My mom hated the Dali my dad had, when Dali passed away a few years ago and she found out what my dad had suddenly the print that she tried to throw away so many times that we lost count moved from the garage to the living room.
My gf worked for a lady in Denver in the early 90's that had two Dali photographs (one was titled Monsters) in her basement, leaning against a wall on the cement floor and they were water damaged. Both were signed and numbered xx/500. I found them while moving stuff around for her, and she absolutely didn't care. They probably weren't worth this much, but valuable I feel certain.
He advised him to get it remounted, not matted. Remounting just means taking it out of its frame and surround and putting it in another, but yes, maybe there are dangers if someone inexperienced were to remount it.
Yes, get a new mat, all acid free everything... And spring for that museum glass. Its so expensive but worth every penny. I was just a framer (recently) and I LOVE MUSEUM GLASS. It has high UV protection, but the best part is that it appears absolutely invisible, the second best part is the reflection from light bouncing off of it is a blue tone instead of a white tone. And also, don't forget that if you only have a single mat over the artwork then make sure you also put spacers between the mat and the glass. There's absolutely no artwork that should touch glass, so if you're only using a single mat make sure to add spacers. If you're taking your artwork to a low-end Retail framing shop like Hobby Lobby, you might want to make sure that you insist that the framer framing your artwork knows 2 put the UV protected side of the glass facing the artwork
Just as an additional info: this in not a lithograph of "the Venus de Milo with drawers", this sculpture is called "The Anthropomorphic Cabinet" ("Le Cabinet anthropomorphique"). There are casts in various sizes (each in a number of 330 from different materials) - I think they were made around 73-82. The painting "The Anthropomorphic Cabinet" is from 1936, it's certainly related to the Venus sculpture but an entirely difference piece. EDIT: If this lithograph was made in 1965 it could have been originally a study in preparation for the sculpture that was made later on?
There was/is an art store in a mall by Chapel Hill NC that had lithos from Dali and other art. Once i saw the price tags and who the artists were i freaked out. I wish i had the money to invest. Art is one thing that can really return your investment. Now i live by Lambertville NJ and an antique art store has original Charles Warren Eaton, Warhol, Francis Murphy, etc. Some worth 400K and had million dollar pieces there before. That is where the rich buy and sell. When you walk around there, they watch every step u take lol. Its like a dream museum.
The waves can most probably taken out by putting it in a hot press at a high quality framing shop or a professional photographic shop ( where professional photographers have their work done).
Imagine going through random stuff in the garage and then hearing your father say "Oh, that's the Dali!" At that point I would be "Anything else you didn't care to mention dad? Do we have a Van Gogh in the attic or does the original Amber Room happened to be stored in the basement?"
Breathtaking! Brilliant art is so profound to gaze upon. There are many painters and those that draw but the Artist is rare like the snow leopard. Dali was a true artist.
what a handsome dude, and what a great Dali piece his just lucky. Inheriting a Dali from the garage, and the great genes from the parents, giving him a movie star looks on top of that. itz called good luck
The fact that he thought it was vastly humorous when he bragged, no, I just keep it in the garage covered in dust and cobwebs....Bet he enjoyed the money from the sale though...but at least would of ended up with someone who appreciated it more.

Yes, you would hope the expert would be able to pronounce it correctly, but no ... putting the accent where it belongs (Dalí, not Dali) is not a bad idea either.
I'm going to print a copy of it and hang it in my living room, it will cost me about $20 to frame, my and the guy who pays 30 grand for the real one will look at it and see the same thing.
yes the land of cilawntro and pawsta and sawlsa and awvawcawdo and colorawdo and nevawda and tawcos...and coast-a-rica... jeez youd think they was from LONDON er sumfin...
He's still a world renowned artist and a lot of these didn't survive or are tucked away in collections. You can't just go on eBay and buy real Dali painting every day.
The owners of this Dali had zero appreciation for the artist. Kept in there garage like it was a piece of garbage and wouldn’t have cared if someone stole it. Its a shame that the family didn’t just sell the lithograph and gave it to someone who would hang it up and appreciate Salvador Dalí.
I don't suppose it will go back into the basement ! Most of these people drag in things they keep in the attics, under their beds or in their basements, has no one any taste nowadays ? When I hear them say 'oh it doesn't go with my decor', says a lot about their decor !
Love these shows! Thank You!!!
I love Salvador Dali so no matter what this is priceless
That must have been a surreal moment for that guy.
I see what you did there.. lol
Haha🙏
*rim shot
Wow, a lame joke.

