      Of it is poly blend material, you may have to sand the area where you out the tape. I have had issues with the tape not sticking properly on polyester material. Try sanding the area with 220 and do a test. The is special tape you can purchase from All Star Adhesives. It should work though by sanding, cleaning and then apply the tape.

    Andy, thank you for taking the time to make your videos. I am a cabinet maker and going to do are 1st solid surface countertop. We have a CNC. My questions are:
    1. what program do you use on your CNC?
    2. Do you install a full 1” sub-surface for the SS support?

      We use AlphaCAM. Yes we use a 1" thick spoilboard but it can be 3/4" thick. Just make sure to surface both sides or air won't stick through the piece for the vacuum holdown.

    Beautiful work! Can I ask why you don’t v-groove on your CNC while you’re cutting your other operations?

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  3 года назад

      Thank you, we have done it before. Lining up the tape is difficult and it take precise calibration of the CNC so the bit will not cut through the tape.

    Nice video! I do the same type of work. I use a mulit-cam 3000 cnc router to cut the slab and a star slg 1000 v groover for the edge or cove back. Our machine applies the tape as it feeds.
    By the way, have you had issues with the corian glue not drying thoroughly, or taking forever to do so?

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  3 года назад +1

      That's a nice setup. Yes we have had issues with cold spots on the Corian adhesive. We always do a small, double bead directly over the top of each other to fix the issue.

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  3 года назад +1

      Hello, Thanks. The v-groover is made by Monument Toolworks.
      I have had edges that will have long white lines because of the air getting trapped. Once I started forgetting the first run of glue down into the v-groove it's improved 98%. Hope it helps your fabrication.

    Speed of having a separate setup and how fast it runs compared to the CNC makes sense but do you have any input on running the miterfold on the CNC instead of the grooving machine? We run quite a bit on the cnc, its slower, but just a single machine.

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  3 года назад

      It's a lot faster with a dedicated machine buy it's also big and in the way when not being used. I have cut v:grooves on the CNC but I have a tough time lining up the tape.

    What’s the best glue for gluing Corian to wood vertical onto a wall? Any ideas

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  Год назад

      Silicone. If you hard seam them together they will expand and contract differently and the seam will crack.

    Do you know what glue I can use to adhere Corian to wood vertical onto the wall? There will be no lip for the corian to rest on and elevated.

    How to make it work at kitchen inside corners ?
    You showed the outside one in this video.

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  Год назад +1

      Oh no, you really can't v-groove an inside corner because inside corners have to have a radius.

    I'm not using an CNC Machine, using a regular router. What size router bit do I need for the V Groove on 1/2 in Corian

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  2 года назад

      I'm not sure. It would have to be at least 1/2" tall. You can also do this on a table saw.

    You can use the same tape on the polyester. Just scuff sand it with 150 grit before you clean and apply the tape.

      The way we do solid surface is pretty much bullet proof. Plate all seams use 2.25" wid solid surface on the front 1" plywood strips, underneath and yes we don't do much dull finish solid surface. I can make it shinier than granite. I can see myself with when I'm done.

    • @cuddles2843

      Oh and we template everything. When we walk in we set it down glue it and seam it if there's a field seam and then walk away.

    Been looking around the internet before i start testing but using a CNC and a v-groove to do the miter fold, is it possible to do large radius' on a veining material to allow a continuous look? all my math and testing thus far shows on a radius there will always be a small section of the veining missing if you try to v-groove the edge detail beyond the straights to the radius

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  Год назад +1

      I can't visualize that being possible there would be a seam somewhere as you transition to the end of the material.

      @@AndyGraves im having an issue with the vgroove bit from amana 45726 leaving a 1/16" gap between the miters when perfectly cutting it out so when attempting to do the fold the tape is binding up and not perfectly clamping square do you recommend a different bit for this application or is it common to reapply the tape to adjust the 2 mitered ends

      @@AndyGraves for testing corian glacier white and for now this generic packing tape but saw the 3m one you have a link for on amazon

    • @AndyGraves
      @AndyGraves  Год назад

      I don't think it's the bit. Are you counting right down to the tape and then folding it?
      Generic packaging tape is flexible and the density of the glue might be pushing the miter apart as you fold it. You must use the expensive 3m tape.
