It is WILD to me too. But I'm thinking a lot of these folks would come up with another reason why they wouldn't support whatever company would get it next.
I live in the South. Legends are hard to find out here. My one complaint about Legends is their scarcity! They aren't rare figures! They are just hard to obtain. Some of the recent characters like Power Princess, Cable, Warbird and Cyclops were just hard to get at retail. I can't find figures to complete build-a-figures because of distribution issues. That shouldn't happen in a line this old! That's frustrating for new and old collectors alike
I have the same issue. The only store I live near now that sells new baf waves and deluxe stuff is GameStop, and it’s extremely hit or miss. Regular figures should never be hard to find.
@BoogSReviews Amen to that! It's frustrating to have money and still not be able to get the figures u want because they are sold out/ never in stock and u don't want to overpay on the secondary market 😒
I couldn’t even imagine 20+ years and you’re starting over. I hope this never happens, hasbro just needs to make better decisions, but we’ll see what happens in the future.
@ somehow figure out their distribution problem. Figure out their pricing, and lack of accessories because we’re not getting that many depending on the character.
First of all, Giant-Man kicking Egghead had me weak! 😆😂 1000% agree with you Jeff, No one else is going to give us the depth of Marvel's roster. Yes, Hasbro has made some questionable choices, but they have also made some guaranteed bangers. I for one do not want to start over. Now, I will get the occasional Mafex or Mezco for ultimate versions of some of my favorite characters but overall, Hasbro is putting in the work. Now, if we're talking DC, I am all on board with someone like Jada Toys getting the license for 6" scale DC figures. I love what they're doing with Street Fighter and I think they could do a great job. Before people think I'm hating on McFarlane, nothing says they have to stop making 7" scale DC; WB can just let Jada get the 6" scale. The same thing happens already with Diamond Select 7"/Hasbro 6" right now. Also, Let's not forget Jada is doing Scooby Doo and we all know Scooby and DC have the same parent company, soooo...
LOL. Completely impromptu, but those sometimes make for the best video moments :-) Exactly. If another company can upgrade a ML figure then let's do it, but Hasbro needs to be the main source of our Marvel figures because they've done sooo many figures at this point. I love my Jada figures, but I think they'd handle DC like Mafex handles the DC Comics license.
Id rather have fewer figures of well known characters than tons of obscure characters that are subpar quality. Hasbro cant even get Spiderman right most of the time, whether its a movie or comic figure ( the Tobey figure is atrocious, or Magneto or Cap, but thankfully we have a Tarantula figure....
I know some collectors have visions of Jada Toys dancing in their head, but the most likely outcome of Hasbro losing the Marvel license is having it go to McFarlane. If you want 7” figures of Storm, Psylocke, and Jean Gray on a repainted Rogue buck for $30, have at it.
Don't forget that Todd would also give you the same figure in 20 different repaints with no accessories and still charge you $29.99 just because the figure is in a new box.
don't worry, todd hardly ever does female figures. look forward to the 240th wolverine repaint, red and purple wolverine, gold label, wal mart exclusive
The Jada Toys crowd pushing for ML confuses me. They haven't done nearly the kind of output of Street Fighters that would come close to satisfying them for a Marvel-based property. Let them excel with manageable licenses instead of an all-consuming one like Marvel.
The license itself may specific the size at this point. Remember when it went from Toybiz to Hasbro they had to maintain the same form factor. Also McFarlane is following the prior Kenner form factor for his DCAU figures. I believe he was asked to by WB. So if he gets Marvel he will likely be locked in at 6".
@@yolk2112 idk that might get me in trouble in not a huge dc fan but having more figures in a Hasbro style to supplement my gi joe and marvel figures would dent my bank account even further..
My only problem with Marvel Legends is that instead of getting more unreleased characters faster, we keep getting more Caps, Ironmans, Dpidermans, Wolverines, etc, but I know that’s never gonna change
Those characters sell the most/best so Hasbro have to rely on them to compensate for the figures they have to make but know won't sell like Eternals, Shang Chi, Black Panther 2, Agatha etc.
@@glennmiller6759 I feel u. When u have been collecting for 20 years or longer, you crave some new characters to liven up your collection. It's crazy that the toy designers from every toy company swears they are collectors too but they very rarely give fans the new never released characters.
I feel like some folks assume some magical company is going to do everything Hasbro has done just 10x better and that hope is better than the reality of the situation.
I feel like this happens to so many lines. Right when they really start to improve, they get cancelled. It happened to DC Icons, DC Universe Classics, and now it could happen to Hasbro. I hope the rumors aren’t true, as I really do enjoy the GOOD Hasbro figures. Plus, I don’t like mixing lines, as I like consistency between my figures.
OMFG DC icons are incredible. I was absolutely heart broken when they got cancelled! I love them so much but I wish they didn’t break like dry spaghetti so easily.
One thing hasbro does right that many don’t talk about is that hasbro really highlights an shows love to obscure characters Like they do the popular ones but they give the sane attention to b c an even d list characters many companies don’t take that gamble
I’d hate to see Hasbro lose the license. What I want from Hasbro is a little more speed in completing various teams instead of endless variants of Spiderman, Wolverine, and iron man. And I love all three of those characters.
Hasbro needs to keep the Marvel license. I have been very vocal on my dislikes of Hasbro's mistakes, but I have also given them well-deserved credit for improvements they've made. Hasbro isnt so bad where they need to lose the license.
As someone thats been collection marvel figures since the original secret wars, I remember in the mid 90s wishing I had even 70% of the characters in scale and in the costumes I wanted. Fast forward to hasbro since about 2017 to now It's dream land, loads of 80s and and 90s characters and costumes animated series looks. If you grew up in the late 80s/90s Hasbro has made the best marvel line for you. Sure I still want more stuff like a new Wrecking Crew 4 pack with bodys and colors simular to the mU 3.75 line and I want Spider-man animated series Chameleon,Blade and others but it would be insane to want someone else to get marvel at this point. (Start over no thank you!) I want at least another 10 years of legends.
I love the legends team because unlike most other toy creative team on the scale of Hasbro they actually listen and take criticism well. They take into account what people say and they take time to listen to us fans via interviews. We’ve seen time and time again when creators hold them accountable and ask the hard hitting questions and they roll with it. We don’t really get that level of attention and care from other representatives of other toy lines outside of Hasbro. This work because they are actually people passionate about what they do and not just mindless corporate stooges. Dan, Ryan, Dwight actually care about our criticisms
I definitely appreciate the ML team listening to our feedback. I would certainly also add in Steve Ozer aka Action Figure Attack over at Mattel. He takes time out of his off-hours time to respond to fan criticism and provide some insight into creative decisions for the WWE line.
Looking at my Marvel Legends collection, here's a short list of characters I have figures for that no other company has made figures of: -Dani Moonstar [w/Karma head] -Moira MacTaggart -Monet -Legion -Boom-Boom -Syrin -Clea -The Stepford Cuckoos -Kate Bishop -Destiny -Bastion -Prime Sentinels -Omega Sentinel -Pretty Boy -Skullbuster -Lilandra -Donald Pierce -Sebastian Shaw -Selene (alt head for Black Queen)
I bought almost the entire Disney Plus Hasbro line of Marvel figures from Ollie's. All I am missing is Kingpin, but all the figures that had a BAF piece, I got all of those. Still have not found squat at any Ross store, but I have found a lot of good figures at Ollie's.
