      In 1927 the average yearly wage was $5,500. When salary would have been around $115 a week $35 would have been a substantial purchase.

    Love antique roadshow ! I am always amazed at the value of some of the items people bring in ! Wish I could find things like that at a thrift stoe.

    The hole can easily be fixed by a conservator, he should have made her aware of that .

      Holes like that in ceramics cannot be repaired. You might try filling it with epoxy, which will certainly damage the maker's marks and original price tag, but then you have two materials with different rates of expansion rubbing against each other every time the temperature changes. You also have to explain everything you've done to the vase to any potential buyer or face a possible lawsuit.

    In 1927 $35 was $350! That’s months of rent for the average person. Probably over a year of rent.

    The hole shouldn't matter your not turning the vase upside down to look at it or show it ! No one would know theres a hole in the bottom less you told them or showed them !
