Making a track for my Nephew in Templeton Ca...this video was a great source of information as I have never built one b4...hope mine is as much fun as yours...thank you guys
Looks good fellas. I'm an excavator with 15 years experience. I've built moto-x tracks and 1/8 scale tracks. Watch for any low spots where water will lie when it rains. It looks sandy but I'm glad you used clay, topsoil will just turn to powder. That being said you'll still have dust. Have a water source near by and water frequently. They make compounds for track surfaces so they'll set up and take rubber but they're pricey. Used motor oil works but is illegal. Good luck, Thanks 4 sharing.
Francisco Torres So says the dumb little 12yr kiddie. Shouldn't you go back to digging through your sisters room, finding and wearing more of here stuff. I'm sure there is a nice dress there waiting for you, it suits you since you sound like a little girly boy.
xXG.L.HXx yeah what ever I bet that dress was for you because since your mom though you was gonna be a baby girl but she looked and saw when she was changing you dipper that you hide white tic tac
Thanks! It's great having this size backyard, I mean the track only takes up 1/4 of it! And we're in a neighborhood! We got real lucky to have this setup :)
I got to make a track with a friend about 5 years ago. We called the rakeway as we made it by simply raking pine needles to outline a track it was awesome. Especially being underbthe shade of trees. Helps keep it damp. Nice work by the way.
Thanks Tyler, that's the whole reason I wanted to film the whole process. I knew many people wanted to build their own tracks but didn't know where to start.
Awesome to get some input from someone who actually does this professionally! We found out the hard way about low spots. Before we put in a drain, the large turn around the tree would hold about 4 inches of water... But the red clay since then has slowly washed away, leaving dry natural dirt, it's a light brown now. When we resurface the track with a new layout, we're going to try using a plate compactor to try to give it a smoother surface and keep the dirt from washing away.
I can see that without your pets, this build would have been more difficult! LOL. Great video. I wish I could have something like that in my place, but I don't have a garden (yard) big enough.
Thanks man! The original red clay we got from a guy was totally soaked when we were ready for a second load. We found another place that had covered bays, but only had regular clay, not red clay. So we just got it anyway. Soon we're planning to resurface the entire track with an inch of red clay!
Including the bobcat work, the dirt, the drain tubing and the cinder blocks, I would say about $400-$500. We got the bobcat work and the dirt for very cheap, it was the piping that started adding up.
Maaaaaan now thats legit!!! Planning, time, effort, hard work and a lot of leaf blowing. Thats what i'm talking about. The real deal right there. Just don't smack a cinder block. ouch
Not as much as you think. Other than cinder blocks, we would have had to use wood. The only time our cars get scratched is when we don't take the bank right ,and go to high on top of them. It's mainly the tires that hit it in that case.
curtis the shmurtis Thanks Curtis, many people don't get that. It's a lot of hard work, but it pays off so much in the end getting to run on your own track.
Now, I want to build one of my own, but I would like to know the costs. About how much did ALL This cost? Including the dirt, the cinder block, all that
No it's not, a lot of people wonder the same thing. It's to help smooth out the track, the water makes the loose dirt on the top settle and pact in. It also increases traction for tires.
Rite on!!!!👌👍 very jealous 😉

Great job working hard to get what you want! You're a great example that if you want something bad enough, you can WORK to get it!
Wow, the hard work by those two young men is impressive. There's hope for America after all!!
drev1 Unfortunately, yep.
+drev1 I'm not surprised one bit you don't have a video on your channel.

What type of dirt are u using for the ramps? Are u using the dirt originally there, or the clay.
No it's not, a lot of people wonder the same thing. It's to help smooth out the track, the water makes the loose dirt on the top settle and pact in. It also increases traction for tires.
Like the track..... I just finished expanding mine you should tell me what you think.
Only thing I would have liked to see that berm go to the very top of the brick I think a little more dirt on it and it would be 🔥🔥🔥
Where do you make the 3d design and what do you use to design it and make it 3d in your backyard also how do you order all the dirt for your house
