Thanks for tuning this in this morning everyone! FYI, the Regal is based on the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia that's sold in Europe so a lot of what I talk about in this video will likely apply to those cars as well. Have a great day!
The Regal starts at $25k. The average car buyer is about 52 years old. The average Buick buyer is about 57, which is down about 10 years from about 10 years ago. Even getting more 30-40 year olds would still be appealing to a younger gen buyer.
Canadian owner in his 20's here. I really liked it after having it for about a month, and it sure has catched some eyes in my company parking lot and on the streets. Its exclusivity means few would really know what it is, and its good-looking exterior makes them wonder. As for the performance, it is sufficient for what it is. This is never a Golf R / Audi S5 / Stinger GT, but it is a very capable big-displacement NA family sedan/hatch. It is spacious, reasonably comfortable, quiet, and will give you some punch when you go over half throttle.
Yes, I mentioned it in the video and just pinned a comment highlighting it. I didn't dig into all the differences between the cars, but I'm sure a lot of what I talked about here applies to those cars as well.
Man, it’s sad to see what was once a hugely popular channel like you that, once upon a time, garnered about 200-500k views on a video fall victim to RUclips’s bullshit. That being said, I have always loved this channel and will never stop watching it.
No, it's not, Collin. Not with all that extra weight. The 0-60 is almost the same because the V6 only makes that extra power at the top end, the Turbo carries that power, and that torque, throughout.
But the advantage in the US is we can use 87 octane gas while the Turbo needs 91 or 93. The AWD versions of the Turbo 4 seems to be the slowest due to its older 8 speed auto. I'd like to see what Year 2 brings to the turbo models.
Great video Kyle, people obsession with "it's an Opel" like you didn't already say that and like they didn't already know, it's like that on most Buick reviews... Can't please everybody oh well.. Keep up the good work bro!
yeah, I know. but the actual car was engineered in Germany as an Opel Insignia and than badged a Buick/Holden. I was wondering if GM will give Buick the money and men power to design a new car on the platform or if they will put the Buick badge on the Malibu and the Holden badge on the Impala.
gorgeous car. GM has really picked it up with this design. However, in the UK you aren't given the opportunity to have a V6 but I'd imagine the 210bhp 2.0 diesel is excellent
This is a good looking car. I wonder if GM has enough guts to put the Twin Turbo 3.6 from the ATS-V in a Regal, and bring back the Grand National. :) EDIT: I do believe the ATS is a longitudinal based system compared to the Buick with a transverse system.
You're correct, the ATS is longitudinal, but if there was a buick based on the ATS platform, that sounds like an amazing combination. We need something like that!
I really like the new look of the Buick Regal. Looks more sporty than it ever did. I would drive it myself. You did an awesome video on this Kyle. Keep up the awesome work. Btw had a curious question, what would you say is your favorite car of all time? Hope your having a good day Kyle. Take care.
yo kyle.. would you consider the 19 inch wheel on this car unsuitable for a daily commuter in the northeast? i drive at night and drive on terrible roads.
I hope you get to do a Tesla Model 3 soon, preferably a performance version when it’s available! Great video as always Kyle, long time fan an subscriber!
I’ve had the car for 3 weeks and I am very satisfied so far. I wish the GS mode would have a stiffer suspension, better stock tires (such as Michelin Pilot Sports in European version of this car), Brembo rear calipers and higher quality materials in the lower parts of the interior. Power is very adequate and chassis is stiff. Pretty good handling. Of course I would be willing to pay a premium to get a 3.0 TT and stiffer dampers and better stock tires. That would be a heck of a car.
Thank you for sharing Kyle. It was informative and interesting. I learned things I did not know about the features. You do show and share and it is always informative. This car is sold as the Holden Commodore as well.
I just bought a TourX Essence a few weeks ago. I love it, but I’m starting to have buyers remorse as I’m wishing I’d have bought this instead. I’d have paid about the same price as I did for the TourX and the hatch would’ve been enough for my cargo needs.