If Bobby Vala is right, and he worked there and knows people there still, Marvel Star Wars are done at Hasbro, and Hasbro has made an offer for the DC License as it is a lot cheaper than the Disney License. He said that is way a lot of stuff for major HasLabs or product hasn’t been shown off since it would extend beyond 2025…the year both licenses end at Hasbro
Well if Bobby Vala says it, it must be true. Bobby Vala is a jackass and every time he opens his mouth we understand why he's not at Hasbro. I'm curious what friends he actually has there, since all he does is bitch about Lenny or Dwight. I couldn't see Dan or Ryan wanting anything to do with him.
@@Slaytanica666LOL another “has-bro”. I bet you’re a huge “Spector Creative” and “Diaper Island” Stan? Lol If being “bitter” leads to starting and running your own successful company, then everyone should be “bitter”.
Give it time mcfarlane will in some point and time he will start a marvel line of action figures I put money on it they will give him the ok to do 7inch scale diamond select figures It will be McFarlane diamond select marvel figures sad thing is for all of us that has every marvel legends will have to start all over again to scale with the dc multiverse figures He’s already doing the marvel statues just a matter of time before he start doing figures for marvel
Hasbro Legends has some problems. The main one being that many or even most Legends fans also collect Classified GI Joe, and naturally there are comparisons being made. Legends is NOTORIOUS for skimping on accessories while Classified is known for having many killer accessories. That's a fact. It's unfair to compare the two lines though, because Legends has been up front about things. It all comes down to budget, and I don't think that Legends has the budget that the Classified line has--especially since Hasbro owns GI JOE outright, they aren't dependent on Disney budgets or decision making getting in the way of things where GI JOE is concerned. That means they have more leeway to do the characters up right. Unfortunately, Legends doesn't have that luxury. It makes things frustrating for fans and collectors who want things like extra heads and hands with figures. I don't like that we didn't get an extra Rogue head with the white stripes on both sides of her head, or that we didn't get a Siryn screaming head, but I understood that we didn't get those because of budgetary concerns. I can totally forgive Legends because of that. I'm far less forgiving about their choices of characters though. We've gotten tons of X-Men, Spider-Man and Avengers stuff since Hasbro took over. I want to see characters in the Marvel Universe who have not received representation get figures. I want to see classic comic book looks. Those are things that I want as a fan. Legends has done better with this recently. I mean we did finally get Rogue in her original look--even if it didn't have the extra head we wanted. We got Crystal and Lockjaw. I'd have preferred a Kirby style Lockjaw, but I knew they'd never do that. We're getting a classic looking Dragon Man. Classic looking Sentinels. I mean, Marvel Legends has been trying. You have to give them that. I just wish they'd stop doing '90s gimmicks like Cap shields that aren't complete shields. I wish they'd do more accurate classic stuff like giving Thor the classic Mjolnir, or Jean Gray her classic wavy hair instead of giving us modern revisionist stuff. If I wanted to see Legends go to another company, I wouldn't know who would have the facility to do better than Hasbro. I am often disappointed with Hasbro Legends line-ups, but I'm not as often disappointed with their execution. They've improved over the years. They even redid their Magik figure to give us one that was pin-less with legs that weren't bent like Beckum. They're trying. I can see that. I'm not thrilled with half of this years announced figures, but the other half I'm digging. Dude! We're getting a classic comic book ROM figure!! I'm sticking with Legends for the time being. I'm just getting too old to be waiting on characters that I wanted since 2016 without any hope of getting. Can't believe they aren't giving us a Yellowjacket...
The problem is, they have the molds to reuse accessories like hands and stuff. Every figure should have a set of open, fisted, and grappling hands. They already have the molds and reuse parts all the time, so a few extra hands wouldn’t hurt.
Classified make more money per figure than Marvel Legends as Hasbro don't have to pay disney a license for G.I Joe so they have more profits from Classified they can put into extra weapons and accessories. Though I feel Marvel don't need the accessories like G.I Joe do who rely on their military weapons. Most marvel characters have a super power not a weapon.
As someone who has close to 500 figures the very thought of someone else taking over is enough to likely make me think of that day comes a large part of my collecting days could be over.
Hmmm. Lots of thoughts. First -Jeffrey, you've always been more of a "cup half full" kinda person, whereas I'm more of a "cup half empty" kinda guy. So I have a litany of complaints about Hasbro. I can cite endless numbers of times Hasbro dropped the ball. But when it comes to losing the license, that brings up a lot of ground to cover as to whether it would be a good or bad thing. I think though that some of your arguments aren't really valid. For example, if a new company got the license, there's no reason they would have to release all the same basic figures all over again. As long as the new company kept the same scale and style, same articulation, they would fit seamlessly and as others have pointed out, we could sort of just pick up where we left off. As far as character choices, there's no reason to believe that another company would not release unusual or non-top-tier characters. Most Marvel collectors can name far more Marvel characters than probably anyone working at Hasbro or most other toy companies, and the list of characters that people still want - and that the majority of fans are clamoring for - means there's a large market for all the character Hasbro has been neglecting in order to churn 220+ variants of the same 3 characters over and over and over again. Granted, some of the character I personally would love to see - like Sssthgar, Mercurio the 4D Man, etc., are pretty obscure and I don't expect those, although many of them just look so damned cool I can see them being released and NOT becoming peg warmers like the lame "Eternals" MCU garbage Many of them could sell well based simply on their cool and colorful design. But putting aside the very obscure characters, there are hundreds of pretty well known (to Marvel collectors) characters just aching to be made. The market it there. Fans want Mephisto. Fans want Attuma. Fans want classic Banshee. Fans want Mandarin. It's basic Economics 101 - produce the product the customers wants and you make profit. So I don't see that being an issue in any way. The new company could still churn out regular variants of top-selling characters while also producing the much-wanted characters Hasbro is ignoring. It would be a win-win. And hopefully the new company would have intelligent enough people running it (unlike Hasbro) to figure out how to do marketing research and surveys to see which characters are most in demand. As for large figures like Giantman and the Sentinels, other companies have already made such huge characters. A friend of mine has a GI Joe-like figure that's about Galactus size that came out long ago. Also, we don't need the level of detail of Giantman. For example, was it really necessary to give him 3 sets of eyeballs? It was not a selling point for me even if I had decided to buy him. Now there are complaints about how fragile the fingers are, and lots of people are wishing he'd just come with interchangeable hands. I myself would prefer interchangeable hands over the articulated ones because they simply look wrong when making them into fists and so on. Also, was it Mattel who made the giants 24" tall Shogun Warriors in the 1970s? Companies have sold large figures before. There's no reason why a new toy company wouldn't also do so. Have you seen the new Mythic Legions dragon? That thing is HUGE! So I don't think that argument stands either. If a new company got the license, I would hope they would use their brains and learn from Hasbro's many mistakes. No more releasing characters with empty gun holsters (Bullseye), then telling customers "well, you could use it to hold his knife" like some apologist moron at Pulse told me over the phone. No more releasing characters whose hands can't properly hold their weapons in various positions (Firelord, Whiplash, Psycho Man, etc.). No more releasing cheap, in accurate paint jobs that look like the R&D team simply didn't give a damn (Luke Cage). And so on and so forth. Hopefully a new company, if they got the license, would not treat their customers like stupid drug addicts by forcing them to buy 2- packs that contain 1 new character and 1 already released (sometimes already released several times) and forcing them to pay double price for the one character they want. I could go on and on. I'm not sure if Hasbro losing the license would be a good thing or a bad thing. I suspect that price-wise, it might be a bad thing because Hasbro is so huge, it can keep costs down since it pays less for raw materials (they can buy it cheaper in larger bulk), they have more advertising dollars, etc. But in the age of the internet, that last issue may be moot. So if a new company got the license, it could go either way for fans - better or worse. It would depend entirely on whether the new company was wise enough to simply pick up where Hasbro left off and keep churning out new in-demand characters and whether they were smart enough to learn from Hasbro's egregious quality control issues. If a company did those two things, then yes, I'd love for Hasbro to lose the license. If not, I'd prefer Hasbro keep the license.
