  • World Player of The Year Antoine Dupont continues to prove just how special he is. But is this his best try ever? At first glance it's easy to think that this is just another try, but for me its so much more. It's the culmination of years of hard work to perfect very specific aspects of his game.
    France look mightily strong right now and they were deserved winners in their Six Nations match against Ireland in Paris.
    Being able to dictate what defenders do around the ruck area is a huge part of what makes this French side tick and the Dupont inside line is the cherry on top!
    My French isn't great I'm afraid but one day I'd love to be able to do a video in the French language!

      Ur a genius, 2x as good as the next yt analyst, but don't you think the referees position takes mahony out of the game? Don't you think the Irish scramble would at least have forced another phase without that intervention?

    Not sure if it is his best try, but at least it is a very good example of the French Attack plan. In this, it is very similar to Ntamack's try against the AB, both in the execution and conclusion (or almost).

    Hi Geraint. One of the reasons why this is one of Dupont's best tries ever is because he also exploits his own understanding of the rules of the game. Because the ball has hit a object off the field he's allowed to take a quick throw in because Ireland haven't committed themselves to a line-out yet. His perspicacity revealed by his decision making in that moment is a good index of his study of the game. Like all great players, his game literacy makes him look very articulate on the field. I'd be interested to glean from him whether he had already 'seen' a try as he was taking the quick line-out throw.

    I dont know if it's best Dupon's try but I would be very interested in having your point of view about first French try against Scotland.
    I didn't found, in French press, any indeep strategic analysis about Dupon's position at the begining of the action. He was there on purpose ? Is It something worked durin training ? Was It a trap ?
    I dont think that he was in an "usual position for a 9"

    There is no doubt Dupont is a very special player and he brings a lot to the XV de France but even if we substitute him our team.remains deadly. Innfact we have enough depth to replace our crazy good combination Dupont-Ntamack and still have a team able to give a tough challenge to any other team in the world. That’s something noticeable and that’s why we will be a serious contender for the upcoming WC.
    That being said they won nothing so far except hope, joy and pride. But at least our sport the Rugby will benefit from a team able to provide an amazing show and attract more supporters.

    Great video as usual! Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that for all the chaotic energy behind that try there seems to be a scheme behind it. When Atonio runs with the ball I think that French have set up the Irish defence to drift just as Atonio picks a straight carry into the Irish, ensuring that he gains as much ground as possible.

    • @GeraintDaviesGDD
      @GeraintDaviesGDD  2 года назад +1

  • @jimfonzie2887
    @jimfonzie2887 2 года назад +2

    On the throw-in from the sideline, it's n'tamack calling for dupont to have the ball (it's somewhere else on youtube).
    On the first try, is it his best? I don't think so, one of his skills is to be almost always in support, he does plenty like that with Toulouse ;)
    Underneath its apparent simplicity, n'tamack's pass is really very accurate.