Excellent road test and review Kyle. I have a 2017 GS and really enjoy it except for the black paint and living in the desert southwest during the summer. I will probably buy a 2019 as well. GM has excellent pricing on these right now, due to SUVs being more popular in demand. The Regal GS is a more compelling value to me than an Audi A4 I have been cross shopping or dare I say VW Passat GLI and is more performance oriented and better equipped. However, the Audi is slower and smaller, but will give superior fuel economy which if your using it as a daily commuter office car would be important. The red one you tested seems like GM/Opel were using VWoA playbook of the Golf GTI, i.e., offer is limited colors, black interior with red stitching, mated to a hot motor and its even a hatchback like the Golf. Very interesting.
I know you're a fan of classic cars as well and aware of the long history of these cars but have you ever been in a mid 80's style Regal? Those used to be my favorite cars back then and if you're traveling one day and stumble up on one I bet you would want to do a video on it. I bet this new school Regal would be a blast to drive on a long trip
Who you telling! My favorite Grand National back in the day was the 1987 and those cars were untouchable! I was only 17 when those came out and they were always one of my dream cars!
We would have to go to a car show just to be able to find one in show room condition. The exterior color I remember seeing the most in the late 80's was the charcoal gray. That color sparkled!
Hey Kyle, Would love too see maybe some top 10 or top 5 videos on different types of car classes so I, And many others can become more informed and aware buyers!! But Awesome Review, As they always are. Keep it up!
I know i miss the diversity and the variety. I miss the quirky little European cars full of character of the 60s and 70s and even more I miss the massive land yachts and the big V8 dinosaurs that classic American cars were.
I get manufacturer demos most of the time just like any major publication. I typically have them for a week to learn and experience them on a daily basis. Sometimes I do videos with dealership vehicles too but not as often.

That's a good looking car, although one may think it's a Tesla Model S from behind! Anyway, I think this generation of Buicks will be the last to share Opel technology, because, since 2016, Opel is owned by the PSA Groupe (Peugeot-Citroen)! There are already some models out, based on PSA's EMP platform: the Crossland X (or Citroen C3 Aircross) and the bigger Grandland X (also known as the Peugeot 3008 or the 7-seater 5008 and the forthcoming Citroen C5 Aircross)! I noticed that it has the 3.6 V6! It's a big car, so it definitely needs this engine! I'm a bit jealous we don't get this engine here in Europe! It sounds good and it's proven tech in other GM cars! But I'm confused: I've never seen a longitudinal engine so sideways (if that's the word) mounted! The intake box takes half of the space! Is it a transverse engine and they're hiding it, maybe? edit: these AGR seats (for Aktion Gesunder Rücken, or Action for Healthy Backs! It's a German organization, founded by doctors!) are great! The previous Opel Insignia also had them and they offer great back support, while being very comfortable!
I noticed it!! Thanks!! Since the engine is offset to one side, I was just looking for the correct word!! I feel that the word ''sideways'' is both right, because transverse engines are also called like this, and wrong, because of the ''longitudinal'' engine cover!! Lol!! I should've just said ''offset to the right''!! :-P
You mention a spare tire. I don't think it actually has a spare tire. Just a fix-a-flat kit. That circular thing in the well where a spare would normally be placed, is the subwoofer.
Exterior looks fine, not the best but it's quite sleek, interior looks nice i really like the instrument cluster the center stack looks okay i guess 🤷🏻♂
Well the new Opel Insignia is better than the old one, but its still not a great seller in germany. especially since Opel now belongs to Peugeot. Not sure if its worth shipping this thing over the ocean....
Nah! GM doesn't need another FWD-based V8 sloppy sedan and coupe like the mid-2000s Impalas and Monte Carlos. But what they should do is drop either the Cadillac 3.0TT V6 or the 3.6TT V6 and turn this Regal into a modern day Grand National GNX!
There is nothing wrong with the 3.6LTTV6 from Cadillac. Just look at the ATS-V, plus it was a great competitor to the Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrifogglio while it lasted. However, Cadillac came out with a TTV8 producing 550 hp on their CT6 VSport with AWD which is nice, just have to wait and see in real life.
Buick forgot to put a recessed tray on top of the dash to hold things like sunglasses..etc. You would think with over 100 years of experience they would have figured this out by now.
Should’ve been an Oldsmobile or a Pontiac. Just because the Chinese love Buick’s is why they still offer them here, otherwise GM would never got rid of Pontiac or would call this an Opel here.