@@Vintage-Bob realistically any company that gets the license would start all over again, popular = demand, in these companies minds, Hasbro is one of the few willing to dip into the obscure
@@LylesFigureFiles I'm not sure I'd want Hasbro to lose the license. What I was saying was that there would be pros and cons if they did. I don't have a lot of figures from other companies to compare, but I'd definitely rule out McFarlane (I find is stuff ugly and many of the figures can't even stand upright, they're so unbalanced), and definitely not Mafex (the designs are too dainty for my tastes - I sold off the Mafex Thor and regretted getting it). Maybe Four Horsemen or Mythic Legions. They seem to do good work. But probably the best situation would be where Hasbro keeps the license but ups its game a little.
If we don’t want them to lose the license how can we get to them to fix some things, the gummy legs, joints, prices…. I still don’t understand how mcfarlane figures cost less. I also wouldn’t want to start over with a new company… but Jada looks like they’re on the right track
McFarlane figures are way worse than Marvel Legends figures IMO. I think it's pretty clear that Todd's passion is statues, not action figures. Bad articulation, bad anatomy, and bas scaling between the figures is enough for me to prefer Hasbro over McFarlane
@@juansanchez209they might not look as good as legends but if you put that aside and look at what’s there as far as plastic used and how many parts of articulation they’re about the same, different execution….. but also look at the sculpt detail compared to smooth plastic with paint
Slow down, buddy!!!!Comic book Hawkeye is taller than Captain America Steve Rogers! Comic book Hawkeye should be on the Vulcan body for accurate scaling. Most people don't care but MCU Clint Barton is the short king. The Hasbro Legends team doesn't use the Marvel Handbook as the standard for figure heights otherwise the Renew Your Vows Spider-Man would be much smaller. Most Spider-Man figures are too tall for 5'10" Peter Parker.
On a separate note, are there any Marvel characters with a vehicle lineup like Batman? McFarlane has put out around twenty 6 and 7 inch scale vehicles this year alone with most of them being Batman related, some are DC Direct rereleases but still. Meanwhile Hasbro drips and drabs with GI Joe Classified.
The only problem I have with Hasbro is they simply do not put the same amount of effort into Marvel Legends as they do GI Joe or Star Wars…. they just don’t…. It’s an overall lazy overpriced line with no real effort put into it…. with one or two exceptions here and there…. for comparison Jada Toys Street Fighter and Mattel Masterverse blows just about anything Hasbro Marvel Legends produces out of the water and for a lower price point…. I mean compare Masterverse Two Bad at 35 bucks and everything that came with him to a 65+ dollar Odin or Hulkbuster…. the biggest issue with Hasbro is the price to product quality ratio with Marvel Legends…. they are just way overpriced for what Hasbro is giving us….
Mafex puts out high end Marvel figures. Diamond Select puts out quality figures. You don't have to buy anything from Hasbro and avoid feeling like they're ripping you off.
Jada Toys is a small company, they can't afford the Marvel license (Disney IPs are notorious for having INSANE licensing fees). People who imaging Jada Toys making Marvel figures are living in a fantasy land. It's simply not possible
@@trevormcguire6984 Yes, to an extent. Both Jada Toys and I are based in Southern California (more specifically, we are both in the LA Metropolitan Area), so I have spoken to Jun and other members of the team for media purposes. In case you were unaware, Jada Toys is a relatively small (but growing!) private company as opposed to a major publicly traded corporation like Hasbro Believe me, I am one of Jada Toys' biggest fans and supporters, but I am also a realist. I have an idea of what Disney charges for the Marvel license (the Star Wars license is even more!), and (respectfully) it is WAY more than Jada Toys can afford in their current state
Hasbro has gotten really good at what they do of late like you said. They seemed almost clueless at first when they first took over the line but it’s night and day now. I’d hate to see them lose the license.
I dont collect Marvel Legends anymore stopped when they started focusing on Movie version I pick up random fig to fill holes in what I have but very selective , But hasbro had done a solid job on line not like anyone else going to make a superior product.
One item picked up the West Coast Avengers Multipack and Black Knight with Sersi another company will not get to those characters or those version for at least a decade at best
@@LylesFigureFiles true has been some nice figures only concern when Marvel finally gets the movies back to coming out on a reg basis going back to them. It is the last 2 years have been a side effect of Covid shutting down hollywood then on top of it the writer strikes have kept the MCU sideline for most part which have helped Hasbro
My cousin has been collecting figures for decades now and he used the excuse of hasbro buying the license as a good stopping point in his collection of marble legends.
Mfs also quick to hate on ML when they have a mid at worst release but get really quite when they drop figures like there doctor strange or astonishing x-men wolverine
Is it a package deal for them licensing from Disney? Like do they have to get Star Wars and Marvel movies and comics? It would be nice if they could somehow keep doing the comic figs at least. They have to be losing their ass on the MCU and Disney SW stuff.
Blue Marvel really disappointed me, and it was simply the lack of detail in the hair. At this point the only figures I’m invested into are AoA and no other line is going to give me the amount of characters that legends have. Sure Mayfex looks better but I’m just more interested in the amount of characters I can get over the small improvements in just a couple characters. That’s just my opinion. I’m willing to give a little grace because they are trying to please multiple different types of collectors and some of these failures are unacceptable, I don’t need to start over just to complete teams that I already have completed. The biggest issue with me is accessories, if they just do a better job at giving us accessories that display characters powers I can see less criticism. The price isn’t coming down and Hasbro have to be more aware of giving fans more bang for their buck.
But Lyles Hasbro is a billion dollar company they deserve critical criticism to make the brand better and they have made some amazing figures in the past 2 years but the cut corner ways has to stop, the Haslab stuff should have better QR there have been issues with Sentinel and Giant man and shouldn’t be the case especially when it takes a year to make, my 2 cents keep up the great work
@@clarkeant Agreed, it boggles my mind sometimes that collectors can be so quick to defend a huge corporation sometimes even against their own interests. Hasbro is not some magical and unique entity, other companies are able to do the job just fine. Bandai and Spinmaster come to mind.
Watch that Head's Up video. I have zero problems calling Hasbro, Mattel, McFarlane, etc. any company out when they need some "guidance" on how to improve the figures.
@LMoon83 my interest is in my extensive Marvel Legends collection, not Hasbro. I'm not sure how I'm defending them when in the last ML video I mentioned how they mess up too often on head sculpts.
@@LylesFigureFiles point taken. I’m just think this goes beyond the quality and price of their own figures, but their anti consumer practices. Their Star Wars 6” line is overpriced with awful articulation and no accesories, and they actively block import figures from getting official distribution on this side of the world. Sincerely, as far as I’m concerned, screw Hasbro.
