I like the use of the magnetic pick up as a preventative measure from dropping small items into the jungle, rather than a tool to recover them, assuming you can even find them (they have a way of hiding)
Hi buddy. I am glad you found it entertaining even though I try not to entertain, but share knowledge and experience. There are plenty of entertaining "rev battle type" car channels out there that I want to differ from. I am glad you enjoy it and thank you again for your support.
Hello You said in the video that there are 8 Cap nuts which are M6 on each bank. In the video the 3 at the front on each bank look to be studs not Cap nuts. Is this correct? If so what size are they and what is their torque setting please
You are correct. 3 bolts at front and 8 cap nuts on each bank. Torque is 10nm. If you are removing the valve covers change gaskets and bolt/cap seals. I have a video on the bolt and cap nuts seals. Hope this helps🔧🔩🤝
Thanks for the detailed video, probably the best one I have seen. Just a quick question, did you also replace the rubber washers (part number 11 12 1 437 395) or are you able to use the existing one? There are about 22 of them!
Hi Leon. It is best to replace them. I used Febi seals. Here is a link bit.ly/35Om1uB These are the best value for money I could get. also the other 6 on the front bolts bit.ly/3oTxHnf Thanks for watching and for the nice comment. @@TheKeenMechanic Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Ok I will order some rubber washers then. Are the 6 on the front bolts have different rubber washers? I checked RealOEM website for my E38 - www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=GJ62-EUR-09-1995-E38-BMW-740iL&diagId=11_1229 I think they are all the same. (See no. 9 in the photo).
@@technik333 The one in the video is 535i and uses the same as 740i facelift seals. Check this out www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=DN22-EUR-06-2000-E39-BMW-535i&diagId=11_7551 Is yours pre-facelift?
@@TheKeenMechanic Thank you! I'm pretty experienced and I guess what I want to know is, besides the 10mm and the pik/long screw driver, what is most important? What about the bolts on the front half of the valve covers? Aren't those needing a specific bit?
May be there is nothing wrong with your engine. Look up other E38s and compare the sound. May be it is the noise from the fuel injectors which is normal🤝🏻
Very helpful to watch experienced mechanics work on engines that you own and are working on too.
Thank you

Thank for your comment. The magnetic tool is very helpful, it is a must for every mechanic🤝🏻
Good job my friend! I will try this soon! Thanks for your help!😎
No problem buddy. I am glad people find my videos helpful. Thanks for your message

You are welcome 🤝 Thanks for your message
I’m trying it on my 95 540i 🥲
Takes a bit of time but easy job otherwise
Thanks for your input. Can you tell me if the nuts/studs and seals are the same on the E31 4 ltr M60 engine please
I am not 100% sure myseld
Yes, but valve covers are slightly shaped differently.
Do you have a video on how to replace the positive terminal on the E38?
No sorry, I never had to do this job

Is yours pre-facelift?
What tools were needed for the job? How long did it take roughly?
No special tools needed. About 2-3hrs if you are experienced and depending how much cleaning you are wiling to do🤝

What is the required torque to tighten the valve cover bolt?
Hi
10nm, hope this helps🤝
Are m62 and m62tu gaskets the same?
The vanos engine gaskets should be the same and different from the non vanos engine
Do you disconnect the Battery first?
It does no harm to disconnect the battery. Thanks for your comment🤝
My engine does not have that tappet noise. It sounds more like a sewing machine. What's wrong? E38 owner. 😮

You only show the obvious things
Hi, not sure how to take this feedback. Thanks anyway