Thanks for tuning this in this morning everyone! FYI, the Regal is based on the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia that's sold in Europe so a lot of what I talk about in this video will likely apply to those cars as well. Have a great day!
Buicks nowadays are basically rebadged Opels/Vauxhalls.
Even better, the Chevrolet Blazer!
Love the vid kyle keep it up
It's also the new Commodore in Australia.
Saabkyle04 and you too have a nice day
I love how Buick is changing things up to appeal to a younger gen buyer. This car is really good looking! Excellent vid, as always!
they might be but the prices are still for old people
The Regal starts at $25k.
The average car buyer is about 52 years old. The average Buick buyer is about 57, which is down about 10 years from about 10 years ago. Even getting more 30-40 year olds would still be appealing to a younger gen buyer.
It's literally just a opel they aren't changing anything up lol
so lots of car builders do the same thing...
They aren't changing anything up. All they're doing is rebadging opels instead of crappy Chevy's like they used to up until 10 years ago
Canadian owner in his 20's here. I really liked it after having it for about a month, and it sure has catched some eyes in my company parking lot and on the streets. Everything Bagel + Orange Juice + Saabkyle04 = Perfect morning
That's what in talking about... but...no coffee?
Opel Insignia ?
Yes, I mentioned it in the video and just pinned a comment highlighting it. I didn't dig into all the differences between the cars, but I'm sure a lot of what I talked about here applies to those cars as well.
Unfortunatelly, yes.
Opel was owned by GM, so this is nothing new. Some early models were same as well like Cadillac Catera, Saturn Astra etc
or vauxhall
"Holden Commodore" down under.... it doesn't deserve that name
Man, it’s sad to see what was once a hugely popular channel like you that, once upon a time, garnered about 200-500k views on a video fall victim to RUclips’s bullshit. That being said, I have always loved this channel and will never stop watching it.
Interesting fact: The seats have the "AGR" badge. AGR comes from Germany and stands for "Aktion Gesunder Rücken" = "Association Healthy Back".
Buick is killing it! Love seeing these euro cars in the US. Very high quality looking.
22 Years later : Still want to buy a roadmaster
OurCity I want one too. I wouldn't mind one of these new Regal GS' either, though.
Same. Those were the glorious days of Buick.
or a Riviera!
I think now I might have to buy this Buick! Great vid as always.
Even though I'm 14, I still like watching your videos and sometimes rewatching. Keep it up Kyle 👍
You can love cars at any age dude
That's a bummer. We in Europe only get a 2.0 4 cylinder, with the Insignia GSi... 🤨. We also want a V6!
The V6 is hardly any faster than the 4 cylinder. The V6 does sound nicer though.
I think 60 hp is a noticeable difference.
I have been watching saabkyle for a long time keep up the good work 👍
Spectacular review as always!
That Buick is one nice car!
Good job! Keep it up.
Very good video. I can't wait for mine to arrive. Thanks for the heads up on all the features
Buick needs to make more V6 cars like this
I honestly love Buick's new line of vehicles.
Great video Kyle, people obsession with "it's an Opel" like you didn't already say that and like they didn't already know, it's like that on most Buick reviews... Can't please everybody oh well.. Keep up the good work bro!
GM put a real aggressive interior for a sedan, Loved It!
Now that Opel is owned by PSA, will GM develop new Buick/Holden models themselves or will they rebrand Chevys?
Felix that's a good question
Answer is obvious, rebrand Chevy's. GM is the king of badge engineering
Felix
This car already rides on the same platform as the current gen Malibu's, so they already got that covered.
PSA might come stateside with car sharing/autonomous.
yeah, I know. but the actual car was engineered in Germany as an Opel Insignia and than badged a Buick/Holden. I was wondering if GM will give Buick the money and men power to design a new car on the platform or if they will put the Buick badge on the Malibu and the Holden badge on the Impala.

This is a good looking car. I wonder if GM has enough guts to put the Twin Turbo 3.6 from the ATS-V in a Regal, and bring back the Grand National. :)
EDIT: I do believe the ATS is a longitudinal based system compared to the Buick with a transverse system.
