Breathtaking, magical, there are no words....the more I hear Jonsi sing, the less I can tolerate other music..... Sigur Ros: must be music trickling down from Heaven....
These guys are Great!!! Not sure why you would shut off any/every other Artist though. That’s just plain stupid....if anything, hearing this incredible piece should make you want to seek out all types of Artists of every genre, every era, studio or live....
My God, i could watch Jonsi sing and play that guitar like that for hours on end without getting bored, what a beautiful sound, love sigur ros so much, they have kept me sane in a crazy fucked up world xxx
this is the most amazing music i have ever herd. The first person who terned me on to this band was a friend then i searched them on i tunes and i have over 20 songs of them.
There's 400times more likes than dislikes. This song has 400 times more influence than I first thought it would have influence; in my life, in my doings, in my everything.
Oh i fking love Jonsi, what a voice, really sends chills down my spine every tie i hear this track, and what a performance, i adore sigur ros so much, im glad their back recording again =)
I can't tell you how deep I felt your comment. I'm sure that you're a great person. My girlfriend had cancer, hopefully now she's ok. I don't got words.... good vibes girl!
Whats not to like about this group? Their music is beatiful, thats why it stands out. Not because you percieve the landscape as being "murky". The hours and hours of work they put into this stuff, I can feel when I listen to them. My suggestion is to stop waiting for something to come along and just go find it. I have a hard time understanding people when they say that there isn't any good music, or the music scene sucks. Good music is everywhere, at any time in history.
@youmustgoon It's the most perfect piece you could have played. It's both extremely sad and hopelessly uplifting and beautiful at the same time. Perfect choice.
I have no idea what his saying...buts its the most beautiful thing ever in each of his songs. I do always feel like his saying 'Eels eyes' though. But i try to ignore that.
grabs your soul... they never mention Amina (spelt that wrong probably) who always play with them i really have to start watching elekik proms... magic...
@youmustgoon please accept my condolences for your loss, I hope time is healing the wounds. Please take consolation in the fact you were there when she passed way. My mother died in 2006 and I was there at the time she had her heart attack. Whilst I tried frantically to carry out cpr she slipped away in front of my eyes, terribly hard at the time, but I now take consolation in the fact we were together.
Creepy...thats what I think about as well when I listen to a lot of Sigur ros...white frost and a low lying red sun. Takk always reminded me of winter - agaetis byrjun early autumn.
Yes. It's "vonlenska" or "hopelandic", Von = Hope, Lenska = Is-lenska = Ice-landic- (mmm...). A language created by Jónsi. All of the vocals in "Untitled Album" by Sigur Rós are however in hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic). Is the "language" in which Jónsi sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. It isn't an actual language (no vocabulary, grammar, etc). It's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument. Good luck!
A bunch of rubbish. The often over used buzz word “hopelandic” was NOT created by Jonsi. It was a stupid word a SR Fan came up with and it unfortunately went viral with the band “Marks”. The gibberish Jonsi uses in many tunes is just Vocal Improv, used with great effect as another means to mesh with the other instruments.
Whateverhesingshebrings. Noeggsplanation . I'm paraphrasing the late, should've been great Kevin Ayres. I don't care if its hopelandic gobbledegook Icelandic English. This band is non pareil..
To say this is nice speaks an injustice to this piece. It is both empowering and silencing but yet at the same time it makes you inferior. God bless Sigor Ros and hope they re-band.
@youmustgoon as i type this post i am crying i am so sorry to hear about your mom. I love my mother so much i don'tknow what i would do without her. I hope you get well soon :)
Hey, thats your opinion man. I dont understand why everyone get pissed about your comment... This is a place to express what you think of anything, like it or not.
@youmustgoon i hope you are doing okay. i think at times one might feel like falling apart but strenght can be found by asking oneself what did my mum/dad bring me up to do? try and make your mum proud every day. you are her legacy and try each day to make her proud. It is you and your family that walk in her footsteps. Try and do as you think she would wish.
@69drummerdude Ha nah you didn't burst 'my bubble' I don't speak icelandic. And i don't speak Gobbledigook [sadly] so an incomprehensible language is the same as any other incomprehensible language...in some respects. But its very nice. Actualy lyrics piss me off sometimes, so its almost like its just all instrumental but with nice vocals. I'll look into it some more....
@tjdrummer13 Hate to burst your bubble, but no. Research a bit further; they are quite open about it. It's a made up language not supposed to mean anything at all. Just sounds. If you click on Gobbledigook with Bjork you can hear real Icelandic, its a lot harsher with lots of K's in it (kinda, funny sounding)
BadCold: Right now I'm not overly excited by much of the music scene right now, I find myself waiting for the next great thing to come along. Maybe, in my opinion, that's why it seems that a slightly less mediocre band can stand out because the landscape is so murky with so-so music. Just an opinion. Maybe in time I might see what you see in this group, who knows. Have a good one.
Spacecarn: This is a comment space and by your rant I guess all comments must be of the same viewpoint, or at least your viewpoint. Really I can't understand your overreaction to a simple post, I wonder how you react to something truly important. BTW you left off the favorite word "Hater", which seems to be the catch all response for any dissagreament. Just curious, why do you like this group?
ok.its health to say my opinion too...about you...if you dont like this band it's ok and leave us....go and listen what you think is good... you dont need to tell any shit about one band or another because nobody listen you , you like or not like and bye bye.
Sounds like motorhead don´t you think? the drum riff?? no? In my country we play dance music during funerals, we dance and cry. This music is empty for me, boring, simple, and the guy'sings like farinelli. I never lived on a counytry where the sun doesn´t rise high above for six months...perhaps is the cause for such a lack of everything in this song. Try stravinsky and i'm sure you will all love it much more than this western wannabe mantra.
Goosebumps forever.
Breathtaking, magical, there are no words....the more I hear Jonsi sing, the less I can tolerate other music..... Sigur Ros: must be music trickling down from Heaven....

