I am paying for my son’s education. He has been informed that if he is mature enough to protest for Palestine, he is mature enough to pay for his own education. Free speech does have a price.
I think a lot of these kids need some perspective like that.

Yeah but what degrees and classes are they taking? Anything that makes a real paycheck?? Most students would be better off learning a TRADE OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING THE NAVY IS CREATING A WELDING SCHOOL NOW BECAUSE THEY NEED 200,000 new welders the next five years to meet the demand!! Those are high skill high paying jobs!! That is just the start!!

Parents absolutely have the right to determine how their money is being spent. If it's spent sending your kids to protest, better to pull them out of college, and let them earn the time to protest, in between paying their own bills.

Excellent Monologue! So many kids are without Dads or with a passive self-centered Dad. We need Dads, Moms and Families!
So glad we didn’t have computers, smart phones, internet. I remember talking to my friend in the 70’s on our rotary phone. We learned how to touch type on a manual typewriter. And wait, best of all the main stream media was neutral, they just reported all the news.
No, the msm media in the 70s was just way better at making it sound like they were just reporting the news. They understood subtlety. For ex. 'Watergate.' If the media had reported that honestly Nixon wouldnt have resigned. He wouldnt have needed to. They were better liars.

In 2016 the opposition but got an "suspect" court order to do the same thing against Trump. That, also, was a big deal. But since the "touched base" with a corrupt judge, I guess it was OK.

I lost my biological father when I was 8. They were divorced long before then. Then my mother only told me bad things about him. Almost 30 years later, I finally was able to connect with my stepmother, who told me the truth. And I found out I had another sister.
And brave, I thought him be a D-day veteran made him brave, then it came time for me to let my son drive my car alone for the first time,..
Times have changed. If I had been one of those protesters, my parents would have yanked me out of school and found me a job so fast it would have made my head spin.
Guy was right at the end. At any time these colleges could have said “Listen if you go to school here we WILL suspend you and if you do not you will be arrested!”
That one female chancellor said essentially that and the cockroaches scurried off.
Columbia University is maybe Harvard a close 2nd the most expensive university in the world!
Well, kids will be kids. Many schools have a means by which kids can express without fear of retribution "unconventional" thoughts. My school had a "Senior Fence" which anyone would paint anything they wanted with worry about consequences. I fellow I knew painted it orange on St. Pat's day.
If these student protesters acted like this in 1968, the national guard would make the incident at Kent State look like a birthday party by comparison.

I haven’t been impressed with anyone from an Ivy League school since the 90’s.
In my case, it was the 80s with "leakage" tending to he 70s.

Parents acting like parents vs friends. I recall a family vacation with my sister and her kids. The kids were behaving badly until she told them their father was arriving soon. My sister is their friend and her kids call her by her first name instead of mom. They do not call their father by his first name, they call him Dad. And they straitened up when it came to dealing with him. I rest my case.
BINGO, and Dad needs to get mom on the same page as him.
Often parents make a tacit agreement on such things. The best thing that parents can do for their kids is to love and respect each other and that includes pretending the kids can manipulate one or he other parent.

Publicity fuels these protests - the more violent and destructive the greater publicity they receive. Turn off the tap - stop covering the protests, they will stop immediately.
Very true! Many may not remember the time when some folks wanted to get their moment of fame by running naked at sporting events? The networks decided they were not going to contribute and stopped showing it! The media can cancel them just by not showing, or not talking about it, they did it before.

Well, the federal funding was a mistake in the first place. But it shouldn't be used as a weapon. Schools used "research" to teach grad students and to make money.

I'm a real Dad. I don't want to be the 1970s Dad that I had , God rest his Soul , but he taught me exactly what NOT to do. As a Father later in life , it's difficult . You really have to keep up on things that you never thought that you'd have to. Social Media , TV , phones , video games etc..... But I wouldn't trade it for the whole World.

Protester tents are easy to tell from homeless tents. Protester tents all look like they were bought by the gross, and have factory fold still visible. Homeless tents have been through it.
Take all these students grants and scholarships away as well as trust funds and see how long they can live out on their own so they learn what their antics really do to their lives.