You're correct, the ATS is longitudinal, but if there was a buick based on the ATS platform, that sounds like an amazing combination. We need something like that!
The same twin turbo V6 engine is already in the FWD Cadillac XTS V sport.
I really like the new look of the Buick Regal. Looks more sporty than it ever did. I would drive it myself. You did an awesome video on this Kyle. Keep up the awesome work. Btw had a curious question, what would you say is your favorite car of all time? Hope your having a good day Kyle. Take care.
I absolutely love all of your videos!! So lucky you have such an awesome job!!
yo kyle.. would you consider the 19 inch wheel on this car unsuitable for a daily commuter in the northeast? i drive at night and drive on terrible roads.
Hi...Auto Start/Stop: Does it also shut down the ac and turn it back on as it cuts out the motor at a stop? Great review, by the way. Peace!
I hope you get to do a Tesla Model 3 soon, preferably a performance version when it’s available! Great video as always Kyle, long time fan an subscriber!
So it’s basically an American version of the Holden Commodore?
I’ve had the car for 3 weeks and I am very satisfied so far. Good to know! Thanks man!
This regal has the same platform as the Chevrolet Malibu and cadillac XT5?
Same platform as the Malibu. XT5 is on a different platform.
Hy kyli when you will make video of the new audi Q8
glad you did this video, you cover everything I like to see in your reviews and I really love hatchback vehicles anyway ;)
I'm going to buy this once I pay off my current SUV. Got to have one car for the family, and another for myself😉 can't wait
Can you do a review on a 2022 Buick encore
Hey Kyle👋 can you please do a video on the 2019 Buick Enclave as a request from viewers.
Thanks👍
I’m soooo glad we get a 3.5 V6!!!
Super underated Buick
Opel, Vauxhall insignia and holden commodore :)
Can you please do a review on the New VW Arteon VW CC replacement beautiful
Hola sigo todos tus vídeos, eres un profesional en tu trabajo, Oye ? Cuando llegara a México Buick Regal 2018, acá no lo venden, saludos
Can you do like your old videos
I just bought a TourX Essence a few weeks ago. I love it, but I’m starting to have buyers remorse as I’m wishing I’d have bought this instead. I’d have paid about the same price as I did for the TourX and the hatch would’ve been enough for my cargo needs.
Finally another postttt
COOL 2018 Buick Regal GS: Start Up, Test Drive & In Depth Review
Excellent road test and review Kyle. I have a 2017 GS and really enjoy it except for the black paint and living in the desert southwest during the summer. I will probably buy a 2019 as well. I wonder if they'll do a GSX 🤔 I'd like that.
It's been a while but I did a video on a Regal T-Type Turbo back in the day, it was pretty close to a Grand National. Sweet cars!
Who you telling! My favorite Grand National back in the day was the 1987 and those cars were untouchable! I was only 17 when those came out and they were always one of my dream cars!
They're climbing up in value too! They'll be part of the next big way of collector cars for sure!
We would have to go to a car show just to be able to find one in show room condition. The exterior color I remember seeing the most in the late 80's was the charcoal gray. That color sparkled!
kyle good review have you heard toyota cars are looking good this year I'm loving it
#Saabkyle04ForLife
Beautiful buick and awsome review saabklye04
Envision is compact not midsize. A midsized CUV was planned to be built along side the Insignia but was scrapped (maybe delayed) with the sale to PSA.
Hey Kyle, Would love too see maybe some top 10 or top 5 videos on different types of car classes so I, And many others can become more informed and aware buyers!! But Awesome Review, As they always are. Keep it up!
Ah, Opel Insignia... Where are those times when American cars were different from European?
More and more vehicles are becoming "world" products, meaning they're sold across markets around the globe.
Well its all GM despite opel vauxhall was sold to PSA, they still share the same design..
Nicholas the world is becoming smaller every day 😊
They were different before buyers went away from them. They're just adjusting to the market.
I know i miss the diversity and the variety. I miss the quirky little European cars full of character of the 60s and 70s and even more I miss the massive land yachts and the big V8 dinosaurs that classic American cars were.
Back in the early 2000s Buicks were everywhere, lesabres, regals, centuries, park avenues etc and now I never see a new Buick anywhere
Oldies died off
Great video Kyle!
