Upgraded Unbleached Bone Saddle and full setup done up by Jarvis Wong of THE GUITAR SPA SINGAPORE
guitarsaddle@hotmail.comCompact body, full-size sound
The compact size of CSF makes it outstandingly comfortable to play and easy to transport; it’s the perfect guitar to take your music with you wherever you go. And thanks to an all-new design, the compact body packs a sound that’s rich, vibrant and full.
The secret to great resonance
The design of the CSF series utilizes newly-designed scalloped bracing that delivers rich, full-bodied resonance. The use of a forward shifted construction maintains the strength of the body while maximizing the vibration of the guitar’s top.
Two different configurations
Each CSF series guitar boasts a top made from a single sheet of Sitka spruce and mahogany sides and back. The CSF3M uses solid-wood back and sides for even better resonance.
Functional, durable hard bag
All CSF guitars come with a durable hard bag that you can sling over your shoulder for safe, easy transport.
Pickups for great live performance
CSF series guitars are equipped with the Zero Impact passive pickup, allowing you to plug in to an amplifier or PA system for natural, dynamic acoustic sound when playing live.
Just got a CSF1M barely used for less than $200. Super happy
Nice! Great deal. I just picked one up in perfect condition for $260.
enjoyed your video. Particularly enjoyed your playing. Great demonstration of the sound of these instruments.
My pleasure
I just played one today I was skeptical I was like well I know itd be good for blues I started playing on it I was like whoa!!! Did not expect the fullness and richness it had even while strumming and the volume for a guitar of that size was crazy almost as much as my full size fg. Highly recommend one to anyone I was looking for a full size guitar but wow I might have to go a different route.
I keep coming back to this cuz I'm considering one of these two ...they both sound so good!but I wish a shop near me had one to try.
The last song you played reminds me of John Mayer's St Patrick's Day...sounds awesome!
For 200 dollars more you can buy the solid wood 3. The difference for me is this: the laminate "plays" well, but the solid wood "sings" well. I shall save my money and buy the solid wood. I could never go wrong with it. Thank you for an EXCELLENT review.
Thank you for doing these videos for the CSF guitars. After watching many videos, I put my money on a CSF3M, and I couldn’t be happier. It won’t replace what bigger guitars do, but it is an excellent guitar in its own right. Thanks.
David Good Glad it helped you and congrats
I can’t hear the difference, it sounds too close despite one being solid and the other being laminated.
Most helpful! Played a CSF1M in a local guitar store and fell in love with it, got home and ordered the CSF3M instead - hoping the SOLID WOODS of the 3m would sound even better and you just demonstrated that it will - MINE arrives in 2 days! - THANKS AGAIN!
rightfromtheart yes it will and just get it setup and you will be fine
HI. and do you hve to say after 7 months? :)
'Had to come back to your demo to see if now I want the CSF3 and now I hear major differences in the two. Your style of playing is very cool indeed. Thanks so much!
thanks
CSF1M: 3:56 5:31 7:29
CSF3M: 4:45 6:31 9:05
juhan9117 thanks
The Guitar Spa Singapore did you ever end up putting 13’s on one of these?
Thank you for your wonderful comparison. Your advice at the end regarding the enrichment of the tone on the CSF3M over time helped me to make my decision. Paid a little more but over time I think it will be worth it. ❤
I'm a long-time beginner and on a whim bought myself the CSF3M for festivus after seriously considering the DJr and the GS Mini. So far I'm loving the Yamaha and find it to be the easiest-to-play guitar of any I have played (not that there have been that many). I should have gotten this thing a decade ago. I look forward to swapping out the urea with bone and trying some mediums on it.
No mediums but the other upgrades are good .. congrats
Another long-time beginner here. I’m considering csf1m, Gs mini, Martin Djr10 and Yamaha FS830. Now I have a The Loar LO216 (nice parlor with 25,5” scale). But I can’t try any of this guitars where I live? Did you tried Martin and Taylor before buying your Yamaha? Why it is better in your opinion?
@@sagutxo82 I can't say any of the three is better. I like that the CSF3m is all solid wood and costs less than the others. After I bought it, the local guitar shop had the Taylor in koa for $650, so I was kicking myself a little, but much and not for long.
Wow! They sound really good. The solid wood a very little better
great review! yahama makes great guitars! i personally prefer the solid csf3m.
Super comparison..keep up the great talented work...my best wishes.
sanjeev jalui my pleasure
Your choices of samples were the bst. Parlor guitars change a lot over the 5th fret and have sharpness issues. Wonderfully done. Thank You.