I get that you have a collection and history that supersedes most, as a company Hasbro has given us a lot and we all appreciate it and see the potential of what the company can do but they have to button up on the Walmart, Target, and Walgreen exclusive madness which makes it hard to get key figures, also the reuse of old bodies like sunfire, spiderman UK, and Bucky cap. All figures should have double joints and butterfly joints and classified is doing it and more effects and head sculpts… and I’d be less critical but they are so close just practicing bad business practices
Hasbro is always improving i hope they keep it, if another company take over the new company will start from the begining and release only the most popular, i don't want a restart i started with the begining toybiz wave 1, i don't want to wait another 20 years for characters like the acolytes
Ive only bought 2 figures from hasbro this year. They need to stop with the bs 2 packs and 3 packs that have 1 figure we want. And they need to stop cutting corners at every turn. Till then, ill stick to actually good figures like mafex, mezco, three zero, sentinel etc.
@LylesFigureFiles to be fair, Joytoy has been knocking it out of the park with thier Warhammer line and it's hard enough to keep up. I've been trying my best however and it has forced me to shift directions with my collecting
Let me just get all the figures I need first then Hasbro can drop the license. No new manufacturer can/will touch the depth and scope of that many characters. No way I'm buying all these characters all over again.
Great vid Jeffrey. I agree that Hasbro should keep the license. Yes, they have some issues, but they undeniably continue to improve. The sheer range and deep cuts that I have in my collection is appreciated along with the teams that are slowly being completed. 😂 Again, I can recognize the need for improvement (number of accessories, head sculpts, some scaling ,etc.), but have to recognize the vast improvements including pinless male and female bodies, face printing and retro waves that give us great figs like She-Hulk, original Iron Man, a great Giant-Man, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. 3pk to name a few.
There are rumors that Hasbro is going to give up the Disney License, even more shocking there is a rumor that Hasbro wants to sell off the entire toy divison and only do Wizards of the Coast. Sounds crazy but I keep hearing it from folks who are semi accurate and have sources. I think even if not true, we are in for a major shake up in 2025.
Fantastic video Jeffrey. With a love/hate relationship with ML I discovered your video a great refreshing look at this topic. It would not surprise me if Hasbro loses the Disney license, but with all things considered, it probably won't happen. These 2 corporate giants would not jeopardize a relationship in such a matter. Now that said, it would also not surprise me should Marvel (a part of Disney) adds more clauses to the contract for more control over character selection and design. Thanks for your efforts Jeffrey.
Thanks Jay! It's an interesting discussion for sure. There's been so much in the comments about it, I think I might just need to dedicate the live tomorrow to chatting real time with everyone about it.
The thing is... the "Marvel license" entails a lot. Legends is only a part of what Hasbro produces under that license. Same with "Star Wars." I know a lot of Legends collectors think they're the center of the universe... but it probably isn't the case. Can Hasbro carve off "just 6-inch comic figures" from the Marvel license and drop the rest? So they don't have to produce unsellable "roleplay" accessories for 10-year-olds who aren't buying them? Maybe. Or maybe by having the "Marvel license" they are mandated by the licenser to make toys for various age brackets, and figures from the D+ shows. Etc. That stuff is dragging them down, financially. Given Mattel holds a portion of the Star Wars license, and even McF is doing some Marvel stuff, maybe Hasbro can get out from under the kids-toys part of the brand and put more money and effort into the collectors' line.
The fact remains that Hasbro is a company with a BoD and they make all the calls on how much time and money get put into the toys. Watch some of Bobby Valas videos. He did one recently about the Marvel Universe line and he made the Beast and was limited on the stuff he could do; no articulation, no accessories, no extras. He goes in depth a few times. The board makes the rules and profit takes precedent over innovation, quality and even employee intake
To me it's not so much that I want Hasbro to lose the license as it is for more different companies to have access to it. You have Hasbro, then much more expensive import figures, Mcfarlane is starting to make statues (which I might never buy but that's still pretty cool), anyway. I recently gave, like, Jakks Pacific a shot with their Altered Beast Werewolf (Dragon on the way) and their Simpsons line (Bartman, furious Homer) and these figures are SO much fun and the accessory selections are mostly there, especially for the price they go by (15-20 CAD), so much that I can't help but wonder what colorful and fun Hulk and Spider-Man and Mole Man etc figures they could make. It'd honestly be so awesome, for adults and kids alike!
Jada Toys are impressive as hell as well holy crap. That Dhalsim, with the bendy wire outstretched limbs? It's like they're showing off what they could do for a Mr Fantastic if only they had the license
We've got Mafex, Diamond Select, Hono Studios and a ton of other import companies doing Marvel. MLs from Hasbro are just the affordable mass market offerings. Did you collect the Playmates Simpsons by any chance?
What devilry is this!? Lyle defending the Hasbro! Pearls clucthed! Indeed, these criers will be sad asf should Hasbro call it quits. I for one will be done, ain't no way I'd start a Marvel collection again from scratch.
I wouldn't start a new line over either (just like I didn't restart DC after Classics) but there are a few characters that I would like to see made first (primarily the few that are needed to complete teams that are almost done), but outside of that, once ML ends with Hasbro, my collection of Marvel characters will be essentially over. p.s. yeah, I'll prob still grab a good mafex figure here and there, but not that often.
Yeah, there's no way I'm starting over. When Legends is done, I'm mostly done with marvel. It may be just as well, as the price we pay for this stuff is getting ready to go through the roof.🫤
I thought firing my PR team would stop having people think my first name was Lyle instead of Jeffrey (sigh) Seriously, I've been pretty fair with ML and all the companies I'm invested in. Praise the great berate the things that need improving.
I don’t think Hasbro should lose the license. I feel like Hasbro should be putting more effort into making their figures better. there’s no reason why in 2024 we have figures who have elbows and kneecaps that are completely different colors than the rest of their arms and legs, why we still have fuzzy paint in the faces, why we still have limited accessories with figures, especially for how much they’ve hiked up the prices in the past five years. there’s no reason why the Haslab giant man came out and damn near every single review that I’ve seen on it has a defect with them not receiving the tray with straight eyes. why we’re getting “deluxe” figures that are 50+ dollars that aren’t worth that. Like Phoenix being $50 bc of a stand or Crystal and a damn near statue of lockjaw being almost EIGHTY dollars. The problem is a lot of big content creators in the action figure community are in Hasbro’s pockets so they don’t hold Hasbro accountable. They glaze and kiss ass no matter what Hasbro team does so Hasbro doesn’t think they need to step up their game and continues to give us mediocrity because they know that the voices of the community are never going to speak up and say anything because they want to continue to get figures to reveal and review early.
I wonder if as many content creators get early/free figures from Hasbro as you might think. I think it's a lot more that collectors who are content creators buy figures they assume they'll like. You could buy things you have never liked and build a decent following explaining why the figures are terrible, but I think most people who take the time doing these videos are inherently bias simply because they like the line not because they're hoping for free figures.
Totally agree. Marvel Legends remain the perfect balance of collector quality, poseability, playability, and price. I would not want anyone else to get this license. The depth of character selection is so impressive.