Could you review the all new F-150? I love that truck.
Also I love you channel 👍
How do you get these wonderful cars
I get manufacturer demos most of the time just like any major publication. I typically have them for a week to learn and experience them on a daily basis. Sometimes I do videos with dealership vehicles too but not as often.
So When U Review A Car Do U Buy It Or Rent It For The Video ?
I get manufacturer demos most of the time just like any major publication. I typically have them for a week to learn and experience them on a daily basis. Sometimes I do videos with dealership vehicles too but not as often.
Oh Okay
I want to buy it and I’m 16! Lol they definitely got my buy! The engine sounds very peppy!
That's a good looking car, although one may think it's a Tesla Model S from behind!

MafiosoItaliano458 It’s mounted transversely (is that a word? Lol). You can tell by the way it moves when he revs it
I noticed it!! Thanks!!

Best reviews ever
Thank you!
I like this car a lot!
You mention a spare tire. I don't think it actually has a spare tire. Just a fix-a-flat kit. That circular thing in the well where a spare would normally be placed, is the subwoofer.
Review some 80s f-bodies Trans am and camaro pls
Hey, if nothing else it's quite a handsome car the GS. I'll give it that.
we are waiting your new videos they are super cool
Exterior looks fine, not the best but it's quite sleek, interior looks nice i really like the instrument cluster the center stack looks okay i guess 🤷🏻♂
This vs Kia stinger
James Russo Kia would mop the floor with this
But in 3 years this will be under $20,000 used and the Kia won't be.
Tuesday you have any questions 2,57. Guys had a good time 3. !569615?
The 2018 Buick Enclave has paddle shifters! So random to not incorporate these into the sportier models, and putting them in the family crossovers...
Can you start doing videos like your old ones? Where you just reviewed random everyday cars that aren’t brand new?
Make a video about a Mercedes Benz f 015
Is this not an Opel?
2:15
2:15
Cargo space is impressive
This is rebadged as Australia's imported ''Commodore'', shameful :(
RIP SSV
Its pretty common that worldwide companies sell one product on multiple markets..
Uncle Trevor - I think he's saying its shameful they replaced a RWD platform with available v8 and manual transmission with a FWD platform.
SierraLima, at least the AWD version might stop teenagers from wrapping themselves around trees...
Please stop it with the teenager stereotype.
I like the last bodystyle better. Still a nice car though
It’s nice, but $19,000 nicer than a Regal Sportback?
Can you please do a Honda Civic touring video !!!!!!
ITS A VAUXHALL INSIGNIA IN THE UK
thank you for your nice channel
the 2000 Buick regal gse is still a good car
This car can really use GM’s 3.0TT V6 found on Cadillacs.
I now want one
Well the new Opel Insignia is better than the old one, but its still not a great seller in germany. especially since Opel now belongs to Peugeot. Not sure if its worth shipping this thing over the ocean....
Awesome
I noticed it uses a longitudinal engine layout.
and it’s too good-looking to be a buick
It is a Holden commoder
Remember when people used to say big as a Buick? You don't really hear that anymore....
this needs a supercharged V6 VVT and than I will buy this in a heartbeat.
I hope that 3.6 is more reliable than the one in my 2010 LaCrosse. Timing chain eater and awful fuel economy. I wish they still made the 3800.
Bro you drove around the area I live at! 😂
Do more old school videos
Looks like it could fit a LT1 in there... Hmm... 😈
That would make a really nice sleeper.
The Poor Gamer nah that would make this into a sedan that people actually want, and that's a big no no in GM's eyes
Jamel Moore with AWD it would be nice with a V8. It would be a serious competitor against Audi
It sounds like my 98 Regal GS (3.8 V6 240hp)
Buick forgot to put a recessed tray on top of the dash to hold things like sunglasses..etc. You would think with over 100 years of experience they would have figured this out by now.
Holden Commodore haha, Jesus this is shameful.
Great car, but I would love for them to put a V8 in this Regal. That would be a badass BUICK!
Would rather choose a 91PA instead of this Opel :D
Should’ve been an Oldsmobile or a Pontiac. Just because the Chinese love Buick’s is why they still offer them here, otherwise GM would never got rid of Pontiac or would call this an Opel here.
