    Awesome video!
    Quick update: I finally got my hearing aids today!
    Thank you sooo much. I NEVER would have been able to get them if it wasn't for your help for pointing me in the right direction.
    You were right, they do have a bit of a learning curve and honestly I feel a bit conflicted about them.
    On one hand I was very excited to get them because they represent the very first hearing accommodation I've had since I was born HoH.
    On the other, they started to give me a headache after wearing them for a little over an hour. So I also understand why so many other deaf people hate them.
    It's definitely been eye opening. I honestly feel the learning curve is so high for me because it's the first time I'm being exposed to so many sounds at once.

      Thanks for being so helpful about sharing your experience & knowledge! It's an area of life that is difficult to really learn about except from people who have lived it. Your videos are fantastic, a great resource for me in real life (as somebody often communicating with people who have hearing loss, and also beginning to experience it myself), as well as what I'm trying to learn to make my fiction more realistic.

    That's a good video! Totally love the ending; made me laugh! Here's something about hearing aids I think hearing people should know about. Hearing aids simply don't work on profoundly deaf people like me. I was forced to wear one from K to 6th grade. That's when I started to understand and finally decided to make the school stop forcing it on me. They just think I would do better in school with one on but the reality is that it's all vibrations. My head felt like a Maraca all these years until I had enough. It's crazy, lol. One teacher cried and didn't want me to stop wearing it. Wow. My mom told her to let me go to classes without it. I had interpreters in my classes and proved my school I excelled just fine with only my interpreters. I mean, come on. Hearing aids are not for everyone. 😊

    I do sleep in my hearing aids, they're comfy for me and don't give feedback and the tinnitus makes it hard to sleep.

  • @catherineparker6360

    I will point out something in this video- completely waterproof hearing aids don't exist, however there are water resistant and waterproof up to a certain depth hearing aids from Siemens! Course, they aren't pretty and you can't adjust the sound level, but they are waterproof! But why would you want to go underwater with them? It sounds like someone is constantly rubbing plastic over them and isn't pleasant at all😱. Not arguing that you shouldn't take them into the shower, and they are incredibly expensive, but they do exist. Just wanted to fix that slight error.☺

    Well i need them. I'm only 29. I have my 5th hearing test in a few weeks. I'm terrified to wear them in public, but they say i need them so what the hey. : (

      Yosef C Hey! ever think about taking up sign language? There are other ways to get people to communicate with you without having to wear hearing aids. Writing things out always helps. Hearing aids to me have always been tool to use to help detect sounds. I have a server profound hearing loss so my hearing aids are more for ambient sounds rather than magically making me understand people. So now I use other ways to communicate. But see how they work out for you and if you're not feeling them, there are always other ways to communicate!

    hi! I know this is an old video but I am getting hearing aids like yours soon! Are they comfortable to wear? I'm also going to colour mine! Please get back to me when you can and I loved your video ^^ This is my first time with hearing aids!

    • @JessicaFloresLimeMoney
      @JessicaFloresLimeMoney  6 лет назад +1

      Hi!!
      It is different for everyone. Like my earmolds were rubbing against my ear for a while and I had to go in and let my audiologist know then she was able to fix them. Hearing aids definitely feel weird at first, because it is different than what you are used to. But with time you adapt to them.
      If your hearing aids give you ANY problems, like the sound is too loud or too quiet or the earmolds don't fit right, let the audiologist know! Because that's what they are supposed to help you with. They are supposed to help make your hearing aids comfortable for you. If they don't do this, send them my way lol.
      I hope you enjoy them! It might be hard at first, you'll hear all these new sounds you never heard before but with time it gets easier. Keep me updated on your progress!
      Jess

      thanks so much for your helpful advice! :) That sounds like it was pretty irritating and I'm glad they helped you out with your issue. ! My Dad has a pair too. Thanks again for the description as I was wondering how they were going to feel. :)
      I will be sure to let the audiologist know that if there is an issue i will be sure to go back.^^ lol I like your spunk! ^^ Thanks, I hope i enjoy them too! :) I will keep you updated. I have an appointment with the audiologist on the 15th! Thanks again for getting back to me. ^_^

    You may have already mentioned this but I was just wondering what you degree of hearing loss is? Mine is a mild to moderate. So not as severe as others. I can still hear somewhat okay without them as long as people speak directly at me and one at a time. Is yours the same way? Or can you only hear extremely loud sounds without yours in? Sorry for all the questions😬

    • @JessicaFloresLimeMoney
      @JessicaFloresLimeMoney  7 лет назад +1

      Abby Kimbriel I have a severe profound hearing loss. I was hard of hearing but overtime I lost more and more, now I am Deaf. My hearing aids help me pick more ambiance sounds rather than actually helping me hear what is being said. Hope that makes sense :)

    • @abbykimbriel9979
      @abbykimbriel9979 7 лет назад +1

      Yep because I still can't hear like a hearing person even with them on. If you check out my second video on hearing aid questions you can get a better idea of what it sounds like with hearing aids on for me.