@@LylesFigureFiles Jeffrey, I have a question for you. If ML released the Wizard, Trapster/Paste Pot Pete, and Sandman (hopefully in that green tech costume he had for so long as a member of the Frightful Four), who would you want for the 4th member of the Frightful Four? I don't personally like using Medusa as the 4th member because she was later revealed to be an Inhuman who had lost her memory and who was controlled by the Wizard, who kept her memories of her true identity suppressed. So she was always really a good guy, so to speak (plus her figure sucks because her hair is an unmoving mass that makes her top heavy). Thundra was a cool new addition/replacement, but she was only a member a short time - 2 appearances if my memory serves me. The Brute became the 4th (new) member in FF #177 and he was a cool enough character, though he likewise only lasted for the one short appearance. It's one of Marvel's tragedies that the Frightful Four were always actually the Frightful Three Plus One. Personally, I am inclined to use Thundra as the permanent 4th member, although I kinda like the idea of getting The Brute as 4th character. What do you think?
@@Vintage-Bob I kinda like having Medusa with the FF just because of the evil mirror to the Fantastic Four. I don't think her hair was too wild when Kirby drew her with the enclosed cap. I do like Thundra though.
@@LylesFigureFiles I do like Medusa best as the 4th member, but I'd want her in her original costume. I always sorta wished they had left her as a villain and not made her an Inhuman because she made a great villain.
Can’t another company create Marvel figure in the 1/12 scale but not under the Marvel Legends banner? Like if Marvel decide they want more money, they can issue the IP to another company. Like sometime we see SHF or Figma do them. I think it’s good to start from zero. I’m a late collector so I don’t have 1,000+ ML.
I admit I do not collect Marvel Legends as a focus. My Marvel stuff is spread around over a few lines because I grab characters I like. But I agree about if the license moves, the new company will likely start near the beginning with Spider-Man, Cap, etc. Bought the Cabal pack so I could get a good Taskmaster. How long until new company gets to the West Coast Avengers? The Legends I do have are great, like Sabertooth and the recent Cage and Iron Fist pack. So, I am good with it staying at Hasbro.
Unfortunately, it looks like Hasbro is divesting of making toys altogether. They are dumping off their own IP to other toy companies, which is why I'm scared for Gi Joe. But, for Star Wars and other licenses they currently produce, it may just be a matter of time until they drop them. They are going the route of a digital and IP holding company.
I'm wondering how many more Star Wars figures I absolutely HAVE to have. Transformers is getting close to being wrapped up for me, but GI Joe and Marvel Legends still have a ton of figures left on my wish lists!
just happy to have my favorite 80's character Death's Head 1 (culd have been vac metalized, But small complaint. ) and I got lucky enough to get my other favorite 80's DC from Mc Farline Ambush Bug. My inner child was so happy. I agree with you Hasbro is the best place for the license. I'm just happy to have my favorites within a month of each other.
Hasbro been doing a real good job lockjaw skar sauran vemon pool cage daredevil Ghostrider punisher random Madame Hydra banshee Spider-Man rhino Hydro man Giant man jackel scorpion green goblin bullseye tombstone jigsaw egg head and I can keep going ain't nobody else is going too beable too catch up
@LylesFigureFiles I've been collecting marvel Legends every since the Toybiz days when they stop making their marvel Legends,,I sold alot off except certain ones like cage dragon man Doc Samson and a few others and upgraded too the hasbro marvel Legends i have all the waves specifically all the Spider-Man waves i would be crushed if they loose their license i have way too many marvel Legends too start over
Hasbro needs to shake it up a little. Offer hands and accessory packs. Offer alternate heads in a pack. Give more options to want to keep a figure. Ie. a Spider-Man pack with web lines, more hands, and three heads. I would buy that. A blast effects pack. Something not offered with their figures.
$15 - $20 depending on what’s offered. A couple of companies offer that. On top of their main offerings. For example Valaverse, I don’t collect his stuff, but he does offer those options. It would save them from not offering them with the figures. You buy a Banshee and they didn’t give you his screaming head and only fists in the main offering. This way, they can give you a screaming head, flying hands and a calm head in an accessory pack. Make a few of them and see if they sell. Then if they do, make more. Their Classifieds line can do with some of those packs too.
Chris cocks ceo of hasbro (formerly of Xbox) says “we are not a toy company” in many interviews. He’s taking the company to mobile apps and gaming cause that’s what he knows which means less money spent on toys and new molds, engineers are forced to be clever to get out good product. The only line that seems to be actively getting attention is the gi joe classified line.
People in the comments raving about the depth of character selection is a bit of a reach really considering legends have been about 20+ years. Their not exactly gonna make avengers or xmen remakes every single year, of course there will be obscure characters Also, how do you know other companies wouldnt go deep, or how do you know other companies wouldnt make haslab scale figures? 10 years ago nobody thought hasbro would make a giant galactus but here we are. Personally, i think the action figure world needs a bit of a shake up, if some licenses get swapped around, im game.
Yes, im ok with that. Granted, im nowhere near a completionist so it wouldnt hurt me as much, i only buy my favourite 5 or 6 characters, so it would be great for another company to tackle a venom or carnage for instance. I know im in the minority as completing teams or figure scale matters little to me. I just want something to look cool on a shelf that looks different to what i already have. Hasbro stuff all looks the same. My shelfs just need freshening up.
They do more for G.I. Joe and transformer than what they do for marvel legends, yes we got some good ones, but we had to wait for years to complete some set. It just rubs off the wrong way.
I'm a 4 inch guy so hasbro already lost me, legends just recycled marvel universe designs, but those designs are just about out of figures, so they've gotten even lazier. Not to mention distribution is still trash. Hasbro is screwing up everywhere. Figures is over
Hope Hasbro doesn't lose the licence. Although I don't love everything they do, I recently picked up the retro carded venom and it's amazing good video 😁👍
If rumors are true I would rather the line end and not be picked up by another company cause no one could do it better honestly. Jada would take forever and they would only crank out characters we already got from Legends, plus I think Jada's figures are mid so it wouldn't be better than the Mafex Marvel stuff, cause that's something Jada glazers seem to forget that other companies put out better stuff. McFarlane is the one I'm tired of hearing about because it doesn't make sense, how is Todd gonna put out 7inch figures of a rival studio? Not only that but Diamond Select already makes 7 inch Marvel figures so it's competition with itself and Warner Bros. It would honestly just be redundant if another company got the Marvel license and like you said, do we really wanna start over again? With a massive line like Marvel Legends? With characters and figures we don't even see be attempted by import companies? Given how great these last few years have been with Legends I can't see them dropping the license, maybe changing the contract up a bit so we get less MCU figures and better comic figures but they would be crazy to drop Legends entirely.
What's crazy is I REALLY like the Jada figures, but a good amount of their fans seem to think they could immediately step up and crank out anywhere near the amount of figures from Marvel or DC like Hasbro, Mattel or McFarlane. McFarlane's license for DC was extended through 2025 so that's why they're talking about him getting Marvel.
if hasbro loses the license im done, no way am i starting over. hasbro has done so much more good than bad, i dont care what names i get called, ill stand on that hill. i dont buy mcu figures all i want is comic characters and i love the obscure characters we aint getting if we start over. i mean we are getting a rom next year!!!
I think the consensus of the majority of collectors is shifting to quality over quantity. There was such a glut of figures that have been released since COVID that space and money are now at a premium
That's an interesting point. If those collectors aren't going to buy in to the figures anyway, there's no reason to cater to what they want if you're a Hasbro.
