LoJo, us “old timers”’ that just turned 50 have a challenge for you. Please, get on eBay and buy some tackle (Reels, rods, lures) from late 80’s - early 90’s (even the 60’s man) and see how it stacks up to today’s gear that has been R&D’d and designed using modern computers. My buddy swears that the old stuff is better than today’s far superior gear. Please keep valued price points similar. I think this is a genuine challenge for you!
The best cheap baitcaster reel at Wal-Mart is the Quantum Pulse. $36.00. Put power pro 20 pd braid moss green color on it. Your good to go! I have had this reel for two years. Never let me down. Put it on a Berkley Cherrywood medium heavy bait caster rod. For $29.00 online at Wal-Mart. You have a great combo. For cheap! Try it! Shawn
Every once in a while it's fun to satisfy one's curiosity and try a cheap version of something, even if it most likely will end up setting in a box with other discarded items.
Yea I say this because I bought a abu Garcia black max just to have a backup reel and I could never figure out why it wasn’t casting great so I Finnaly took it apart and oiled it up and it was like a dream
MotoStache The point is not whether it is easy or difficult to oil a reel. The point is that a brand new, out of the box reel, should perform as expected without ANY modification whatsoever. If I buy a brand new car and have to change the oil as soon as I drive it off the lot, I’m going to be pissed! And that ain’t rocket science, buddy...
I had the same exact reel last year . Worked fine all season , no problems at all . Worked as well as my black max . Last week I bought an ozark baitcast Reel , the green one For $ 30 . Right out of the box the thumb stuck . Keep on doing it so I took it back and tried another one . Didn't even take it out of the package . Pushed the thumb button , same thing . Crap canned that idea and bought a $ 35 Shakespeare combo . To bad it's still winter.

I've never used Braided line for anything other than "Backing" on my fly rods. I have used Monofilament and/or Flourocarbon on all my rods, Spinning and Baitcasting my whole life (60+ years).
Hey lojo I been a sub for a few months I love the vids I'm in Louisiana and trying to build up my gear don't have a baitcaster and that would be a great blessing👏👏
I have always had birds nest issues with floro line, very very little with mono and braid line. I just bought the Abu Garcia baitcaster with 15lb braid. Did some practice casts in the yard had about 3 small backlash, but about 15 great smooth casts.cant wait to try it out on the water.
every walmart has that, i remember when i first got a casting reel i almost got that and the black max , i ended up getting a bass pro shops combo that i later returned and got a Mach Speed Spool Combo , and then a Okuma Stratus that honestly i still day is the best 30 dollar reel i’ve ever had it’s indestructible and great for cranking
I think an all Walmart fishing trip. Rod. Reel. Line. Hooks. Lures. Would be cool !! I use .88 hooks from Wally and don’t have an issue. So it’d be awesome. To see everything cheap in action at once !!
wyatt mac honestly their worm hooks ain’t bad at all. I just tried em out after seeing them there and was wondering how good a dollar bag of 3 or 4 hooks would be and I was surprised
do the one cast challenge. Go to a pond and you have one cast to catch a fish. If you cant catch one on the first cast then move to another pond or lake and keep going.
LOJO that was my very first bait caster the one i learned on and caught my PB bass in 2018 it was 7.8 pounds definitely got some upgraded reels now thanks for making great videos been watching you sense i’ve been on quarantined keep doing what you do i love it.
I think it would be really cool to do a blindfolded lure challenge, but here's the twist. Starting at one end of the aisle, you have a stranger pick 3 numbers between 1 and 10 (maybe 15). So lets say they choose 1, 5, and 10. You take one step, turn to the lures, pick something out. Then, you take 4 more steps, making 5 total steps, turn and choose something again. Obviously the same with 10. I don't know. I think it could be pretty interesting.
I purchased the granite outdoors baitcaster myself a few weeks ago, was brand new unopened and broken when I got it home. Purchased it because I've never fished with a baitcaster reel, returned it and got the Abu Garcia black Max and love it so far
The bass have been about as cooperative lately up here in the northeast - I resorted to catching bluegill yesterday. Cheap Item: the cheap lures are fun to watch (and a bonus when they're surprisingly successful/durable).
I’ve learned my lesson from Walmart combos I’ve bought so many over the years when I’d fish every now and then every time they would brake and jam, now that I’ve started fishing as a main hobby I took time to learn about rods reels and just picked up some pieces at bass pro
Hey Lojo! I bought my wife a granite outdoors spinning reel and it’s actually pretty good! For $15 I was impressed. Thank you for all the great content!
take time to adjust reel, bass pro reccomends tuning reel at every lure/line change. U'll eventually get enough experience to know when u need to set up reel.
I have one of these reels and I have found it to be a workable reel . the only trouble I had with it was spooling on too much line and getting it caught under the spool. took a while to figure out how to dismount the spool to get the trapped line out . once that was done it worked fine , a bit more difficult to set , but workable
Love the different challenges you come up with and do!!! Maybe do a youtuber challenge like u challenge realistic fishing and you challenge your subs to a online fish off using the same lures/baits as u do and have the subs post a video/picture of the catch somehow with time/day and a tape measure..lojo you are the true fisherman always thinking outside the box!!! I want to start filming too but don’t no what GoPro to buy so this is one youtuber helping another fish on tight lines!!!!
Fishing in the south in the summer is tough. I’m down here in Baton Rouge strugglin but loving it. Been wanting to get a baitcaster reel. Challenge idea: Use offshore, deep sea fishing gear/bait in local ponds/lakes
I purchased a $38 baitcaster from Walmart, and it has been working reliably for two years. I did just leave it submerged in a flooded canoe yesterday, so hopefully it will work tomorrow.
@@lojofishing I watched a video that taught how to cast without using your thumb to prevent back lash. He used a lot of break with it. Does that seem right?

lojo.fishing you gotta buy a super cheap rod and reel combo or a 25 dollar challenge
The cheapest bait
The cheap spinner baits at Walmart
Do the cheapest rod at Walmart
