DEMANDS For CHANGE After SHOCKING Race With Monaco AT RISK!

  • Iconic? Obviously. Historic? Of course. A good F1 race? Absolutely not. A completely processional Grand Prix around the streets of Monaco has once again brought to the fore the issue of modern F1 cars being completely unsuited for the streets of the principality. The race might be F1’s showpiece but Formula One has outgrown the circuit and watching 78 laps of the top 10 cars following each other around the two mile circuit, seeing who can drive the slowest, is not the product that the sport wants to be showing. With the sport almost ditching the historic venue two years ago, could this season's race have been the final nail in the coffin? Or can anything be done to reignite the excitement of racing in the city and save Formula One’s most famous race?

    (For Monaco only):
    *No wings.*
    *Softest tires.*
    *Tires half the present width.*
    *Reduced turbo boost.*
    *Reduced maximum battery power.*
    *Indycar style Push to Pass system, three minutes total for short bursts of full engine and electric power output.*
    With no wings, you could shorten or delete the nose cone, the cars would be several feet shorter. Half-width tires would make the cars at least a foot narrower. Softest tires would require lots of pit stops and strategic opportunities. Managing the PtP system would require crucial strategy options. There would be no structural changes required to the cars except new floor designs, just different wheels and tires for this race only.
    It _might_ almost make the race worth watching again.

    • @jameshisself9324
      @jameshisself9324 3 месяца назад

      I believe the nose cone is a crumple zone for the crash structure, but even with no wings it would be way less cumbersome. It might be riskier for launching cars off tire to tire with the wings gone as well but hard to say.
      I say do it anyway but the first accident with injuries and everyone would blame the changes.

Each team races older cars from different periods, drivers both old and current or up and coming can compete. So you get all the glamour , keep the location in the calendar, but offer something new. I’d watch and probably enjoy that.

    If F1, Liberty Media, want to make F1 racing exciting, and provoke the teams into building cars that can overtake, award significant points for qualifying and then grid the cars for the race in reverse order of qualifying.
    Awarding decent points for qualifying would force the teams and drivers to compete to 'win' qualifying, but then positioning the cars in reverse qualifying order for the race would force the teams and drivers to find ways to pass, or see slower cars gaining decent points over them. A scheme such as this invites all sorts of strategic tactics, both during qualifying and the race. It could be fantastic. There would have to be some strict rules applied to punish drivers that blatantly block cars behind from passing, but we should have such rules and enforce them now!

      There's not many other options for where the track can go as most of the connecting streets don't re-connect to the track area.

    Really don't understand why they don't just move Monaco to the end of the calendar. Treat it the same way the TDF does around the Arc de Triumph. Still keep it on the calendar but keep it almost as a parade to celebrate the season. Putting it at the end might also open up some more variable weather too for the fans!
    Also only one change would be needed to make it more of a spectacle, straighten out the Nouvelle chicane and make that whole strip into a big DRS zone from the tunnel entry to Tabac.

    in 1992, Nigel Mansell was chasing Ayrton Senna for around 20 laps maybe, can;t remember exactly. Had he been able to overtake he would have left Ayrton behind, but that is the nature of Monaco. It has always been like that when you get a clever driver up front blocking any chance of overtaking.
    The only way to inprove it is to widen the track and have a truly long straight and the only way to do that is if Monaco invaded France and took another 2kms off the border. If not that make them pay for their tyres with a credit card before they exit the pit lane and put hard curbs on the track like normal roads. DId anyone mention speed bumps?

    Give points for 2 qualifying style shootouts (fastest to slowest top 10) and scrap the race. There isn’t enough room on the track for a race. This obviously is not cost effective when you think how much of a show it is and the investment made by sponsors and those attending. So unless they can try and widen the track at points then you’re left with dropping it from the calendar.

    Apart from the obvious issue of the cars being too big , the tyres are USELESS!
    You either make the tyres to last a whole race , so the drivers can actually drive , or , bring back refuelling.
    The hard tyres weren't really made to last full distance , so the teams had to manage them which meant no one dared to go anywhere near full pace.

Its about who can go around the track the fastest without smashing and the first part of the race is first won or lost in qualifying. He who goes fastest gets the best shot at then going around the hairiest track at speed for 2 hrs and tests his precision, speed and concentration. Its a race of attrition. Its more about racers racing themselves and staying focused the whole time. If you suck at quali you dont even get a chance to win and dont deserve to. Monoco reminds me of old qualifying when it was one shot, balls out, low fuel qualifying.

    Saying that races like Monaco are F1's problem is avoiding the elephant in the room. F1's biggest problem are the few big teams dictating what the rules are for the so called sport. They are making it what it is for everybody. Apparently FIA is the boss, but it's not. You just have to see how the big ones always escape punishment when caught bending the rules or outright cheating. Also, they have always vetoed changes that would have seen their chances cut, like a REAL budget cap or rules like you have in Nascar, Indy or Formula E.

  • @FernandoBiaziNascimento
    @FernandoBiaziNascimento 3 месяца назад +1

    Monaco has never been the problem, F1 is becoming more monotonous on every single track.
    Monaco is just the one that the technical differences of the cars weights less and the pilots makes more difference, but with cars with that size, the qualifying is the only time the pilots have a chance to stand out, if they don't lack luck, on the race itself little can be done.
    Also, I don't see why people think Magnunssen was wrong, it was not. Perez clearly smashed him to the wall when he saw Magnunssen faster than he was, thinking that he would brake. This is dirt drinving. He also admited it (citing Perez with literal translation): "If I knew he would try to pass I would give him the space". So he knew it was faster and possibly on his side. If the other pilot would not try to take a position, why would he be racing? Sure, if positions were swapped, Magnunssen would be exemplary punished.
    To fix F1: bring back the rules from 1980-1990 and then improve the security and limits to accomodate the advances, F1 is becoming boring from the start of each race. Literaly, because that 5 red light signal is a stupidity, bring back the good old red/green it's just better. The DRS is a joke, it is needed because nothing is like it should be anymore. The outcome of each investigation depends more on what pilot is the subject than what the pilot did.
    They tried to fix things that were not broken, now these things are broken and need to be fixed.

Cars are unable to follow each other closely enough to feel engaging. It hardly ever feels like drivers are dueling... It's usually that 1 car is a second faster than the other, so you just wait for a few corners or laps until they are able to pass on a straight or brake. Getting rid of this track, or even changing the circuit will only work as a bandaid.
