- How long does it take for kittens to settle into their new home?
Teddy and Sushi were 8 weeks old when we brought them home - and it took quite a while for them to feel confident to leave the security of their carry case! Find out just how long it took as we follow their journey from the shelter!

I remember my first 2 cats. They were tuxedo cats and they were much comfort for each other. They lived 19 years.
how are they now?
Hi Bryce..amazing..were they going outside? THANKS FOR THAT!!
Yes! I work in rescue adoption n I ALWAYS try to adopt cats out, at least in pairs, cuz I saw how much they need each other. Just like us, they need to be with their own kind.

they're dead.
How they wash each other clean after the meal! A D O R A B L E !!!
Yes! They still do it and our hearts melt every time!
CUTEST THING IV SEEN !!🤭💝
AGREED😍😍🤩♥️♥️♥️
Kitties are obsessed with cleanliness. It’s so built-in even tiny kittens are like that. 😂❤️❤️❤️
Omg I love that you guys let them leave the carrier when they got ready instead of throwing them out. Lol. It's so smart since new cats and kittens tend to hide in a room or a corner when they come home for the first time anyway.
Thanks :) Yes, we didn't want to tip them out of their carrier and have them run for a hiding place straight away! It was worth waiting the 6 hours for them to come out when they had enough confidence - I'm sure it helped them settle in quicker!
@@TeddyandSushi I brought home an 11 week old kitten yesterday. I opened the carrier and she didn't come out. Eventually and not too long after she did but hid under the couch. I havent seen her since but can tell she has ventured around. Any idea how to get her from under the couch without scaring her?
@KNKY When it’s time for dinner they usually appear! When we brought Teddy and Sushi home, we blocked off spaces under furniture so we could redirect them to other hiding places where we could see each other, like their carry case and behind a plant pot in the corner. Be patient, she’ll come out when she’s ready - and be close by when feeding her so she’ll associate you with something good 😸
@@knky1456 not an expert but maybe try taking time laying next to the couch to make him or her comfy with you and slowly start spoon feeding :) also sorry the comment was 4months ago

Lol😃🐈so true!!
Omg ur pfp I thought a bug was on my screen XD
Oh my gosh i got scared of that fly on ur profile..!!
Yes Yes And Yes Lol 😆 !
I smashed my screen 😒
I love the way cats (and kittens) are so cautious about their surroundings in a way that dogs just aren't. Especially places they don't know. But then cats are so much more cautious and wary than dogs anyway.
@Chad Mower A lotta people don't realize that going into getting a cat, which can make the cat really stressed.
yeah when I brought my dog home for the first time he just immediately got out of the carrier and took a big shat on my carpet
@@Hayaa-mc7mu 😂😂😂

It took 6 hours for them leave the box.. and 6 sec for me leaving a like🥰
Aww, thanks!
@@TeddyandSushi my kitten came out the box straight away and hid for hours under the coffee table
It’s a huge and scary world, when you’re so tiny. 😻😻
Yes it is!
Wow, I didn't know that they tend to stay in for so long. My kittens immediately left their carrier (cautiously) right when I opened the door! This is probably explained by the 6 hour car ride beforehand though.
Every cat is different. Teddy was super shy so took his lead from Sushi - and I think Sushi was happy to just have Teddy for company in a safe place. Our last family cat, Boo, was straight out the carrier as soon as we opened the door!
6 hour drive??? I couldn't have endured it any longer. My kitten meowed in all pitches. After the first 5 kilometers I had to stop and thought about taking her back because she was so brutally homesick.
But after 1.5 hours I was more exhausted than the kitten, the drive home was so extreme.
Luckily, when she got home, she quickly forgot her homesickness.
@@christiang.9485honestly coming from someone who has endured like 3 4-6 hour drives to pick up cats I don’t find it that bad.
Shows how important it is to adopt two so they have each other! 😸😺
Yes, exactly! 😸
Haha I love their huge eye stares right when you open the carrier. "What the heck is going on?"
What two beautiful little babies! Kitties are the most beautiful animals in the world!

