I was honored to attend OCS Juniors and OSC Seniors and then serve our Corps as an officer for 7 years. Good overview. Out of all the things you mentioned, the mental game and evaluations are the biggest challenges. Show up well prepared. Give it your all plus some. By far the hardest thing I have done. Semper Fi.
Thank you for watching sir. I am sure things have changed a lot since then, but I know a lot has stayed the same. I will keep making videos about my time in the Corps. Will be interesting to hear your thoughts and feedback if you stick around this channel
I didn't actually make it thru ocs, dropped at week 5. I went enlisted as reservist and served in 2003 war. I later learned that Nathaniel Fick was in our ocs company.
Hi Eduardo. I graduated from the 10-week OCS course in the summer of 1977 and accepted my commission in 1978 and trained as an 0802. OCS has really changed since I went through. Commandant Wilson felt that the the newly commissioned LTs were buff pt studs but not so bright upstairs. The emphasis in my class was on academic work which made up 40% of your class standing. 20 pull ups, 80 sit ups in 2-minutes and 3-mile run in tennis shoes in under 24 minutes. When I graduated I was mid 250 PFT but one of the top 10% in classroom work. The Quigley was in its second year in 1977. We started with a platoon of 79 and graduated 37. The first 6 weeks were done at Camp Upshure and we had to hike to main side for the last 4 weeks. Best thing I ever did in my life was serve time in the USMC.
Mr. Sharp, Thank you for sharing this. It is incredible to hear from those who have paved the way. OCS has changed in many ways, but it has stayed the same in many ways. I love being a part of this brotherhood of warriors. Semper Fi, sir!
Can you talk about liberty or do a short video on liberty? I’m married with two kids, and my family will be visiting me during OCS. Edit: they live close by MCB Quantico.
During INDOC when was the height/weight taken? Were the candidates who failed h/t w/t and tape with you also attorneys or where some standard rising college seniors? (Or in other words, anyone else who the USMC had no prior monetary investment in?) Of those who taped and failed did anyone get kicked out? Great video, thanks
What is the process like to select duty stations in IOC? Do they take into account having a wife with a job in that area if a person requests a certain duty station?
Thank you so much, im scheduled for class of 245 myself. What were some of the most common reasons that candidates would fail the personality/leadership aspect?
Took me 8 yrs to get my undergrad degree. Then I went to law school which took another 3 years. Then I joined at age 30. I did not have to take the ASVAB
Hey, thanks for all the great info! My cousin is there right now in week 1, all we got was a text that she landed safely. Will she be able to call at all to say she arrived at Quantico safe like they do in bootcamp?
Nobody should downplay any of the trainings learned at any installation where they make Marines. If you are not the best, the most physically fit, nor prepared to fully take on the role of a jester quietly to yourself and for nobody's amusement you need not apply. Standing next to an individual who is on forming day 1 while you are fully dressed in woodland camouflage with nametapes and war belt is not a sight to be seen but rather not seen.
Oorah! I had a “how to pass leadership reaction course” video but I was told to take it down. If you have any other questions or good video ideas let me know!
I'm 31 and shooting for '24 fall class. Really appreciate all the insight on the little details. It's super helpful. Good luck at TBS!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Im 24 and hoping to get into the same class. Hopefully I’ll see you there brotha.
I'm 32 and considering this as well. Thank you guys for your guidance and encouragement.
Congrats Boot! Good luck in the FMF!
Oorah! Thank you 🙏🏾

I stumbled on your channel a few hours ago. I went to OCS back in 1998. Still remember it like yesterday.

We have not heard anything yet and she has been there over a week. Shouldnt we get a class number to be able to write her letters?
Yes you should. That is unusual she did not send you a text when she arrived. That’s what they made us do
Went to class 241. We didn’t get calls home or anything. Letters are sent out very infrequently.
I was wondering how long is an officer contract typically (excluding aviation and other MOS that extend contracts)
What is the process like to select duty stations in IOC? Do they take into account having a wife with a job in that area if a person requests a certain duty station?
I have no insight in how monitors choose duty stations. But I would say generally, needs of the marine corps come first
Thank you so much, im scheduled for class of 245 myself. What were some of the most common reasons that candidates would fail the personality/leadership aspect?
Lack of confidence. Talk loud. Talk like you are leading marines. In the billets, be loud, be vocal, be competent.
Rah sir, did you just get your degree and just go in? Also did you have to take the ASVAB and have to score a 74?
Took me 8 yrs to get my undergrad degree. Then I went to law school which took another 3 years. Then I joined at age 30. I did not have to take the ASVAB

You will get a text that has her mailing address. That is all they get once they arrive
I never remember running 5 miles in boots at a 7:00 pace
The Medal of Honor run is the only time you run that distance in boots. And correct, I’d say the pace is more like 9:30 -10:00 min pace
Hi LT. I’d most of pt done in boots or regular running shoes
First half of OCS is done in go fasters. The second half is done in boots.
They take a crawl, walk, run approach
How old were you entering ocs?
30
5 miles in 45 minutes….meh probably in BOOTS? Jfc…let me get started. What boots should I buy?
I wore the Danner Reckonings. The most expensive model. But it’s shooters preference. I recommend those for OCS tho
In 79 I did not have a clue. Phantom driver.
Some Sgt instructors do have PhD’s lol.
I believe this. Did I suggest otherwise?
How do you suggest studying the 5 paragraph order?
Once you know the elements of a 5 paragraph order, practice doing them out loud, as if you are briefing it to actual marines.
I wish someone told me the skinny in 1068. Semper fi.
I already know it must have been crazier back then. Semper Fi!

Did it appear as though I down played it? If so, definitely not my intention. I agree with you
so helpful

1968 not 1068
