    These animals definitely have too high INT for their own good (perhaps a trained dog would communicate clearly...but most others should be quite the effort) but it's clear the devs are making it only for fluff more so than D&D levels of immersion, and it's good fluff at least

    • @TheDrexxus
      @TheDrexxus 3 года назад +31

      Language is about understanding.
      If you feel it is "immersive" to have animals speak in broken english with incomplete sentences, thats entirely your preference, but magical means of speaking to and understanding animals allows smooth communication. All their intelligence dictates is how much they might know or understand things. They all seemed to have appropriate intelligence for animals to me.
      Even the ox that noticed the people that feed it could turn into other animals when they wanted. Pretty sure any animal would notice and remember something like that. All of them simply spoke about their current feelings or observations.

    When you follow the rat with the hurt tooth, it took me into the storage cabin with the paralyzed tiefling. It says the monster is in the large chest, but if you search it the tiefling shouts an alarm. Is there a way to see what the rat is on about? I figured it was lying to me to get into the pantry chest for food, but I can't confirm that.

      If i remember correctly evil thing that he hurt tooth on is key ,it is mini quest that you can do but amount of effort from Devs is amazing you can steal , heal or kill her .In option 1 steal when she call for help Zorru will show up and ask you do you wont to pay fee or go to jail. I chose jail it is so easy to run away from :D

    Does being in animal form automatically let you speak with animals? It didn't seem to be the case for me, when I tried it. And in cutscenes, it would default over to a character who was in human form, instead of my druid. :(

      Yes only time when didn’t work for me is when I interact with shadow druid in mouse form and Gith dragon but i don’t know does dragon count as animal

      @@JasminMaricJasa I tried to use animal form to talk to the Owlbear, and the stupid cutscene kept bringing in a non-animal party member, who couldn't communicate with her.

      @@JasminMaricJasa Dragons are....dragons. They would not count as a "beast" like most wild animals, they would simply count as a "Dragon". They have their own creature category all to themselves. Even Pseudodragons (which look like house-cat sized Red Dragons with a poisonous stinger on their tail, though they are actually Good-aligned creatures, albeit mischievous ones, they aren't inherently malicious and will not willingly associate with evil creatures) count as Dragons. And the thing about Dragons of all sorts is that they can understand and speak "Common" just like any other creature (except Pseudodragons, they can't physically speak, but they can understand both Common & Draconic. Pseudodragons primarily communicate through their own unique form of telepathy/empathy), and they can also speak Draconic (Draconic is also very known by Wizards & Sorcerers, as Draconic is the language they use to actually cast their spells). Even the dumbest Dragon is about as smart as the average human, so if you try to speak with a dragon and they do not respond, then it means that they simply have no interest in speaking with you.
      Also, if you tried talking to the Githyanki's Red Dragon, expecting it to be similar to Kahga's viper Teela (who was very reasonable if you're able to speak with her first), then you don't know much about Red Dragon behavior. Red Dragons are evil dragons, and they are the strongest (and the most vain) of the Chromatic (evil) dragons as well. To a Red Dragon, the words of a "random humanoid" (other than their Githyanki allies) are of little interest to them unless they stand to profit in some significant way (like if they could obtain a valuable item to add to their treasure hoard), and trying to pester such a dragon will more than likely anger it to the point that it decides to just kill you and be done with it.
      If you ever want/need to converse or negotiate with a Dragon, do so with a Metallic (Good) Dragon, not a Chromatic, because they will at least hear you out, and out of all Metallics you could meet with, Silver Dragons would be the ideal ones to negotiate with, as they are, by far, the friendliest of all Metallics when it comes to the humanoid races (Silvers greatly enjoy the company of humans, elves, and the other civilized humanoid races so much that they will often spend most of their lives in their company, so they can most often be found within large cities, though they would generally be polymorphed into a humanoid race themselves [usually a human, elf, or half-elf] so that they wouldn't cause any unnecessary panic or inconvenience in their natural form).