We've always had good luck putting them in a small, quiet room, with a non-carpet floor, with their food and water and litter box. Usually just a day or two is all that it takes for them to feel safe and settle in.
With hugs and kisses too. They won’t really mind it. 😊
Thanks for posting. A few weeks ago, my husband and I had to put our two babies (14 year old brother and sister) down on the same day. The grief I feel is horrendous but this melts my heart. Makes me think of when we brought them home from a farmhouse at 6 weeks old. They hid behind our couch for hours and I remember asking my husband when we went to bed, “What if they never come out?” Lol. By the next day we were falling in love with each other and they were literally one of the best parts of our lives. This video makes me excited for the day I’m ready to bring 2 more little ones home.
Aww, so sorry for your loss. We lost our last two cats within 3 months of each other aged 7 and 11 - both unexpectedly due to health conditions - and we were devastated as they were such a big part of our lives. It took 2 years before we were ready for new cats, but Teddy and Sushi bring us so much joy. It's painful for you now, but try to remember all the good times you had, rather than the sad. No other cats will replace them, but you'll have new happy memories to make with them :)
Condolences on your losses.
I had to say goodbye to my 14 year old cat David a couple of months ago as well.
I adopted him and my other cat Sam from our local Humane Society when they were each 4 months old.
Both Sam and I were devastated at the loss.
Today however we are both excited.
I brought home our newest family member Saturday.
Oliver is a four-month-old kitten I got from an animal rescue in town.
I'm excited to watch the transformation from scared little kitty to happy and vibrant member of the family.
Good luck to you.
My condolences. It is so difficult. Two at a time must be devastating sad.
I had to put my almost 19 year old boy Smirnoff down on Dec 27th. I’m still numb. 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
💖
I feel your pain. My Cookie passed away September and I'm still crying. She was 18. These two are so adorable 😍
@@louisehelgesson5471 They were. Furbabies are babies to those of us who either don’t have human kids or just feel that connected to our furbabies that we quite literally consider them our kids. I dislike calling my furbabies my “pets.” They are so much more than “pets” for my amusement. They are family, and I’ve loved each of my furry kiddos more than most humans. And by “most,” I mean all but my Mom, brother, fiancé, one of my cousins, and my dearly departed Grandma. So, outside of 5 people (now only 4 living), I love my furbabies more than any other humans.
IT'S SOO CUTE HOW THEY GRROM EACH OTHER!
I CAN'T TOP WATCHING THIS, IT'S TOO BEAUTIFUL
I know - it's sooo cute!
Two kittens are more than twice as much fun, love and havoc than one! Fred and George entertain each other and liven up my other two older cats. Two completely different personalities so there is always love to go around.
My 3 months old kitten keeps meowing all the way while driving home lol. He's also very playful and affectionate.
So glad you got two kittens, so they have each other as playmates/friends, when you need to leave or are a bit busy. Feel a little bad when a cat, dog, bird, whatever, are alone.
I got my new boy today, Dewey and thanks to this, I left him in his carrier until he felt safe to come out. Three hours later and he was out playing. Best decision
Aww, happy to help. Hope you and Dewey have many happy years together! x
2 kittens are helpful. They comfort each other and learn to play together. Cats need friends and Family.
they have each other and thats very important
I CANT WITH HOW CUTE THEY ARE HOLYYYY!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks :) We're obsessed with them!
i have persian kittens please watch my video
@Chad Mower I have baby photos of my girl, who I had to euthanize when she 16 years old. Her little tiny face was so overboard cute the photos still just blow my mind. Got her from a city “dog pound”. My daughter said she looked like a baby fruit bat. 😂😂😂❤️. The innocent, pleading bright eyes, the microscopic face, the total vulnerability. I put a baby blanket in an Easter basket and took her first photos there. It still kills me, she was so precious. I babied her for her entire life. I’m still crying and she passed away in 2019.

Hey we have the sam name
@@felixcat9455 Hello,
I chose this name in honour of the cat the French were going to send into space.
The French chose it in honour of the cartoon Felix the Cat, but I didn't know that at the time.
I'm surprised that You Tube allows two accounts of the same name.
That apart, it's nice to come across one's namesake.
Hope they're settled and happy.
Those eyes👀💜💚❤💙
I know! Makes us melt every time!
My kittens were like:
Oh lets shit in the Box
Oh now our new Dad has to clean us up
Oh now eat
Oh now cuddle
All within 2 hours lol
yeah sounds about right nothing out of the ordinary for kitten babies do all that in two hours you expect a baby cat to be any different?