Walked up the aisle towards my future husband to this song.
this is the most amazing music i have ever herd. The first person who terned me on to this band was a friend then i searched them on i tunes and i have over 20 songs of them.
Just 20??? Try their entire discography
i was in a band called Von.very much inspired by ros
There's 400times more likes than dislikes. This song has 400 times more influence than I first thought it would have influence; in my life, in my doings, in my everything.
Hvarf's version of Von is awesome, certainly one of my favorite SR's songs [that includes all () ]. In the cd version the violins are magnificent.
Oh i fking love Jonsi, what a voice, really sends chills down my spine every tie i hear this track, and what a performance, i adore sigur ros so much, im glad their back recording again =)
NIIIIIICEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely incredible. Their live BBC version is even better than the 'Heima' album version.
Tears, tears and tears again
I can't tell you how deep I felt your comment. I'm sure that you're a great person. My girlfriend had cancer, hopefully now she's ok. I don't got words.... good vibes girl!
I'm crying, it makes me very emotional.
I cry. Everytime
Thats incredible!
maya badseed....jonsi has superb voice and earth bound humility and gentleness ...great accompaniment musicians

I'll be seeing Jonsi in Detroit Nov. 5th. I cannot wait.
brilliant
@youmustgoon It's the most perfect piece you could have played. It's both extremely sad and hopelessly uplifting and beautiful at the same time. Perfect choice.
wow i dont know anything about this band i heard this song one day on t.v and all i thought was WOW this is amazing.
Good evening goosebumps, we meet again

Almost brings a tear to my eye. Simply beautiful.

I have no idea what his saying...buts its the most beautiful thing ever in each of his songs. I do always feel like his saying 'Eels eyes' though. But i try to ignore that.

2021
Pffft….every year
🇧🇷
Ég er ekki að hjálpa Jonsi.
Creepy...thats what I think about as well when I listen to a lot of Sigur ros...white frost and a low lying red sun. Takk always reminded me of winter - agaetis byrjun early autumn.
To paraphrase British band Arcadium, Take time time to listen and breathe awhile.
me too
i'm dying
Yes. It's "vonlenska" or "hopelandic", Von = Hope, Lenska = Is-lenska = Ice-landic- (mmm...).

Von actually means "Hope" in icelandic.
@youmustgoon May God rest her sould in peace.
To say this is nice speaks an injustice to this piece. It is both empowering and silencing but yet at the same time it makes you inferior. God bless Sigor Ros and hope they re-band.
Este brother me da animos para seguir adelante :)
jajajaaja
pudiste seguir adelante?
just had to go to bed and be all sleepy dreamy, last call for you tube video...lovin it, I heard "inside a house, inside a noose" any objections?
@youmustgoon as i type this post i am crying i am so sorry to hear about your mom. I love my mother so much i don'tknow what i would do without her. I hope you get well soon :)
Hey, thats your opinion man. I dont understand why everyone get pissed about your comment... This is a place to express what you think of anything, like it or not.
@seulhee89 hopelandic xD
Can anyone give me the english translation to these lyrics? I can't find them online, but I really want to know! It's fucking beautiful!
It’s imaginary
@@brianmadigan6600 13 years later, you provide me information I know by now on this long forgotten comment. I thank you.
Von actually means hope. Vonlenska is the hopelandic language Jonsi sings in on ~20% of their songs
The saddest song ever.
so 4 people misspressed the thumps up ?
i still prefer the original version of von, though this is beautiful as well
@97chopper you've got 20 songs of them ? you SHOULD have 6 albums of them.
They're called Amiina
There is no english and/or any language translation for this song. It's in "Hopelandic" which is just plain Gibberish... but it's nice!
@69drummerdude Bullshit. He's just speaking icelandic?
@youmustgoon GOOD LUCK SAD STORY
oops wrong video, two windows open
kinda reminds me of the cocteau twins.
I think the same.. "You sigh alone" .. Hmm , perhaps..
the 4 dislike are probably a miss clic !
no his is in bad slape
@69drummerdude Ha nah you didn't burst 'my bubble' I don't speak icelandic. @tjdrummer13 You do know he's not saying anything at all, don't you?
It's Icelandic...
An idiom too, though it's barely known.
Spacecarn: This is a comment space and by your rant I guess all comments must be of the same viewpoint, or at least your viewpoint. EMO!!
EMO
I think this is in 'hopelandic', a made up language. It means whatever you want it to.
Honest to God I don't know what all the praise is for. This is such a mediocre band. Are they all on Valium or what?
worst...comeback...ever