Not surprised, a lot of people tend to find Dali’s work psychologically uncomfortable.
Dali died in 1989 that is a lot more years ago than your "a few years ago"....
@@BlackPixel1 yeah, my dad bought it in Spain somewhere around the late 60s or early 70s.

It would probably go for more at auction. If he gets it matted I hope he goes to an archivist or someone who knows what they're doing.

Well, hello Dolly.
Ok ok ok !!!!! This is by far is my favorite!😂❤
BEAUTIFUL Dali, ❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

How much is the museum glass?
I didn't realize the Eli Roth/Zachary Quinto mold was still pumping out products.
Ikr 😂 !
What a gorgeous piece. The lithograph isn't bad, either.
Ain't that the truth! I love this young man's confidence.
Yes a nice mix of Taylor Lautner and Ryan Reynolds ! Good eye !
I agree, that's the first thing that "caught" my eye! 😉
Cool. A rich kid has some valuable art that's going to make him a richer kid 😤
Dali Museum in St Petersburgh has me as a regular visitor. Very lucky me
His father is going to tell him, Boy give me that print back, I'm selling that!
NEVER “ spray” your glass... spray into your rag.
Nobody:
Dude: "ok" "yes" "wow!" "mmm" "oh really?" "oh, ok" "I see" "really?" "wow! ok" "wow! yes" "yeah" "mmm ok" "ooh okeyy!" "oh really!?" "really? wow!"
He might suffer from generalized anxiety. I do, and this is how I talk sometimes without realizing it.
Oh really
all he really wanted to say was 'show me the money' he had no other interest in this judging by his demeanor....or maybe he just has anxiety
Being polite and showing he’s listening maybe?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 facts he only cared about hearing how much it was worth
You guys need to lighten up.
Dali is the bomb! Best artist ever!😎❤️🌎
What a treasure. Good for him.
Meanwhile, Rick from Pawn Stars would say: “best I can do is 30 bucks….and I’d be losing money!” 😂😂😂
These appraisers are so smart!!!
I want that. Huge Dali fan
This guy is like: "ok enough blah blah blah" how much is worth?

This guy doesn't give two f's about the background. He just wants to know the price.
Nothing wrong with that
@@dav9104 Plenty wrong with that. People only care about the signatures/names of the artist instead of the art itself. Which is sad.

@Christopher Shank you really get around **drumbeat**
Mr Dali was a qualified nut... With a artistic ability...😏
Nice looking cool guest too!
Antiques roadshow youtube comments are always so jealous and mean lmao
Appraiser: this is a lithograph

Appraiser: it is of a sculpture

Someone’s getting a Camaro.
Don't think 30g will be enough.
and a new jar of hair gel.
Literally spit out my coffee when I read this... 👏👏👏
That’s straight up comedy.
Now THAT'S funny. 😆
Pretty amazing find! Please talk about proper art storage!!!
Get it properly framed, and keep it out of the sun!
I would love a print of this...fascinating

Funny how people say"Are you kidding me?" When told the estimated price for an item.

I have a signed Dali. I should get it reframed.
“Replacement Value” = you’re lucky to get 50% of that at auction
which would still be 15x what he expected

I don't really believe the blown out estimates of Dalí's work. He was way too prolific.

Get it re-matted and out in a very nice frame and then insure it lol.
some times it does not pay to change frames

Okay.
maybe i’m an appraiser before! why i just the know prices there going to give..
Must be a rich family to just stick it in a basement covered in cobwebs. Sad.

I have a dolly. I'll have it appraised.
I thought it would fetch more than $30K, but what do I know, living 4 miles from the Dali Museum.
i live close to the space and rocket center but I am not a rocket scientist
I live less than 2 miles away from the rock and roll hall of fame and museum and I can't even play a guitar.