God blessed this baby kitten
Whrn I brought my kitty home, she was crying nonstop in the car on way to home and she came out as soon as we opened the box and started inspecting house 🤣
So cute! I love when they are grooming each other! 🥰🥰
We love these animal videos because they are joyful.
I'm going to die because of the cuteness
The beautiful kittens, sooo gorgeous and tender, the best creatures of the world!!!!!!!!!
Awwww they're adorable. :) When I got my last two, Roxy the black one, she's in my pic there came prancing out of the box like she owned the place. :) Little Trixy the Calico was a bit more cirumspect. :)
Lol, every cat's different. I think because Teddy and Sushi were born in a shelter they were a bit more cautious. If they had grown up in a house they probably would have been a bit more confident.
@@TeddyandSushi Not necessarily. I got a kitten 4 weeks ago - and it must have had a bad home. As much as she likes me, as much as she feels comfortable and spoiled - she still has some problems. Something must have happened to her there because she was so scared of people.
sweet,, they will be good together...
Anytime I bring new kitten to home, the kitten was so scared and hiding for at least two days before it's ready to approach me by its own will. I'm surprised that this kittens don't seem to be scared at all at their new home.
No, no, no! There is too much cuteness here. 😻😻💕❤️💕🥰
These two are HSK. Highly Sensitive Kittens. So glad you gave them both a lovely home.
Aww, thanks!
those are some really pretty kittens. so sweet -- and wise -- to let them come out when they want to.
Cute little kitties.

why do I love these videos so much… Thank you for sharing
You wonderful people. The kittens felt safe in their basket & you allowed them their time to adjust. You did not hassle them. You just let them be. Bravo you for your patience.
Thank you for your kind comment :)
@@TeddyandSushi Thank you for your patience & understanding, many people viewing your videos can take note about leaving animals to adjust on their own terms. I adopted a street cat & she hissed, scratched, bit was generally angry. I have never hit her nor threw her from my shoulder. Despite her behavior I lovingly & gently put her on the ground after picking her up when she bit me I thought oh well she is getting to trust me. 14 years later I am the same way, she seldom bites me, thank goodness. She is thriving after her wild beginning.
@@TeddyandSushi I adopted 4 cats whilst I lived in Athens, Greece, one was stolen from my neighbor, the other I had to give away the other was put down sadly & our current one my twins felt sorry for her so we fed her each day on our drive then we moved 20 miles north & took her with us, she adapted so well, then we moved countries & she adapted again. She continued scratching & biting, but all these years later she does it less & less, plus she is nearly 16 now. She is a fighter & that characteristic has helped her with her changing environment. You do wonders, I enjoy your videos.
They are adorable..and shy yet ..still cute.😃😍😍🍀
They are precious 💖 So happy you got two so they can play together and not be lonely
I can't stop laughing at how cute they are 😂😂
OMG, they’re so smol and cute 🥺
Recently I lost my kitten. She was my best friends but my bsf came her too me as a baby, I named her after her. I love her so much. A dumb neighbor put traps and sadly she got into one :(, today I’m getting a kitten that’s white with blue eyes , very excited!!
thank you, getting my kitten soon and this prepared the inpatient part of my brain to be patient =)

You TRULY are a cat person. You put yourself in their paws. Kudos to you !!
I adopted my sister-in-law's kitty when she passed away. It took 2 police officers and 2 ambulance drivers to catch this poor 2 year old kitty and put her in a cage then dropped her off at my place, the night she passed away. Then it took almost 3 days of hiding under my couch before she would come out and have a bite to eat with my cat in sight. Then, a miracle happened and she suddenly wanted to be near a human again. The wait is totally worth it. ;)
Aww, kudos to you for taking in a kitty that needed a new home ☺

Cute kittiens
I rescued 2 kittens last year. Henry & Ola ( bro & sis ) They came home went immediately under the settee and would not come out for several days - they must have at night as food was eaten and toilet trays used, but not when i was there. It was several weeks before Henry would allow me to touch him and much longer than that for Ola. All well in the end though and I now have two beautiful 18 month old Cats !
How Sweet are they so precious.
They didn't seem particularly afraid even while they were inside the carrier;
they seemed to mostly be thinking "this carrier is cozy, let's stay here a while".