Hasbro can keep the line if they give us the appropriate quality for the prices they’re charging. These figures need to be a lot better or we’re not going to spend our hard earned money with them. I would love if they kept the line and significantly improved the paint they add to the figures.
They're mass market line so they don't have the incentive to do that. Mafex and Mezco provide higher end options for collectors that want more bang for their buck.
As of right now they are pulling legends out of stores and making more exclusives to save manufacturing costs, no extra toys laying around after the whole covid debacle that they are still sending overstock from years ago to Ross and citi trends and Ollie’s
Another banger LFF. i was about to comment about the demand, but you started talking about it lol. Other than MCfarlane, (which i dont want) i dont see any company out right now that can keep up with output for marvel. comics, MCU, and like you said the exclusives and haslab type figures.
I would not want Hasbro to lose the license but if they did I'd want Mattel to take up the mantle. Look at how good their MOTU Masterverse figures are, if they can match that quality and they can definitely handle the quantity then it will be a homerun. Please no Mcfarlane, I like his Spawn figures but some are just not fun to pose and his figures have issues standing because of those awfully designed ankles! BTW LOVE that Giant Man!!!!
I think Mattel is the only company with the bandwidth to handle Marvel figures. I've gotten used to McF and kinda dig them now. Giant-Man is so much fun!
@ I mean it kinda is in some degree because they apparently didn’t care enough to actually paint the gold but instead they molded it or whatever you call it
$1 in 2008 is worth $1.46 in 2024. $15 figure in 2008 is the equivalent of a $21.9 figure in 2024. I feel like I am getting far more than a 14% increase in value with the improvements to articulation, paint, plastic quality, and face sculpts. The faces are so much better it is hard to put a 2016 figure next to a 2024 figure.
I never root against Marvel Legends! I am against McFarlane DC! And I actually McFarlane Warhammer! I can only afford the cheaper Warhammer, but they make Excellent Heavy Troopers for my Kang Army! As mini-Iron Man's Mandalorians make up my Kang Regular soldiers!
Funny, I'm watching the Earth's Mightiest Heroes arc where they're fighting Kang and keep thinking how cool Kang's fleet crew would make as Marvel Legends.
@LylesFigureFiles Yes they would indeed. I have to make do Army Building. I use Aliens and Stormtroopers for Thanos Army, but I am hoping to get more Outriders, Human Men for my Kingpin Organization, Mandalorians and Warhammer for my Kang Army. The Mandalorians look kind of Futuristic and with their particular weapons will do.
As much as hasbro makes bad decisions and can get on my nerves they are still the best. I'd hate to see them loose there license. I'm all ready annoyed they allmost got the dc license and then mcfarlane got it. I do have to say, I would save a bunch of money if it did happen. 😂
@@LylesFigureFiles Marvel hit its peak at Infinity War and have been in decline since. Yes there have been a few hits but those are the exception. Just look at B&N and you see what's selling now, and it's not American comics. Marvel has a lot of control and added cost in their products...which directly impacts what Hasbro can and cannot make. Lots of other reasons too, but a saturated market, rough years creatively, increasing costs to shrinking dollars, and Hasbro having financial issues, it may very well be a matter of when the license moves not if.
People are way too hateful towards hasbro. They need to improve some things, but all companies do. I have the impression that they exagerate every flaw.
People really want perfection. Whenever I see someone complain it's definitely the lazy in some figures. You're right though, when you take a step back and look at ALL the odd ball characters we get it's really impressive.
And yeah some figures absolutely needed someone in the design phase to say "whoa, that doesn't make sense. We have a better part that would work far smarter here." That hardcore level of detail isn't always there, but I'd rather complain about Orb being on the Bucky Cap body than not having an Orb figure at all.
Very well said, Jeffrey! I have been with Marvel Legends since Toybiz Wave 1 and the Toad, and if they keep making 'em, I'll keep buying 'em!! (And, of course, watching you talk about 'em on your wonderful channel!!). Make Mine Marvel (Legends)!!
Another company can definitely do better than Hasbro. Seems to be a bit of gaslighting in this video. I definitely think JadaToys would do better, but they are too small of a company to take on such a large license. Other companies would do a giant man and not make it not crowd funded. If Mythic Legions make that huge dragon a preorder without crowd funding then nuff said, Haslabs need to go the way of the dinosaurs. Now the output you are probably right about, but that just talks to how large Hasbro is as a company. I think I would rather have 10 awesome figures than 100 garbage figures and 6 “well ok this good for Hasbro” figures.
If Jada could get the license, i could see them putting out fewer figures and based on well known characters like Avengers, Spider man or F4, like waves, that could probably help bevause releasing 2-3 waves a year with new sculpts and such would be compensating for said new sculpts. Focusong on less character output would allow for better figures with better proportions, sculpted details and accessories.
How long have you been collecting Marvel Legends? If you’ve got a smaller collection sure maybe quality over quantity would do it for you, but MAFEX already has collectors covered on that front. The viable options because Jada sure isn’t is McFarlane or Mattel. Would they do that much better a job to invest in buying the Marvel characters all over again?
@@LylesFigureFiles I've been collecting for about 15yrs not specifically ML's, but I have gotten selective ones over the years. I think if Jada could get a license to make a few marvel figures they would be able to atlease prove what they can do. I'm not so sure Jada is interested in that, and like I said before, they are just too small of a company to take on such a huge license. Definitely not McFarlane and I'm not so sure about Mattel if thier HeMan line is any indication then no, I would trust Mattel either. There's no one that can dethrone Hasbro at the moment unfortunately. That's not to say collectors shouldn't want better options other than Habro. But yes I do think Jada would do a better job as far a quality for the price, but the quantity would be the issue for them.
@@LylesFigureFiles the main problem imo is the lack of good sculpt, proportions, paint, accessories, articulation. Hasbro isnt catering to kids with these figures due to the favt they re tapping into obscure characters, or that they re putting out 300$ crowdfunded figures like Ghost Rider, or deluxe 60$ figures like Blob. I expect more from them.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to start over from scratch after 20 plus years... it's weird to me people would root for this
It is WILD to me too. But I'm thinking a lot of these folks would come up with another reason why they wouldn't support whatever company would get it next.
@@n8dawgaic apart from new fans. 🤔
@@kuldipbinning1989 That would absolutely make sense, but that isn't where I hear the majority of this sentiment
Competition is always good. If it wasn't for McFarlane and others lighting them up they would doing the same rehash
Whatever it takes to get good to great figures out there, I'm on board with!
It's frustrating to have money and still not be able to get the figures u want because they are sold out/ never in stock and u don't want to overpay on the secondary market 😒
amazon gamestop and big bad toy store have preorder if not for them id have nothing
Power Princess and Cable were really hard to get for everyone. Have there been some you couldn't get online?
@@BoogSReviews I agree about that for sure. And exclusives shouldn't be hard to find at that particular retailer either!
I couldn’t even imagine 20+ years and you’re starting over. I hope this never happens, hasbro just needs to make better decisions, but we’ll see what happens in the future.
What decisions would you like to see them make?
@ somehow figure out their distribution problem. Figure out their pricing, and lack of accessories because we’re not getting that many depending on the character.
I want an updated "Mole man".
Me too!
hell yea
First of all, Giant-Man kicking Egghead had me weak! 😆😂
1000% agree with you Jeff, No one else is going to give us the depth of Marvel's roster.
LOL. Completely impromptu, but those sometimes make for the best video moments :-)
Exactly.