Had my CSF1M for 6 months now, I've tried numerous string gauges and settled on a light gauge as it suits my style of playing. This guitar is great, it plays so well and tone is amazing for such a small guitar. It's now my go to guitar, I pick it up every day and i love it. (Quality case too)
Yes it’s absolutely beautiful
Up the tics
🙂🙂 Up The Tics
Had a same guitar for years I dont believe what they say about tone being better because of wood, here the csf1m sounded better if you ask me. It had a stronger personnality.
Excellent review. I'll be receiving my CSF3M in a few days. Amazing tone for such a small guitar. I keep thinking the high notes just have to sound harsh, but they don't.
Great choice and congrats .. it’s a very light guitar and small enough to sit next to your partner which watching the TV
You get it yet?? That thing sounds so good!
@@cashmoney9256 “It’s A Great piece
Great informative video, as all your videos are. I just wish you would have showed the gig bag or the semi hard case you were talking about.
you can see the gig bag online
I have the CHF1M Wanted something with a good sound and easy on my 69 year old arthritic shoulder and hands. I haven't played much on accoustic since I sat on my '73 FG 75 yrs ago. After playing my old 90s Strat for so long it's pretty hard for me to play well on this one. Its sure puts out some good tones for such a small body and the board is kinda high. A capo helps alot. Kinda learning to play my old 60s Silvertone. My 1st. It's getting easier. It was worth the money.
Very helpful. Thanks, great review.
I've been looking for a review of these two guitars, but they were all against other brands. This was great and I agree that the 3 had a little bit better sound, however, in my case I'll probably get the laminated one as it will be my drag around guitar and I think it will hold up better to my climate (S. Louisiana) and my small Chevy Astro Van.
Brilliant
I’m from S Louisiana too! Only guitar I’ve had that absolutely refused to go out of tune. Had to retune my Martin 000-18 every time I picked it up
Love your videos. awesome review. you offer a lot of information
Glad you like them!
i have this gorgeous cfs3 guitar recommended by
Beautiful sounding guitars I’d go 3
Sounded like he changed both saddles and nuts on both guitars, before the review. The factory nut was too high. I think this means the one I buy, with factory settings, will never sound as good as his. I wish he'd do a video on the saddle and nut work he did. Or at least do a review of before lutherie work and after tone samples.
Just to let you know I’ve got the CSF3. I’ve not altered the saddle at all but the nut had been filed underneath before I bought it.
It is the most comfortable and fun guitar to play I’ve ever owned and I find it hard to put it down.
I’ve had to but fastfret to clean the strings as it gets played so often.
When I’ve plugged it into my Trace Elliot acoustic amp it sound amazing but the amp has a built in pre-amp.
When I took it to an open mic night the sound engineer complained about the lack of gain on pickup.
I have a pre-amp that I could take to open mics but I think I’ll replace the pickup for ease in performance situations.
Hope that helps! 🙏
Wow, you really have those fretboards bent
They sound nearly identical through my Sony headphones
awesome review as usual..Interested in why you have not reviewed the FS line..I wanted a guitar I could take out of the house and found a fs800 for 150.00 u.s. very happy with it.
I have FS 700 and FG 830. I was thinking of a FS 820 next but i like the CSF 3M
Thank you, this was the comparison I've been looking for. How well does this recording and sound quality of the RUclips video represent the in room experience of the sound?
The CSF3 sounds better than the CSF1 but I don't know if it sounds $160 better.
$160 extra for solid back and sides and beautiful wood binding. Id say thats one hell of a bargain!
i just watched your review which was done 5 yrs ago, sound like great guitars for the price. I understand that they can still be bought new today. Have they improved further or still same?
they are about the same but the japanese yamaha is always improving which is good
Thanks! Very helpful review Jarvis and good playing too.
John Teichman thanks john
Great comparison video but Parlor guitars are made much more for picking.
Great demo and review!
Anything you play sounds great!
But I liked the all wood sound.
Cool, thanks! and i hope so...
Like both these guitars. Very pretty & good sound. The gig bag they come with similar to the one you get with the Taylor GS mini ?
It would have been good to hear the plugged in sound
I ended up buying the cfs 1 new to guitar, like your style what are the chords you are playing in this demo?
The CS3M sounds the best of the two. Both are nice sounding. I think you just sold me the 3.
Nice review brother
love you my brother
Tough decision, but for the $ difference I chose CFS3M. Now if I can just find a store that has it in stock to try them both to be sure!
prefer the CSF3...good review..
