- A Lada Niva out on the Killy Loop track just north of Sydney, Australia. Testing out the front and rear Blokka diff locks. Very happy with the auto lockers, now just need to work on the suspension a bit more and sorting the carby jetting and float height , it was not liking some of the steeper angles. All in all a great day out.
The music backing track track is "Night Owl" by the artist "Broke for Free".
I have a '04 built Lada Niva 1.7 with fuel injection. Never let me down and even in the cold where most 4x4 vehicles get bogged as of their weight, the Niva just says gimme more. This paint job and the video is really good. Good job.
same thing i love about my niva its just so light. its a 1.7 TBI and have barley any issues with it does great here in canada
My first car here in Australia was a niva. When the engine stalled in this and you had to crank it a bit to restart the sound bought back memories haha. Loved the niva, but very high maintenance vehicles. As they say about the niva, "Always half broken, never breaks down"
I had one as my first car years ago and I felt the same when I heard the starter and the gentle rumble and whine of the transfer case. There is no car quite like them. I learnt with my first one to keep on top of it in terms of maintenance.
This Niva is crazy, awesome paintjob, really cool. Nice Video.
Kaynert thanks mate.
bagus
It's renewed Soviet Niva, there are old version of back lighters
what beautiful looking car!!
rear axle travel way is awesome.
spotter is a bit wrong.
need turn first right and then little left but Lada is so capable it doesn't matter😳😁

Built like a tank and goes everywhere. Puts to shame many other overpriced offroaders
Its great to be able to keep up with the much bigger offroaders, more than a couple of people have been very surprised at what a niva can do offroad.
True. But it cannot be used to drive 80mph on highway smoothly.
Monhtor what’s mph, remind me? We’re talking about Lada here
@@PocketManga we don't have any 80mph highways anyway. They can go 110km/h just fine as long as there isn't a hill or a headwind 😄
@@ImmortanJoeCamel my guy runs 130 on the autobahn, no overheating, a bit louder than normal but alright. very fun to drive, and thats coming from someone who owned 2 miatas and 2 e36´s.
An Aussie who owns a Niva!?!?!? .....SUBSCRIBED!!!!
....I love that hexagon camo pattern by the way 👍
We love our nivas down here in Australia. I am Glad you liked the camo pattern
I think that it used to be called "Lozenge" pattern.
Back in the late 80s and early 90s I ran two new Nivas.Whilst the second spent its life as a family workhorse the first did all sorts of challenges.
It regularly launched and towed a small sailing cruiser and often found itself ploughing through snow in the Cairngorms.
Whilst living in Lancaster it explored rarely visited corners of the English lake district-obscure tracks to abandoned slate quarries being a speciality. In Scotland a still accesible Corrieayrack pass and the old Black mount road across Ranoch Moor come to mind.I also have a memory of sitting atop a peat hag on a wet darkening late afternoon
I had just pushed Saltergate as far as possible(Lancaster to Ribble Valley) and had to reverse back in the dank and dreary weather.
Sad to hear of their demise.
Those Niva Ladas are one tough mother!
I like the nivas Gary, they are extra fun to run through a challenging track
And this will cost you what?! 4000 bucks??!! Damn Russians

Best off roader... especially if Our consider the price tag. Can't beat the Lada.
Great offroad car. The capability even in standard trim is excellent. its a shame there aren't so many of them here anymore
My first car was a beige Niva. Loved it.
Ill buy another one some day but finding a good rust free example in australia is hard unless you pay through the nose
Daddy Awesome they are a bit harder to find these days, they felt like they were everywhere once
I got one out of Canberra for $3k
Wellcome in Russia
Awesome buddy - really one of the best Nivas that I´ve seen on RUclips !!! Great suspension and I love the painting! And of course the DIFF LOCKERS !
Thanks Mate. I really tried to put some work in on the suspension to get it to flex out. By the way I just posted up the next video.
What springs did you use man this things awsome
@@ozniva9724 what lockers do you use??
Serious off road kit, used one for 5 years in UAE/Oman.
They are a great vehicle offroad
Great awesome Niva! 👍🚜

Beautiful driving indeed
This video proves Lada does not need rock slider. Ladas body is rock solid.
they are indeed pretty strong cars
👍 Dieser Fahrer weiß was er macht. Er schont auch das Material. Top!
The best 4x4 ever made reliable strong motor will not let you down
I like their simplicity, they get the job done without too much fuss.

What differential lock are you using exactly? Because I am trying to find lockebel differentials for my Lada but the only ones who I can find that says they are for lada is LSD differentials
Ok we want more videos to watch your Niva adventures ha ha!
thanks, i just posted up the next video
Now... everybody wants a Niva. Great!!
The more nivas, the happier place it will be
I think this is super cool. Thanks
Your niva’s camo reminds me OPFOR vehicles from arma 3.
Thanks Ozz, I havent played Arma 3. I based it off the AUSCAM vehicle pattern.

What kind of lift does it have? Awesome articulation on the rear axis!
Hermoso, es como un Bj70 serie 2 en miniatura.
Wow! I always wanted a Niva! What did you do to the rear suspension? Love to do that! Living in South Africa!!!
Desde España muy bien video!!!

No electronic BS. The apocalypse vehicle!
its great to not have any computer interference!