@@tonileo9849why not just collect Mafex then?
All of Todd's male figures look like they have Down's Syndrome! They all look goofy and the R word!
I’d much prefer McFarlane lose the DC license and Hasbro take that over
agreed!
McFarland just needs to stop all together lol
@@yolk2112 idk that might get me in trouble in not a huge dc fan but having more figures in a Hasbro style to supplement my gi joe and marvel figures would dent my bank account even further..
Agreed Mcfarlane sucks😅
Facts
My only problem with Marvel Legends is that instead of getting more unreleased characters faster, we keep getting more Caps, Ironmans, Dpidermans, Wolverines, etc, but I know that’s never gonna change
It's for those newcomers to the line to have their crack at the big guns.
For newcomers and it there best sellers
Just like McFarlane with Batman. He sells and pays for other figures to be developed
Man, I for one hope Hasbro keeps the license
You're not the only one!
Imagine Mcfarlane with the license. You would just get 90 versions of the same spider man and an occasional iron man in every wave.
I think Hasbro could get most of the essential characters done in 2 years with a focus on waves and 5-6 box sets.
OMFG DC icons are incredible. I was absolutely heart broken when they got cancelled! I love them so much but I wish they didn’t break like dry spaghetti so easily.
One thing hasbro does right that many don’t talk about is that hasbro really highlights an shows love to obscure characters
Like they do the popular ones but they give the sane attention to b c an even d list characters many companies don’t take that gamble
Exactly. The Serpent Society, Xnemu, Supreme Scientist. So many offball characters we wouldn't get from another company.
I’d hate to see Hasbro lose the license. What I want from Hasbro is a little more speed in completing various teams instead of endless variants of Spiderman, Wolverine, and iron man. And I love all three of those characters.
Yeah, team completion is absolutely and should be a priority at this stage. I still get annoyed with the holes in my DC Classics line.
Hasbro needs to keep the Marvel license. I have been very vocal on my dislikes of Hasbro's mistakes, but I have also given them well-deserved credit for improvements they've made. Hasbro isnt so bad where they need to lose the license.
Yeah no line is perfect and Hasbro's ML misses have been rarer than their hits lately.
I dont want Hasbro to lose the license.
I just want them to make better figures, thats it really.
I think they've been doing much better the last two years even with the occasional flawed release.
I do not want Hasbro to lose Marvel Legends line .
I wish they had the DC line .
Well, maybe if they lost ML they'd grab DC?
Exactly. They're so much further along to being done than any other company could dream of!
Considering how Hasbro handles its own licenses, I wouldn’t be too surprised if they dropped the Marvel and Disney licenses
You're not feeling how they're handling GI Joe and Transformers?
Looking at my Marvel Legends collection, here's a short list of characters I have figures for that no other company has made figures of:
-Dani Moonstar [w/Karma head]
-Moira MacTaggart
-Monet
-Legion
-Boom-Boom
-Syrin
-Clea
-The Stepford Cuckoos
-Kate Bishop
-Destiny
-Bastion
-Prime Sentinels
-Omega Sentinel
-Pretty Boy
-Skullbuster
-Lilandra
-Donald Pierce
-Sebastian Shaw
-Selene (alt head for Black Queen)
That seems shorter than I expected. Oh! You said in YOUR collection!
I bought almost the entire Disney Plus Hasbro line of Marvel figures from Ollie's. All I am missing is Kingpin, but all the figures that had a BAF piece, I got all of those. Still have not found squat at any Ross store, but I have found a lot of good figures at Ollie's.
Ollie's has been great for picking up figures!

I'd be SHOCKED if we don't see Yellowjacket soon at this rate.
For sure. I'm sure I'm right there with you with that number and I have no interest in restarting
So VB, what company would you want to see get the Marvel license?
Prices aren't coming down. Have you had much problem with gummy legs lately? I'm finding less issues with QC with my newer MLs.
Yea some of the newer ones I’m not to big of a fan on the plastic they’re using. They are looking better
Whew. Serves me right for doing a video without having the Marvel Encyclopedia in front of me. ;-)
No, not on the level of Batman. The Fantastic 4 might be the closest?
Hasbro will never lose the Marvel license
I hope not!
Don't they technically own the Marvel Legends branding?
@@scottroxford5715
And it's weird also because they had the license *before* Disney even bought Marvel.
Why not??
Jadatoys would be better :v
Ummm...
Jada Toys is a small company, they can't afford the Marvel license (Disney IPs are notorious for having INSANE licensing fees). People who imaging Jada Toys making Marvel figures are living in a fantasy land. It's simply not possible
@@juansanchez209you know thier ins and outs huh?
@@trevormcguire6984 Yes, to an extent. Both Jada Toys and I are based in Southern California (more specifically, we are both in the LA Metropolitan Area), so I have spoken to Jun and other members of the team for media purposes. In case you were unaware, Jada Toys is a relatively small (but growing!) private company as opposed to a major publicly traded corporation like Hasbro
Believe me, I am one of Jada Toys' biggest fans and supporters, but I am also a realist. I have an idea of what Disney charges for the Marvel license (the Star Wars license is even more!), and (respectfully) it is WAY more than Jada Toys can afford in their current state
@@juansanchez209 i understand licenses fees must be horrible
But that doesn't mean Hasbro has to do bad articulation and sculpts :v
Hasbro has gotten really good at what they do of late like you said. They seemed almost clueless at first when they first took over the line but it’s night and day now. I’d hate to see them lose the license.
They are really making good on so many figures as of late now!
I dont collect Marvel Legends anymore stopped when they started focusing on Movie version I pick up random fig to fill holes in what I have but very selective , But hasbro had done a solid job on line not like anyone else going to make a superior product.
These last two years have been great with so little focus on the MCU.
Really? Hasbro has done better figures than 90% of the Toy Biz ones.
@ that also was his response something like 10 years ago when I asked him. It was around the Thor Alfather wave
We definitely need a 1970s Ms. Marvel with belly-exposing costume.
:-) I hope that's still an option.
I think they're separate brands from that sense?
Don't downplay your opinion, my friend. It's just as valued as everyone's here.
I would like to see them mix up the accessories some more too!
As always, love the fair and balanced viewpoint, man 👍🏾
Thanks so much! Always try to bring that with the videos.
Look at the bright side. If hasbro looses the license, these salty collectors will have nothing felt to cry about
Oh, I'm surrre they'll find something else to gripe about.
Yep and that's the big problem with someone else getting it at this point.
Ive only bought 2 figures from hasbro this year. They need to stop with the bs 2 packs and 3 packs that have 1 figure we want. And they need to stop cutting corners at every turn. Till then, ill stick to actually good figures like mafex, mezco, three zero, sentinel etc.
That's impressive you've only bought two ML figs this year.
I'm right there with you. Keep 'em coming Hasbro!
Great vid Jeffrey. I agree that Hasbro should keep the license. Yes, they have some issues, but they undeniably continue to improve. The sheer range and deep cuts that I have in my collection is appreciated along with the teams that are slowly being completed.
😂
Again, I can recognize the need for improvement (number of accessories, head sculpts, some scaling ,etc.), but have to recognize the vast improvements including pinless male and female bodies, face printing and retro waves that give us great figs like She-Hulk, original Iron Man, a great Giant-Man, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. 3pk to name a few.
Thank you! They're making less mistakes now and really dialing in I think to limiting the legacy issues they keep fighting.
