good, the production is spot on professional and it sounds polished, though not in a big and bombastic show off sense. The chord structures and melodies flow, and the band also know how too take their time. True, its not easy to mention Simon without mentioning his dad, but, this is Simon and his friends time, and this album stands alone. Plus, if his dad wasn't Phil Collins this album would STILL stand alone as a great accomplishment...10/10...G...
Brenda. Actually Simon is guesting with Steve Hackett in his Genesis Revisited 2 show but Sound of Contact is not opening for Hackett. SOC will, however, be playing a full show of their own on Sept 19th at the same theater.
agree with dodtwenty thrilled to bits to hear this and ditto on the long term fan thing album ordered and can't wait. Obvious homage with assured uniqueness! :)
this is a really splendid song!!! there's no shadow of phil here;it's real talent!!it sounds a little porcupine tree....there is the great John Wesley!!!....
This video is so much better than I was expecting. I really like the song and it grows on me each time I hear it. Can't wait to get my CD. Great cinematography, btw. Big hello to Daddy Squids! LOL
Wow. This is really good. Mid tempo poppish rock with prog leanings. Just like Julian Lennon, he looks and sounds so much like his dad. I notice he plays the kit righthanded tho (his dad plays left - I know this because I was a left-handed drummer myself). Clearly there is big money behind this. That is one slickly produced video. I also like the universal lyrical theme of being "too high." It's very good.
Brenda and Kelly. Just realized you were replying to Brenda. Either way... Simon is just singing a few Genesis songs with Hackett on the 21st. But it will be fantastic.
I can definitely hear his father's voice in his vocals, yet he's a great lead singer in his own right. Love this song.
was only thinking the same
In many of Simons sons his father sings backings...
Other than it is really good, I did not hear much Phil......which is fine. Dramatic video, well done.
I really wish more people knew of Simon, he is extremely talented.
Ive been sharing Simons music around on a virtual world radio station. Everyone loves it.
We needed more than one album guys.
Happy Birthday Simon! 🎉
You guys are awesome ! Awesome sound
Massive genesis and Phil fan..always knew his son had a band but don't know why I never looked into them before now..impressed..defo bit a genesis and Phil in him..great voice aswell ..

And Marillion...?
My god Simon, you are so like your dad and so very much the same - yay...the Collins legend lives on. Bloody great track too.
Great drummer and singer you are, Simon Collins! Like father, like son!
I just wish that we were going to receive more music from this band!!!.......
Fantastic...thanks Jason ( The Prog Mind) for another awesome recommendation
They need to put more music out.
Arrangement is really good. This is not yet pop, but almost progressive. Easy listening, but with deep harmonical and lyrical impact on. 5+ for really good video and great music.
Some definite elements of Pink Floyd in there.

The outro is amazing. Can we get more outside the box piano licks like that?
Brilliant video. Excellent song. Best wishes.
Great video. Another one coming from them too soon I hear...Pale Blue Dot... The albums out on CD AND Vinyl now!
So........why aren't these guys getting Radio airplay? They are excellent and deserve to be heard!
Einfach nur geil!!!!! Weiter so!!!
Davvero una canzone che mi piace ascoltare e riascoltare...Bravi!
Love it - real gutsy "proper" music - well done Master Collins!
This is gorgeous, and so sad.

Addiction runs in families