What a little sweet heart. :)
Impressive!
it was a fun drive
Great video. I'm green. How does the niva drive on the tarmac in every day driving mode with automatic locker? The lockers are blokka I presume.
They are Blokkas, they are ok on the tarmac as long as you have a part time 4x4 disconnect. Not perfect but not to bad.
IT ONLY MISSES A DIESEL ENGINE TO BE A PERFECT NIVA.
nice man!!, what brand/type locker are you using, and the rest of the drivetrain is that standard?
Looks good-ski!
cheers J Z
Where dod you get lockers and price? Im interested in buying them for my Niva.
And what tire sizes do you run?
LuX the lockers are from IZH techno, tyre size is 225/75r16.
good job!cool!
Thanks for the kind words.
That's awesome! Great driving and great tuning! I'd like to know, if you have the whole list of your modifications? I'd love to hear from you, which modifications are worth to do them.
there is a build list on www.ozniva4x4.com
@@ozniva9724 Great! Thank you!
Really nice! Do you have use the steel housing or the original aluminium diff housing in front?
Thanks acer 80, in the front it has a steel housing, 24 spline hubs and CV's, cro-moly drive shafts.
is your niva still driveable onroad as well with these blokka diff's ? or do you have to be extra carefull in turning?
Hi mark, I have the 2x4 disconnect fitted to the transfer case. In 2wd mode the niva is perfectly driveable with the front and rear blokka onroad, the front blokka becomes invisible and only requires a slight change to driving style but otherwise pretty well behaved. I would NOT recommend driving onroad with a front blokka fitted with 4x4 engaged even with the centre diff lock unlocked. I have done this in testing and the front blokka has very poor driving characteristics with 4x4 engaged, even with CDL unlocked, any change in driving direction or uneven pavement causes very strong torque steer and to me feels constantly very uncomfortable to drive.
Drove this daily for 6 years. Great little car, but it keeps breaking down.
they definitely can present a challenge at times, but if you keep at them and perform the right mods and maintenance they can be pretty reliable. Great cars.
I'm so glad you mentioned that...I had one for 5 years back in the early 90's...it broke down every 2 weeks and was too afraid to take it out of the metro area! But when it worked, it was great! Pity it was so unreliable at that time - mine was a faulty ignition module fault - and it was well known in owners circles that the gearbox would start to fail after 50 000km....electrics were dodgy and it was soooo slow...but it could go places many of my friends in their larger 4wd just couldn't...I had Pirelli Scorpions as a great compromise road/ light trail tyre and the car was stock standard....great design but so badly built :(
that paintjob reminds me of arma 3 painjob on tanks, like some kind of "digital futuristic" paintojob, but i like it.
can you explain me why do you need those pieces of metal on the right and on the left of the tire on the back of the car ? do you use it for transporting canister of fuel ?
and another question, it's not better to put the antenna on the "roof" of the car ? let's say you need to go across a river those the antenna not get damaged by the water ?
MIRAAK apocrypha you are correct, the brackets on the spare wheel carrier are for fuel cannisters. The radio antennae is better on the roof from a reception point of view but where I wheel the trees and foliage can close in and easily rip at the antennae if it was on the roof, so it is common for people to mount the antenna on the bull bar at the front. They usually are well sealed and don't seem to suffer even with river crossings etc.
Oz Niva thank you.
A bit of anti-rust , keep an eye on the temperature and it will serve you whole your life. It was not made for such trails though😉
You are right about them not being made for those trails. I am putting a solid front axle in which will help alot in these conditions.
Great video, did you do anything to the suspension? it is crazy wide but still it does not break. If you have changes something please tell me as I am bulding my Niva Off Road project. Thank you
Hi Eddie, it has been modified alot. i am about to put up a website with all the suspension and drivetrain mods.
www.ozniva4x4.com has a build sheet on there
Where is Niva? I can't see it...
It must be very still
Saludos desde Bucaramanga Colombia
Un saludo desde Australia. Gracias por ver
Wow great
Thanks mate
Hi, is your niva running reduction gears? Looks to be driving slower than normal in low range cheers
it has 3.125 reduction transfer gears
And this is 1.6 model (first model of Niva)...he put at least 5000 bucks to bring it on this level.
I dont want to put a figure of money on it. many weekends of work.
Niva 🔥
Everything looks mad, but the paint is really something. Like Auscam vehicle pattern but with like a coyote color in place of the olive drab.
Sorta like Auscam desert might look, if we made an arid version of the pattern.
What's the deal with the rubber coming out past the guards? Is that not a problem where it's registered or do you have detachable guards for on road use?
Hi Noises, the camo was inspired by the auscam vehicle pattern but with the tan base. The video was of the first run out after modifying it the first time round, we hadnt fitted the flares by that stage, you will see in later videos that arch flares were fitted.
Hi... Sooo Nice ✌🏼 what size are your rims and tires? And how much did you lift it?
225 75r16 and it has 75mm lift
Very good look with paint and locks, there is thorsen locks or better?
It has full locking diff locks front and rear from IZH Techno Blokka
Beautiful project. I think about Niva like this. What is wheel size?
the wheels are 225/75r16
Hello, I think the painting is really beautiful, how did you do it and what is the name of this camouflage? PS: I'm from France.
Hi Tom, we tend to call it AUSCAM, it is based on Australian Army hexagon camouflage they use on trucks and vehicles. I used lots of hexagon shaped stencils, carefully applied for each seperate colour layer. Hello from Australia.
Has the vehicle engine been modified???
Torsen or completely locked diff?

How many is lifted your Niva? Great video
3" or 76mm
Which tyres are those?
What size tyres are you running on the Lada?
hi alex, it was running 225 75 r16 in the video. Now it has 33", see the build video for the newer tyres.
Is this the petrol or diesel version? Sounds like a diesel?
Es increíble:) un like÷]