Never wish bad on anyone… but they act as if they’re on top and can push out mediocre products… they need competition
Competition is ALWAYS good for companies. Helps them step their game up!
I wonder if they could off load that portion or if those products help the bottom line more than we think?
The fact remains that Hasbro is a company with a BoD and they make all the calls on how much time and money get put into the toys. Watch some of Bobby Valas videos. He did one recently about the Marvel Universe line and he made the Beast and was limited on the stuff he could do; no articulation, no accessories, no extras. He goes in depth a few times. The board makes the rules and profit takes precedent over innovation, quality and even employee intake
Maybe Bobby V could pick up the Marvel license?
I thought firing my PR team would stop having people think my first name was Lyle instead of Jeffrey (sigh)
Seriously, I've been pretty fair with ML and all the companies I'm invested in. Praise the great berate the things that need improving.
Jules, Mafex can crank out some great looking Marvel figures!
How so, curtis? Mattel's WWE line is the only 6" scale line that's not $25 at $22.
Impossible Man redo six inch fig with attachable hands and arms. A green Ironman hand or a green Thor hammer hand. Rocket launcher hand etc…
Never pay retail people
Unless it's for Cable or Power Princess.
No, the better advice is to never pay scalper prices.
Totally agree. Marvel Legends remain the perfect balance of collector quality, poseability, playability, and price. I would not want anyone else to get this license. The depth of character selection is so impressive.
It is the major selling point to me for sticking with them!
To be fair Hasbro for its hits and misses also has given us a lot of characters, that were never in figure form. No paste pot Pete, but I regress.
Oh yeah and Wizard. Definitely need a complete Frightful Four!
That makes sense. MAFEX makes great starter figures for a new Marvel Legends collection. Do you not like them or Mezco?
Just remind everyone Hasbro is the only figure company to make ultimate Spider-Man figures
:-) I'm sure someone would find some random high-end company that made one LOL
I admit I do not collect Marvel Legends as a focus. My Marvel stuff is spread around over a few lines because I grab characters I like. But I agree about if the license moves, the new company will likely start near the beginning with Spider-Man, Cap, etc.
Bought the Cabal pack so I could get a good Taskmaster. How long until new company gets to the West Coast Avengers? The Legends I do have are great, like Sabertooth and the recent Cage and Iron Fist pack. So, I am good with it staying at Hasbro.
Yeah, it would be starting over from scratch and after investing so much into Marvel Legends there's just no way I'd start with another company.
@LylesFigureFiles Right. And like you said they're putting out some bangers. Maybe a miss here or there but perfection is not the expectation.
My longtime dream has been for Hasbro to make DC Legends, not for them to lose the Marvel license.
Exactly!!!
I had most of the 5 inch marvel line, then most of the Toy Biz. I have virtually 70% of the legends. There is no way l could start all over again.

How much more would you want to pay for that?
You don't think Transformers is getting any attention?
Given the lazy and incompetent work Hasbro has done on many figures, I wouldn’t shed a tear if they lost the license.
What do you collect for your Marvel figures? Mafex? Marvel Select? Hot Toys?
People in the comments raving about the depth of character selection is a bit of a reach really considering legends have been about 20+ years. Their not exactly gonna make avengers or xmen remakes every single year, of course there will be obscure characters Also, how do you know other companies wouldnt go deep, or how do you know other companies wouldnt make haslab scale figures? 10 years ago nobody thought hasbro would make a giant galactus but here we are. Personally, i think the action figure world needs a bit of a shake up, if some licenses get swapped around, im game.
Cool, so you'd be on board for McFarlane getting Marvel and shaking the figure world up?
I seriously cannot tell you when most of my MLs came out after I get them on my shelf besides say the really amazing ones from the last two years.
I'm a 4 inch guy so hasbro already lost me, legends just recycled marvel universe designs, but those designs are just about out of figures, so they've gotten even lazier. Not to mention distribution is still trash. Hasbro is screwing up everywhere. Figures is over
Hasbro lost you a long time ago if you're a 4" collector...
Hope Hasbro doesn't lose the licence. Although I don't love everything they do, I recently picked up the retro carded venom and it's amazing good video 😁👍
Thank you. I love that Retro Venom too! Really strong figure!
Exactly. Who thought ROM was even gonna be possible??
"Tusk"
"Mad Cap"
??
I have been collecting ML from day 1. and I think I would be ok with them loosing it. I would love if Jada toys would pick them up.
Good luck with that!
@@LylesFigureFiles Good Point. Mafex exists for a reason.
Awesome points! 💯 'Nuff Said!💯 Excelsior 💯!👊🏽💯🍻🔥🙏🏽💯
Thanks, my friend!
As of right now they are pulling legends out of stores and making more exclusives to save manufacturing costs, no extra toys laying around after the whole covid debacle that they are still sending overstock from years ago to Ross and citi trends and Ollie’s
I was surprised Beyond Earth's Mightiest product was showing up at Ollies.
I need Jada doing Marvel figures
Go with Mafex. Jada would do at best 8 Marvel figures a year and Mafex at least has a good head start for a limited Marvel collection.
Jeff, Hawkeye -is- taller than Cap at 6'3.
Thanks!
Another banger LFF. i was about to comment about the demand, but you started talking about it lol. Other than MCfarlane, (which i dont want) i dont see any company out right now that can keep up with output for marvel. comics, MCU, and like you said the exclusives and haslab type figures.
Thanks so much! Mattel maybe could, but they couldn't keep DC. I can't see them maximizing Marvel to any degree.
Okay, you make some good points.
Appreciate it!
Captain America should be taller than Hawkeye? You do know that officially, Hawkeye is 6'3” and Cap is 6'2", right? Look it up.
Well if that's what you got from the video...
Ok the reason why they used the same head sculpt is because Hasbro is lazy that’s kinda it and they don’t care about improving
DA Warbird aside, they've done really well with most of the 2024 releases. Odin certainly isn't a lazy release.
@ I mean it kinda is in some degree because they apparently didn’t care enough to actually paint the gold but instead they molded it or whatever you call it
They were 14.99 when the first Ironman movie came out and first comic wave also
Adjust for inflation they should be around 22.00 dollars.
Ha! MLs were $7.99 when I first started collecting them :-)
Oh absolutely, @Gorger12 They're putting in work for the price hikes from years ago.
@@Gorger12 $1 in 2008 is worth $1.46 in 2024 seems wildly inaccurate
I'm not rooting foe Hasbro to lose the Marvel License. I wish collectors would stop simping the overpriced items and exclusives
Realistically what should they pay for exclusives?
@LylesFigureFiles it's not the price of exclusives it's the availability. Just make them available everywhere
Keep hope alive
As much as hasbro makes bad decisions and can get on my nerves they are still the best. I'd hate to see them loose there license. I'm all ready annoyed they allmost got the dc license and then mcfarlane got it. I do have to say, I would save a bunch of money if it did happen. 😂
I don't know. I would probably find myself spending more money buying customs of figures Hasbro didn't make ;-)
Marvel is more of a problem than Hasbro.
I'll bite. How so?
It sure feels like it. They do have problems, but it's not "they're killing the line" like some folks make it out to be.
punisher is my best marvel legend so far :)
Which one?
@@LylesFigureFiles the new 2pack
Thanks John. I'm right there with you. I remember stalking AMES looking for ML 1!
Appreciate the kind words, my friend!