Yes i know thanks
Great review...Thankyou!
My pleasure!
Both sound good but the 3 is so much better.
hey had a question for you about the piezo pickup underneath the bridge saddle. when you changed out the saddle how did you take the piezo off from the saddle and connect to the new one? mine is attached to the saddle
what gear you use to record i saw in your other video you use a zoom q8 and at2050 ?
you use any pickup or loudspeaker in background to pick up amplify sound?

The CSF3M has noticeably richer bass. Thanks for presenting the video.
600mm is what the standard should be at minima, why the guitar has to be so much harder to play than a piano ? Its all about music.
The Csf1 wound strings are more audible and have more treble
Hello.
How does yamahy csf 1m and taylor gs mini compare?
Adam Adam best you listen to it it’s hard to explain it in writing
Just waiting for my CSF1M to be delivered today from amazon, got it for a really good price , just £235, retail at £399. Cant wait to get my hands on it. Let you know what I think in a few days.
David Hobson it will Be a fun guitar to play at home .. extremely light and sweet
Those are pretty cool instruments.
Can i ask you just one thing that i don’t understand due to my bad English . :)
You replace only the saddle with a bone one! Or both nut and saddle!?
Cause I replace only the plastic nut with a bone one, and I’m waiting for the saddle.
Also ordered ebony bridge pins :) .
I’m asking just because I’m noticed a more deeper sound with less sparkle with a bone but but the plastic one imho was more clear and snappy
Sounded like he changed both saddles and nuts on both guitars --before the review. The factory nut was too high. I think this means the one I buy --with factory settings-- will never sound as good as his. I wish he'd do a video on the saddle and nut work he did. Or at least do a review of before lutherie work and after tone samples.

Grab a Csf3m and be happy
I want one. Where in the USA can I buy one?
Reverb.com for maybe a good used or guitar center etc. For new
3m much fuller sound-p
Hi i have a LJ6 and planning to upgrade to bone saddle and pin. Can please recommand any good shop in singapore. I check at one of the shop in pennisula plaza basement and it costs around 100 for services. Thanks All
well not all bone saddles are the saddle and also they have to profile it correctly if not your yamaha will just sound pretty much the same as the plastic saddle. Pay a bit more and get someone really good who can bring out the best from you LJ6. I just did up a LL6 last night with FMI saddle and owner was shockingly surprise at how good it sounded but played like butter
Would you tell me, what the song?
Satria Samudra look out for
My guitar tutorials it’s all on my channel
Hi Jarvis, may I know how would you rate CSF3M against Martin D. Jr. e and D. Jr. 2e?
Hope you don't mind my contributing. If you have to choose only 1, then either the D Jr.e or D Jr2e is slightly better. But if budget is not a constraint, then get both. I have the D Jr2 and just got the CSF3M 2 days ago. Martin has better resale value and also sounds a bit more solid. Cheers. :)
Cool55 Cool55 If the size of the guitar is one of the main factor, would you recommend csf3m instead? Anyway, in terms of loudness, are they comparable?
Nathaniel Sie Kiat Wong Both guitars are equally & relatively loud for a 3/4 sized guitar. I would say that the DJr has more bass than the CSF3M. Actual physical size of the Yamaha is slightly smaller but “shapelier” than the DJr.
Cool55 Cool55 Thank you for the clarification. Is it more likely that yamaha is more comfortable for small girl?
Nathaniel Sie Kiat Wong For a young girl, I am assuming for your daughter, then Little Martin LX1E may be a better choice than CSF3M or DJ, due to its smaller size. Jarvis has a review on Little Martin too. Check it out. Btw, City Music is having a 20% sale for little martin, DJr & many others. Yamaha, Plaza Singapura is having a 15% sale for the CSF3M. Hope the above info helps. Cheers! :)
You have concert size parlour guitars to compare, and all you do is strum them.
Concert size parlour guitars are going to respond the best when played fingerstyle.
How are we meant to know how the sound if you just smash the shit out of them.
brendon leary bro watch the my latest video of taylor against MartinJr comparison
Please stop using a wide-angle camera lens which distorts the guitars! Maybe get a bigger room or sit further from the camera?
Not made to "hit" to hard!!...
Ma come cazz parli hahahaha
How do these compare with the Taylor Gs minis ??
craig clarke GS mini has a bigger tone due to a bigger side air cavity and size ..
These are so easy to play at home with crisp trebles
